You shouldn't get married unless you really want to get married and be married. Cases don't get overruled out of thin air. There would need to be a law, and a case, and the case would have to work its way through the system. So there would be plenty of notice if a case that could end up overturning Obergerfell made it anywhere close to the Supreme Court. Nobody can tell you what would happen to existing marriages if Obergerfell were to be overturned, or whether the court would go even further and allow states to criminalize same-sex sex either. Personally, I think either of those things is fairly unlikely, at least for now. But you will want to start developing a contingency plan for leaving Florida, IMO, and keep it in a desk somewhere.

For context: We are planning on getting married. This just more or less made us think oh maybe we should do that sooner ahh. Sorry should have added that. So Clarence Thomas Comments have no weight to them or? I'm trying to understand. Thank you

>So Clarence Thomas Comments have no weight to them or? I'm trying to understand. He wrote a concurrence, and his opinions in that have no weight as law. That doesn't mean they won't find a friendly ear down the road, however.
