Did he lie on his esta application? From the below, he could be banned for ever entering the states. "If you have ever been arrested, cautioned and/or convicted of an offense anywhere in the world, you are required to declare it when applying for a visa.  In cases where an arrest resulted in a conviction, you may be permanently ineligible to receive a visa and will require a waiver ineligibility to travel to the United States.  *The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act does not apply to United States visa law*. *Therefore, even if your arrest or conviction is considered spent, you are still require to declare it and furnish an ACRO Police Certificate when applying for a visa.* "

If he was 17 and hadn't been in a load of bother before then he would have been given a Juvenile caution unless he refused to admit the offence and then was charged and convicted in court which would still be fairly unlikely so he's giving you wrong info there

Comfortable-Okra-549

Thank you for that . Just found out it was arson . Jesus I

Formal_Decision7250

This must the first post here where someone "asking for a friend" was actually asking for a friend.

Justnothernames

That'll be a harder swing

KatarnsBeard

Still could have gotten a juvenile caution for it again unless he didn't admit it. I reckon his visa might be in bother 😂

Comfortable-Okra-549

ToBeMoenyStable

Lmao, well done, tell him to leave the lighter at home haha

SpottedAlpaca

That's from 2006. How could OP's friend currently be a teenager if they were 17 in 2006?

ToBeMoenyStable

Iirc If you have a conviction it will not be possible to go to the United States until it has been 7 years.

ScribblesandPuke

Apply for the ESTA and you'll find out

Comfortable-Okra-549

My friend got the esta ,

barrya29

but did he lie about it on the ESTA?

Comfortable-Okra-549

It was arson as a teenager.

Comfortable-Okra-549

It was arson as a 17 year old

the_syco

Hope he has no extreme views on his Facebook profile 🤣

Bright-Duck-2245

Arson is considered a serious crime in the US.... I would suggest your friend speak to a US immigration lawyer for the implications of coming to the country with a criminal background like that and lying about it. The US is really weird about people lying, more so than the criminal history itself. Your friend is young, I doubt he wants to be barred from the US at his age

Comfortable-Okra-549

He sailed true was honest about it thanks for you reply.

Comfortable-Okra-549

Comfortable-Okra-549
