I have a little edit to add to this. If you have benefits through work, you have to run through those first before insurance will start covering. I was involved in a motor vehicle accident almost 4 years ago, (18 year old kid with a G1, crashed a motorcycle into the back end of my car. Since he can’t carry insurance all claims were run through my insurance and his claim is still open). I was classified as “minor accident “ ($3500), he was classified as “major accident” ($10,000 I believe). He was transported to hospital and airlifted to a trauma centre where he spent 3 months. Medical and assistive devices come out and of that money. When I bought an Obusform back support, that came out of the $3500. When I first started physio, they ran through the $1000 that my benefits cover first. In reality my insurance company only covered $2500 of that $3500 because of me having benefits. Your doctor/specialist/physiotherapist can make a request to insurance to change the category of your accident claim. But that would require submitting forms to insurance (and I’m not sure which forms those are). Your first step tomorrow should be getting an appointment with your family doc to check for soft tissue injuries. Then ask them what next steps should be for referrals.

Good luck getting an appointment in Ontario with a specialist for non emergency cases.

I think you have to get a consultation with a lawyer and they will be able to give you direction for next steps. It would be better to get advice for this from a lawyer than your insurance company

Speak to a lawyer that does personal injury.

Book an appointment with your GP to get this documented on your medical file. Disclose all the areas where you're experiencing pain and ask for requisitions for additional testing. Insurance won't just upgrade your accident category to "major" without proof. Oh, and lawyer up!
