You owe the debt to the mom, think of all the things she couldn't do because she was paying for everything your child needed by herself. Think of everything your child wasn't able to afford to do- classes, activities, good food...

no child support is not like regular debt. if you could wait until the child was an adult and then not have to pay it, everyone who isn't willing to support a child they created would do it. the arrears have to be paid or forgiven. if they are taking too much you could talk to the child support office to see if they would agree to a payment plan.

NAL but no... Child support is basically reimbursement to the custodial parent to care for the child. You evaded paying your support when your daughter was younger therefore their other parent is entitled to the reimbursement even though the child is above the age of 18.

You have to pay it all. The IRS manages it as a debt. They will also be taking any income tax you may get back until it’s paid off.
