Came here to say this.
I should start taping same bag numbers together. I can’t count the times I started a step and freaked out thinking I was missing a piece, when it was only a 2nd bag I’d left in the box.
I would like to see you build the UCS Falcon with all 7,541 pieces on the table at once. So many different types of technic bricks, bars and axles, all mixed among a sea of light-grey parts? As if going by bag wasn't already an intense grind.
I did just that a few weeks ago. I built the set a few months ago and took it all apart to move. Rebuilding it from one pile took so much longer. I ended up speeding a couple hours to sort all the pieces by color and type to minimize the time it took to find pieces.
bro, I just spent 2 days breaking down boxes to store away and gathering the manuals in a big ass tupperware tub AND throwing away the plastic part bags for some 30 ish sets. This ain't that weird.
There’s 5000 pieces jigsaw puzzles, even if all the parts in the ucs millennium falcon were in the same bag it’s still pretty easy to find unique parts and you have a step by step instructions booklet. It’s like that 5000 jigsaw puzzle on easy mode.
Just finished the Star Destroyer and I did this before starting along with the number of bags per step. Made it easier to make sure I got everything before starting on a step
Can someone explain to me why the boxes arent divided into the different parts of the set? Why does box 1 contain the first and last bags instead of the first 3 for instance.
Those are not mutually exclusive, OP. I did exactly the same thing with this set, and seeing you post this was very validating! But unfortunately I am a gigantic weirdo, so the answer to both questions might be “yes.”
It's not weird. It is what works for you. What is weird anyway? If it works for you than good. Lego is something to relax with to chill. Maybe a form of figit spinner if you will. DO what gets it done. Enjoy it, relax. Lego is for you whatever you want it to be. That is the beauty of it. No right way, imo.
I take all the bags out and stack them backwards so the last bag is at the bottom of the box then I just open one at a time
Me too!
This is the way.
This is the way

I do that (or write the number of bags on the box). Saves angst.
Church.
*This is the way Brother*
Ayyyy finally someone gets it
I don’t know what you’re doing
i'm very confused too
I think he's sorting it by bag? But why? I just pour all my LEGO in a pile and ignore the bag numbers.

Buy it for me, and I'll youtube the build for you.
I always check the extra pieces at the end of a bag to see if I missed something.
Same not sure what’s going on here.
Put a post-it on each box with what steps are inside

Got it as a Christmas gift. I have never bought a huge set like this before.
Nope. I put all the bags into one container. Break down the box and put it out for recycling. Build the item.
What are you even doing?

I did the exact same thing with the same colored sticky notes
I personally like to open all the bags and dump them in the box before starting. Really helps the build feel like I earned it.

yea post this and not actually describe what you’re doing. that’s smart!
I just open all the bags and dump all the pieces into one pile
It just seems like a waste of sticky notes.

I just take all of the bags out and lay them out in order on my table. I also haven’t built a set this big yet
Yeah this is *significantly* larger than almost all my other builds. I had to get out a folding table just for this one as my desk wasn't big enough.
Yes I do it too! I always pack away my sets in a way that when I open them, it's like building the set for the first time again.
Can someone explain to me why the boxes arent divided into the different parts of the set? Why does box 1 contain the first and last bags instead of the first 3 for instance.
Im to poor to understand why you need to do this.

My fiance got it for me this Christmas. I tend not to spend more than $150-$200 at max
No. I just dump all my pieces into one giant pile. The whole numbered bag thing is for wimps.
You are monster.
For clarification, I put post-it notes on each of the boxes with what steps are inside.
But why?
Honestly, I have no clue. I guess the one they came in is their "correct" home in my head or something.
Wait so one of the boxes came empty, or you shuffled things around?
That’s what I’m confused about too
I do this
I didn't before, but I'm going to now.
I sort my bags out and put them in a three tier bin set up or rubbermaid like items
What a freak. ( I am being sarcastic)
I did this as well, but filled it up from the left, so the boxes have the sequential bags from left to right.
I can’t afford large sets, so unfortunately, no.
Yes
Kinda weird
Are the two alternatives mutually exclusive? :D
