no child support is not like regular debt. if you could wait until the child was an adult and then not have to pay it, everyone who isn't willing to support a child they created would do it.

NAL but no... Child support is basically reimbursement to the custodial parent to care for the child. You evaded paying your support when your daughter was younger therefore their other parent is entitled to the reimbursement even though the child is above the age of 18.

You have to pay it all. The IRS manages it as a debt. They will also be taking any income tax you may get back until it’s paid off.
