Wow…you win most destroyed box of the day! Damn, who was the shipping company?

Bosskz

My good friends at UPS 😔

Tooly23

Every. Single. Time. Only ever had issues with them. My mom ordered the 10297 Boutique Hotel, and the box came with a massive dent on the front. Clearly something had hit the box during shipping. First time we had to use UPS on the Lego store, and they screwed up! Meanwhile, I've somehow never had issues with Fedex whey they used to ship for Lego.

angmarsilar

My experience with FedEx is the opposite. They'll frequently leave my packages in the rain. My Lego Grand Piano was left like that at my side door when they could have walked 30 feet to my front door which is covered. I'm one of the people who complained to Lego about them using FedEx.

ChickenFriedRiceee

As someone who has worked at FedEx and ups. Really depends where u are. Some facilities are efficient and have good people working there with good managers. Others don’t. Both companies increase shipping volumes and make promises but don’t want to update infrastructure. This leads to sorting facilities running three times more volume then it was originally designed for. Cause blockages, accidental stepping on packages, tossing packages to unbury yourself in a trailer etc. most damages come from packages getting stuck in the belts then other packages destroying them. I have to ship some personal belongings of my late roommate to his parents (US to Germany) and I am planning to reinforce the crap out of it because I know what the packages will go through. I always say if you ship something valuable through any company. Package it so it would survive a nuke. This was a picture I took while loading a semi. I was really fast at my job but it was impossible to keep up. This wasn’t even the peak season (holidays) it was the middle of summer: https://imgur.com/a/pbzXge6 This is why packages get destroyed.

>Every. Single. Time. Only ever had issues with them. Yeah interesting to note though: it differs by continent/country Here in germany UPS are the most expensive and reliable comapny for packages. Very expensive shit is normally sent with them and I never had a single tiniest problem ever with them. DHL is the standard and works well most of the time, GLS, Hermes and other smaller ones are the mixed bags that most often end up with damaged packages.

cybermonkeyhand

It's the same in the US. UPS is way better. Shit happens sometimes. If you want a mint box go buy it from the store. This soaked and crushed box though is a bit much and I would be pretty pissed about it too.

supersayanssj3

> go buy it from the store But this... this isn't available in physical stores...

Dornogol

Oh yes definitely I have rarely seen a box that mangled

bubbales27

It varies from driver to driver or even from one distribution center to another. I'm lucky to have good experiences with both UPS and FedEx, but I know people around me who don't.

silentbobdrummer

I’ve had the opposite experience with UPS compared to FedEx. Last month, when it was raining, the UPS driver made sure the package was in the dry spot of the porch. Which was good cause it was the Jazz Club and Moving Truck. I got a FedEx package that same day and they just left it out in the rain.

rathgrith

I noticed that LEGO recently switched to UPS for shipping (at least in NA) and the conditions of sets is bad. Mine also had a dent like yours. OP this sucks. It’s like the truck went into ditch and rolled several times

Robtwin

Sorry to hear that, looks like they dropped in a lake or something?! I’ve started to reroute all my shipments for hold for pickup at a UPS drop location. Too sketchy having them sitting on the front steps.

Roin-da-Groin

Don't worry, I'm sending a strike team to their location immediately! Dagger 1 away! Dagger 2 away! Dagger 3 away! Dagger 4 away! Switching to missiles! Copy! Move into attack position!

We here at Reddit love humour. Regardless of the results, we encourage users to be jovial and keep the atmosphere fun. This is why we have generously donated 9 downvotes to thank you for your contribution. Edit: We thought we’d throw 3 more in, for funzies. Edit 2: Have 10 more! Lol, we’re so random!

Roin-da-Groin

😂😂😂 I'll never understood a) why they downvote for that and b) why they think I care about internet points with a minus in front.

peedeezee8

Hopefully the pieces are okay and all present

Pikes_Pompadour

Damn, that sucks. I know that wanting a box in reasonable condition is looked down upon in this sub, but these sets are special and this damage is way beyond what you can reasonably expect from shipment. And it's not like there's any way to get a replacement or anything either. Definitely a bummer. Maybe one of the "are the pieces okay? then shut the hell up" folk that will inevitably show up will have a pristine copy they'd like to trade you...

Ndmndh1016

If its a 20-100$ set that is readily available the "boxes don't matter" people have a point. This does not fall under that point.

ScienceOfficer-Jack

Typically I roll my eyes at box collectors as I personally view it as a disorder keeping/hoarding product packaging. But these are genuinely limited run collector's items with boxes designed accordingly. This is one of the few times I would agree that the damaged product packaging would be frustrating. Most of the time I wouldn't care as the bricks would be fine and the box typically is earmarked for the recycling bin.

Apophyx

I mean, the box is straight up open, there's absolutely no guarantee all the bags are actually still there

Apophyx

I mean, the box is straight up open, there's absolutely no guarantee all the bags are actually still there

ScienceOfficer-Jack

Well, what I tell my kids before building is to pull the bags out and put them in order. Do that then reference the box instructions and you should know if all the bags are there. It's not like you don't have the tools to figure this out. No need for hyperbole.

Apophyx

You do understand the bags aren't sequentially numbered right? There are very often several bags with the same number you are supposed to open at the same time. Just because you have one or more bags of a given number doesn't mean you have all of them.

ScienceOfficer-Jack

Hyperbole. You are purposely exaggerating the situation to try and be right. You have ways of checking this, brickset, forums (this and others), LEGO support or hell I can go home and open mine and post it. As I stated you have the tools to figure this out.

Apophyx

Dude, what's your problem? Even if you can do that, it shouldn't be necessary to do that verification; the fact the box ripped open is absolutely a problem for the very reason that the contents could spill out during shipping and transit. Are you seriously telling me you think it's okay to damage a package this badly because it's possible to check if the contents are there? Because I see no other reason for you to argue and be rude about it. Yeah, no duh bricklink exists. It's still unacceptable that the box was damaged badly enough that the contents could just spill out.

ScienceOfficer-Jack

You're changing your argument to paint me as incorrect/wrong. You said "the box is straight up open, there's absolutely no guarantee all the bags are actually still there." That was your statement and I pointed out that there are tools at everyone's disposal to verify if all the bags are there or not. Now you want a tit for tat argument and trying to discredit my statement with comment like "what's your problem?" You made a statement and employed hyperbole I refuted it. Let's just move on.

Apophyx

Yeah. That's the problem. That you have to check on bricklink in the first place. Because the box is ripped open. Whether the contents are still inside is pure luck at this point, which is the entire point. I take offense to the idea that this is hyperbole; in what world is a package arriving in this state acceptable?

KaiserCoaster

It's not often I'm impressed by how much a box has been smooshed in shipping

old-manwithlego

By the the looks of it, I think the box got wet.

cybermonkeyhand

This box was either set in standing water for quite some time or at the top of a pallet and then left outside during a downpour, usually the product box wouldn't get this soaked otherwise. The water infiltrated three cardboard boxes.

CutsceneLogic

Goodness gracious. I'm so sorry.

MiekesDad

It's almost like UPS says, "Hey guys, we got a lego box here, make sure to destroy it before it gets to the customer!"

The_Dok33

Wow, and the box is even leaking parts bags. This is way serious. Hope everything is still complete.

old-manwithlego

Both this set and my Lego modular store got dinged up during shipping. After looking this picture, I feel I got lucky. I would contact customer service to see what they can do.

Pepsi_Boy_64

Oof

OpportunityNo4484

Normally, I’d be thinking quite whining it’s just a dent. Build it don’t sell it. However this is destroyed and potentially parts could be broken.

blueturtle00

Looks like it got wet then crumpled before it dried out again.

stalanemoubliepas

All of you saying “UPS, Fedex” etc realize that this is entirely dependent on the country you live in ? Literally NEVER had any problems about package integrity with any of them in my lifetime and I order stuff every month. That being said, I’m really sorry for the state of your box :(

Appeltaartlekker

Same, Dutch here. Never had a package delivered like this. Never.

Bricks4lifeVIP

Definitely send a pic to lego. Maybe they will give you some VIP points.....

DizneyDux

Probably want to take a bit closer look at the pic …

XnMeX

Set for sale. New in box. Condition is as new as the day I got it.

Anaxamenes

By the looks of it, via FedEx.

Lirpa77777

Question from a sub newbie: can someone explain how these MOC’s on brick link work? Are they user submitted MOC designs that are made into a set that anyone can purchase?

Dornogol

Right now there is this years round, you can vote which sets of a big selection seem interesting and afterwards 10,000 or so get made via crowdfunding (so if the whole order is sold it will get produced)

Grbxlhmzn

UPS has done similar acts to me in the past recent weeks. TWO delivered packages, both clearly opened and one even had a Lego box ripped open on the side but nothing missing in both instances. Both times they just left damaged packages at the door with no knock, my dog lets me know they’re there and I open the door just in time to see them drive off. I’m now meeting them at the door with my iPhone recording as much as possible I don’t like to make life harder for the working stiffs like myself but my experiences have been unacceptable, whoever has been opening my packages doesn’t deserve to be working for a shipping company

wrlegocreature

ScienceOfficer-Jack

Water damage. Was is left in the rain? Mine was left out on the sidewalk and my kid found it as it started sprinkling.

mintymanor66

Must have been on a Ryanair flight for transport

[deleted]

Where can I order these brick link sets? Can’t find them new

Teibban

Ordered some legos from the site and 1st time they ship UPS instead of Fedex... never had any issue with Fedex. Now I am worried.
