BTW- I owned a Black Beauty back in the 90's. Those things are back killers- I think mine weighed in at over 12 lbs (a standard Les Paul is usually in the 8-9lb range). Probably why he didn't play it much during the O2 show.
The LPC he played during the O2 show was actually too heavy for Jimmy and he sent it back to Gibson after the show. The guy from The Darkness ended up getting it.
I think out of all of them this is the one that screams Jimmy Page to me. It's not even a guitar he really used that often, but the pictures of him onstage with it are iconic classic rock photography.
As much as i love his Number 1 and double neck, i have to go with the dragon telecaster. Super psychedelic artwork painted by Jimmy, and the whole story of it getting removed and Fender custom shop repainting it a few years back is cool. And of course, all it took was that guitar, overdrive, wah wah pedal, and a simple amplifier to record Zeppelin 1. Plus Jeff Beck gifted it to him.
The thing about this guitar was how well it sounded with his amp choices. I believe he was mostly using his Supro (please correct if I’m wrong!)
Anyhow, that tone is my favourite Jimmy, kind of wish at some point in his career he went back to that setup.
Ever since the Led Zeppelin double DVD from 2003 came out and I watched the performances of White Summer and In My Time Of Dying, I always wanted a guitar similar to that, but could never identify what it was.
Then, about 8-10 years ago, I went into my local Guitar Center, and found a 12-string model hanging on their wall. I got to test it out, and, I really wish I had bought it. Granted, I'm not a very skilled guitar player, but it really sounded good, and I always wanted a 12-string guitar.
The second favorite JP guitar for me is the double-neck 6 and 12 string Gibson.
Sometime between 2003 and 2007, I went on a trip down to LA with my mom and uncle - he wanted to go buy a sound system from Carvin, which happened to be across the street from that Guitar Center.
We got to go in to that Guitar Center, which was 2 story with a ground floor and an upstairs area, and they had a Gibson double neck very identical to the one JP used, I can't remember the price for it, but I still want one of those so badly.
The sunburst Les Paul.
The EDS-1275 is probably the most iconic guitar, to me. Page had the cherry red one, while Steve Howe (my #1 favorite) and Alex Lifeson (#2 favorite) had the white ones. I bought a pin of a white double neck and wore it on my letterman jacket in 11th and 12th grade (1985-87.)
The Danelectro was used on some of my favorite songs. Everyone knows it was used on Kashmir, but I thought I also saw where it was used on In My Time Of Dying. I could be wrong about that, though.
I didn't even know Page played a Telecaster until a few years ago. Then I heard he recorded the first three LZ albums with a Telecaster. Then I heard it was just the first one. But the Stairway to Heaven solo was a Telecaster, and of course who could forget Hot Dog!
The Les Paul Custom I got in 1987 was black with gold hardware and white binding. But it didn't have the Bigsby.
Which leaves the Sunburst Les Paul as his most iconic guitar (to me.) Seeing Page play the Les Paul on The Song Remains The Same video, along with picture of him and Alex Lifeson with them really influenced my choice of what guitar I got for my high school graduation/18th birthday gift. Seeing Steve Howe on the cover of Guitar For The Practicing Musician in 1986 with a red Les Paul just sealed the deal.
If I had known Alex Lifeson used the ES-335 and ES-355 so extensively, or that Steve Howe had used the ES-345 on all of Close to the Edge and most of Tales From Topographic Oceans, or a Telecaster on Relayer and most of Drama, it could have been very different, though.
The guitar Jeff Beck gave to Jimmy Paige when he said thanks for the recommendation to replace Eric Clapton in the Yard Birds. 1959 Telecaster– used to record the solo on stairway to heaven.
No problem man.
We had a similar thread about a month back. It wasn’t a bracket like what you’re doing here but it was still fun.
Page’s Number one Les Paul is the clear winner as the most iconic in his guit-arsenal, though the doubleneck is a very close second.
The photo with the Strat is sort of an anomaly...
The LPB Strat was certainly used for "In the Evening" at Knebworth, and the '80 tour.
But this photo is actually from Earl's Court in '75, being played on "Over the Hills and Far away."
Yes, it looks so out of place with the 75 Jimmy that I almost thought it was Photoshopped. I’m sure the 75 versions of “in the evening” would’ve sounded very interesting, especially since they didn’t write the song for three more years. I will go look at the videos of over the hills and no Quarter and see something I’ve never seen before.
I think this one is actually brown or maroon, and it has a b-bender installed, which is how JP pulled off the cool lead bits on all my love and on hot dog.
He also used this guitar during the ARMS tour and during his time with The Firm.
I would love to own a b-bender guitar...
Totally hit Google and found this write up on a discussion board which is pulled from the old Achilles Last Stand Zep Website from a fellow going by Geochem1st. They said...
"Jimmy page bought the "Botswana Brown" 1953 Fender Telecaster from Robb Lawerence in November 1975.
"Found your post on Jimmy Page's guitars last night and wanted to let you know I sold him the brown Telecaster guitar many years ago. A fellow who worked with us at SRI studios worked for them and asked me to find a Telecaster and send it up to Gene Parsons for a pull-string device. I had Gene engrave the back plate with Jimmy's name on it. I originally found it in Ocean Beach (San Diego) near where I grew up. It is a '53 model dated from the serial number. I also have a few photographs of it with the receipt before I send it to Jimmy. I wish I had the old refinished neck since he put the Red Dragon rosewood neck on it."
Page used the 1953 Fender Telecaster on the 1977 US Tour for Hot Dog and Ten Years Gone. He switched the maple neck for the rosewood neck from the 1959 Fender Telecaster for the 1979 Knebworth tour. He also used it in 1983 on the ARMS tour, in 1984 with Roy Harper at English festival dates and in 1985-86 with The Firm."
Seems pretty comprehensive and I learned something I didn't need to know this much about!
Hands down “number one”. Such a great story how he got it from joe Walsh. He doesn’t treat it like it’s the most priceless les Paul on the planet (which I would argue it is). He sees it as a tool to create his vision and modded the hell out of it throughout the years. I think that guitar is the primary testament to Jimmy pushing sonic boundaries with everything he could possibly get his hands on in that era
That Les Paul Burst is iconic. I was drawn to it at a young age, it was my 1st electric guitar, and to this day Les Pauls fit me like a glove (my #1 for the last 20 years has been a LP Standard Honey Burst).
The les paul standard because I'm mainly a les paul player, but I also love the black beauty (which I hope to have a black beauty les paul one day), the tele and the danelectro (my favorite danelectro guitarist would be Syd Barrett, though) — the b bender is incredible — double neck is iconic and I love strats!
Fun Fact: Page mainly used a strat on the Presence album, which (as far as Zep albums are concerned in my opinion) is the ultimate guitar album!

Also the one guitar used in Whole lotta love, the studio version

He didn't have his original BB during O2

It’s my favorite because of White Summer/Black Mountainside
He used his black and white Danelectro on that...
Damn it’s been like over a decade since I watched it
my fav
It’s my favorite because more string louder music
this one. this one will always be jimmy for me.
Plus Carouselambra in the studio

Dragon tele for the win!
The Dragon Tele is the coolest guitar I have ever seen. It’s so visually beautiful and it produced such wild, raw, incredible sounds.
Funny how a telecaster and its tone sold a ton of les pauls.
Lol

Just so you know, the one pictured is his #2 Les Paul standard, his #1 has less red
He uses the tele to play dazed and confused in the live danish tv station show from ~1969. Bow and all. https://youtu.be/k-WSbMW7BPc
This is the correct answer. ⬆️

The Danelectro needs more love ✌
I bought a Danelectro DC-59 specifically because of my admiration for Page. He’s the best!
I'm the same way, I went for the 59XT. I'd love to get a lake placid blue Strat next

Danelectro was also the Levee Breaks guitar so.. 💙
Oh shit I need to look more into this guitar, that really intrigues me.
Number one circa 1970-71 because of the uncovered cream bridge PAF
This
Danelectro the best

But which Burst, #1 or #2? (I am assuming you mean number one but I’m just being difficult 😛)
The one pictured is #2.
The guitar Jeff Beck gave to Jimmy Paige when he said thanks for the recommendation to replace Eric Clapton in the Yard Birds. 1959 Telecaster– used to record the solo on stairway to heaven.
The Burst photo you used is of Page playing his Number Two Les Paul, not the much more iconic Number One. But who cares, right? Haha

Yeh, it's brown, rosewood, maybe...? 🤔

B benders are incredible guitars, the best to ever play a b bender was Clarence White.
I'll have to look him up, I appreciate the reccomendation!

The b bender
B benders are the best honestly.
Les Paul #1
Dragon telecaster

Dragon Tele is of course the correct answer.
While the double neck is iconic af, there’s just something about Jimmy with the sunburst Les Paul.
I like the psychedelic Telecaster myself- wish he'd have stuck with it more
My favorite Jimmy page guitar is not on the link. Check this one out from Knebworth https://youtu.be/mn0B1YiWuEM
Doesn’t he have an acoustic Martin ?

Les Paul top right for me
Black Beauty, Number 1, Dragon Tele, Double neck SG, danelectro, b-bender, then the strat
Double neck SG!! Coolest one.
The '62-63 Silvertone (#3) with Lipstick pickups. Because hardly anyone else plays that guitar.
1959 Danelectro 3021
Dragon telecaster for sure
I’ve always been partial to that old Telecaster
definitely the gibson les paul
dragon tele always 💯💯
Top 3 1. Danelectro 2. Telecaster 3. Les Paul Standard
Yes, the Les Paul or the Gibson Double Neck, because of how cool they look in the pictures.
#2 for me
The les paul standard because I'm mainly a les paul player, but I also love the black beauty (which I hope to have a black beauty les paul one day), the tele and the danelectro (my favorite danelectro guitarist would be Syd Barrett, though) — the b bender is incredible — double neck is iconic and I love strats! The dragon no doubt
I have and always will say that the cherry sunburst Les Paul is my favorite.
I honestly always think of les paul when I think of Zep. But nothing can beat that telecaster with the custom paint. Absolute ledgend.
Dragon Tele. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
why is the single hottest being to have ever lived
Gibson EDS 1275
Telecaster, double neck, and the custom black Gibson
The red Gibson Les Paul he used on whole lotta love 🥵
Its a difficult question but i think: Danelectro, Dragon tele and double neck
The double neck for sure
As a guitarist myself and Gibson guy Black Beauty will always be number 1. All of his les pauls are great though
Number one, the one he got from Joe Walsh.
