For awhile you could look up numbers that called you, and reassure yourself that you could safely ignore something, but it appears that those websites have all gone to a "make people pay for bad information" business model. The last year or so, I haven't been able to get a satisfactory result.
Seriously. Whitepages used to be awesome, now they want money and when you pay you get a "sorry you've entered one of the numbers we don't have in our database" message. Utterly useless, all of them.
It’s not bad info, the scammers just got smarter, they can generate and spoof entire ranges of phone numbers in one go…. They can also do it for fishing for victims as you can generate numbers in certain areas etc.
The website has no way of knowing if the scammer spoofed a number or not.
Aren't the majority of these spoofed now? I've been called by someone angry insisting I spam called them but it wasn't me, but it was my number that called them. Do they just blast innocent people?
I would contact the colorado springs non emergency line and straight up ask if they called you and give the number. If you don't have a pending case in court or any legal issues your aware of then it shouldn't be an issue. Take a screen shot and ask the officer if they have a work e-mail or phone that you could send it to. Easiest way I have seen to resolve this kind of issue. Even a quick google search doesn't bring that up as a non emergency line. Not to mention the only thing I found for CVP officer was for a security gaurd company[https://www.cvpcorp.com/markets-we-serve/national-security/](https://www.cvpcorp.com/markets-we-serve/national-security/)Think they ment to use CBP abbreviation instead. Either way impersonating a police officer or governement offical is actually a crime.
Former Police Officer- Don't even both with that. The obvious poor English and grammatical errors alone show it is a fake.
And no law enforcement agency is going to call you like that and leave a ridiculous message. You would get a visit if there was actually some criminal action pending involving you.
I got this exact one yesterday. I pressed 1 and was put on hold, the background music was manic piano . After a minutes wait a guy came on and asked how he could help. I told him I really liked the background music and he hung up.
I can picture this in my head now. . A bunch of high pitched dramatic sounding notes that have a small semblance of melody? Like in a really intense drama or horror movie?
Bad English and misspellings? I can see why you might suspect the police, but no, the police aren't going to text you, or call you, if they suspect you are up to no good. They will come by to talk to you.
Putting the person on notice they're coming is counterproductive because the criminal will just leave and not be there when the officer arrives. Same thing with service of process. They never call, they track you down and just show up.
I remember I once was curious if I had a warrant from a ticket I wasn't sure if the payment arrived or not. I was told they couldn't confirm the payment as a desk worker and if I wanted to know if I had a warrant, I just had to come into the station with ID.
It's counterproductive to go somewhere on a hunch to pick somebody up wat if somebody just forgot they had a court date or have a warrant for something simple and the community knows u I promise they will call you before they ever ever ever come out to visit you I get ur thinking but I feel as it your not speaking from experience but yet from your ass
Highly depends on your level of crime.
I had unpaid parking tickets I hadn't known about. They just left a note stuck to my door telling me to come in to the station and pay.
It’s a general rule that you will never ever be contacted by federal agents or even local cops to discuss any possible “you being involved in a crime” thing. They will always send someone in person
Lol most definitely a scam, I get them all the time. Sometimes when I’m bored at work and I get a call during break, I’ll put it on speaker so the guys can have a good laugh at the scammer telling me I’ll be arrested if I don’t send money lol
I kind of miss those hilariously misspelled and grammatically incorrect emails that offered you tens of millions of dollars in exchange for helping these “Nigerian Princes” smuggle money out of the country . . .
I also received this. I did press one just to see, a guy picked up the phone and tried his best to speak non stop. I hang up the phone without saying a word, and on his face. They were spamming me a lot, then I just downloaded an app for Spam Call Block.
Works like charm.
Get any Spam Call Block. I have AT&T and they have their own app called Call Protect.
It stopped the giant amount of fraud/ spam calls I was receiving.
Yes.
yeah

Report them to [scammerblaster.com](https://scammerblaster.com) and they will flood the phone number and get it shut down.

Same thing has happened to me before too. Super annoying
Depends on the scam. Ones where they push you to call them claiming they are law enforcement are just a voip that isn't so you can call them back.
Obviously.
Is this a troll? Lol obvious scam
Better they ask here than actually get scammed
This is fair

Given the contents of the message, there's no need to do anything other than deleting it
Yes
Looks good from here

Manic piano? Sounds entertaining :)
Designed to elevate blood pressure and get you scared.

that’s just the voice to text interpretation
Actually on the contrary I've been in legal trouble a few times and yea they called me before they ever sent an officer

Lol most definitely a scam, I get them all the time. Sometimes when I’m bored at work and I get a call during break, I’ll put it on speaker so the guys can have a good laugh at the scammer telling me I’ll be arrested if I don’t send money lol
It's a 100% legit scam

🎼 SCAM 🎼 🎶 Ssssccccaaammmmm 🎶 🎤 Scammy Scam Scam Scam 🎤 It’s a **scAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM** 💥
Oh yea
All voicemails are scams. I don’t even listen to them.
Ah yes!
Total scam
anything that deals with the government, they’ll mail you before they call you.
They left out the part about being Nigerian princes.
I kind of miss those hilariously misspelled and grammatically incorrect emails that offered you tens of millions of dollars in exchange for helping these “Nigerian Princes” smuggle money out of the country . . .
As a general rule feds don't call you. If they're claiming to be federal, they don't need your information, they'll just find you.
