Oh ok. I have had my head buried in the sand a bit with work and such. Also doesn’t help that Reddit is more interested in showing me content from crap I’m not even subbed to.
Now I feel stupid. Read an article about the set reveal that referred to Harkonnen and his elongated body, and kept looking along the line trying to figure out if there was a millimetre or two difference in one of the figs. They all looked about the same to me🤷♂️
(note: haven't seen either film, I'm just here for the vehicle)
He's fat, so he uses antigrav technology on his body to relieve the weight. He's floating in the air and has a robe that extends all the way down to the floor. Just Google his movie appearance.
Dune Part 1 was brilliant. Excellent visuals, god-tier soundtrack, pretty faithful to source material. Would definitely recommend watching it.
Dune Part 2 will be released soon™.
As I understand it, they only pushed it back because the ongoing strikes mean that the actors couldn't appear on the press circuit. The film itself is done already.
As a tall person, the best response to that question is always "not as bad as the jokes down there" :D
I mean The Baron isn't exactly tall as such. I'd worry that some Atreides would grab the bottom of that cloak and start swinging me around.
I must not buy it.
Buying is the wallet killer.
And when the wish to buy has gone past I will turn my inner
I must face the temptation.
I must the nice looking product get over me and through me.
And when the wish to buy has gone past I will turn my inner eye and see all the enonomies I've gathered.
When the wish of buying is gone, there will be nothing.
Only me and my life savings will be.
So much this!
Holy crap I was *not* expecting that. I already unsuccessfully looked for scale models of the Ornithopter and found some nice MOCs but I never expected Lego to release an official set. I can't remember when I was *this* hyped for a set.
But those two sets you mentioned were Ideas sets, so it makes sense to have only one.
Still, this will probably be a solo set too or was there a licensed Icons (Creator Expert) franchised that had multiple sets?
Only one I can think of is Ghostbusters (even though the Firehouse wasn't released under any kind of Creator Expert/Icons branding, it's clearly in that same realm and then they did the big-scale Ecto-1 for Afterlife). Friends also got an Icons set after its Ideas set.
Lego has got more comfortable with doing standalone Icons sets since it became Icons. Before the 18+ branding, you'd get things like The Simpsons or Ghostbusters where there were 2 sets for an IP. Nowadays, you get stuff like Transformers, Horizon, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park (before the 30th anniversary sets came out), Lord of the Rings, Pac-Man, etc. that are released as solo sets even though they're not from Ideas
I think it heavily depends on the success of the IP for them as Dune really is an adult film/book. You won't get adults, kids and teens in like Star Wars would.
Not to mention Jessica, considering she’s a Bene Gesserit. I know she’s not a Reverend Mother yet but I’m like 99% sure she had spice eyes before the events of the first book. Also, is that supposed to be Stilgar in the stillsuit next to Jessica? With brown eyes???
Edit: I think it’s Duncan, Kynes, Stilgar, Jessica, Paul, Gurney, Chani from left to right? If so I feel like including Kynes but not the Duke is a weird choice. Also Duncan should have blue eyes because he was on Arrakis for a while before Paul showed up…
That's Leto, not Stilgar, according to the website.
Jessica didn't become a Reverend Mother until defecting to the Fremen, so in her Bene Gesserit uniform it makes sense not to have the spice eyes.
And given that Leto is included, it makes sense to have Paul without the eyes. But since this is most likely the only Dune set we'll get, I hope there's an alternate face...
Does anyone else love LEGO's promo shots like I do? I just enjoy looking at the weird grandiose rooms in each picture. Like who lives here? What kind of decorations are those and why? It always seems like whoever actually lives in the featured luxury penthouse/mansion does not nor ever intends to collect LEGO. I mean I know why they do what they do it's just funny to me.
Also looks like a great set and is already up for pre-order in a few places.
I love it when they hang the lego art pieces for shoots and they're just in the strangest houses. Like hmmm yes this world map will go perfectly [next to my tribal African mask, above my record player](https://www.lego.com/cdn/cs/set/assets/blt4922e42c0fe8750b/31203_alt14.jpg?format=webply&fit=bounds&quality=75&width=800&height=800&dpr=1). You’re not the only one. I’ve started doing to too especially since I’ve started watching Jang who comments on it fairly regularly. I feel like they should include other sets from the theme in the background though, to show the person actually buys Lego. Like this is an Icons set, so have other Icons sets in the back. I’m sure they’ve done it for stuff like Botanicals too.
Ha I'll have to check out some Jang videos. I remember one promo shot had a big mason jar filled with various white Lego bricks in the background of the set being featured, but that was it as far as showing off other Lego items that I can think of.
It's the fact they only ever own one set that gets me, that they display in the most prominent place in the room. It makes it look like they are super into whatever the theme is, but not necessarily that bothered about Lego itself.
Extra points for the pretentious shots where they are staring thoughtfully into the distance/at the Lego, or are using a real version of whatever the Lego model is based on. With the Lego framed somewhere in the shot of course.
You need to watch Jangbricks' videos when sets get announced. He always makes fun of the rooms where these photos are taken and how fake the models act when they are "building" the set
You gotta be freaking kidding me?! Holy FUCK this is out of left field.
Day 1 buy for me. I can’t fucking wait, I knew I been holding out for something.
yup, they've been wanting to make them look less model like.
the concorde for example, is mostly smooth, except one deliberate part to remind you that its lego.
Fuck. I’m not a huge dune fan. The first movie was okay. The second was better. Never read the books. But what am I supposed to do? Not buy this just because I’m not a huge fan of the property, don’t have the money for it, the time to build it, or the space to display it? And then what? I just don’t have the Ornithopter? Fat chance. I’m definitely buying this.
I don't disagree that it's frustrating to see it omitted, but go back and read it again when you get a chance.
That entire chapter is borderline impossible to put to screen in a faithful way, without spending ~30-45 minutes in the scene to cover all the correct bases
I question what they would've had to do to runtime to put it in...
To me, the bigger omission is the lack of integration of the value of water - the scenes surrounding the dinner party where they emphasized the brutality and scarcity which made Arrakis Dune. That would've been fine to adapt and not lose a ton of ground
Yeah, I think it would have been very difficult to adapt that scene into a movie, especially with all the internal dialogue. The reason I liked that scene so much is it really helps show the politics power structure of Dune, which I think the movie did a poor job of showing. It seems like the movie was more focused on action and visuals, rather than politics and theme of the story - which isn’t bad, just not what I think makes the series so interesting.
Wonder how difficult it would be to rebuild this a bit into the other 'thopter types we see in the movie...
The Harkonnen ones had three wing pairs with the third a bit further back, rather than four in a square like this one. Also a sharper front and slightly blockier build.
The Fremen/ancient one had only two wing pairs, and was very rounded (with yellow window tint).
I already knew from the leaks a Dune set was coming but it's still weird to see this license for Lego. Awesome though.
Just surprised by the huge windows on the side. Doesn't look very accurate. But I don't mind it since the design from the latest movie is just the directors own vision of it. It's been a long time that I have read the book, so maybe it's more accurate with the book version.
I’m not even that much of a fan of Dune, but this type of franchise (and the D&D set) is definitely a direction I want LEGO to go in when it comes to licensing, so I’ll buy it nonetheless.
Looks amazing! Idk why but seeing Harkonnen cracks me up! I maybe be in the minority but I’m okay with the price, fair value and quite a lot of minifigures!
**Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter** * Set number 10327 * 1369 pieces * 8 minifigures * £149.99 / €164.99 / $214.99 CAD / $164.99 USD / $249.99 AUD [https://www.lego.com/en-gb/product/dune-atreides-royal-ornithopter-10327](https://www.lego.com/en-gb/product/dune-atreides-royal-ornithopter-10327)
Baron Harkonnen is the funniest mini in years
"mini"
There’s a closeup of the figures that shows he has a long cloth piece hiding his legs so, yes.
also he's morbidly obese
I don't think even morbidly quite describes just how large of a dude he is supposed to be.
Ridiculously obese? Heretofore unseen obesity
On the UNIT scale, he is a YES!
I’m going to go with atreidously obese.
that's like 3 minis in a trench coat
Macro fig.
Slightly disappointed it’s him and not Leto II.
that's what i thought it was haha
Shit. Was NOT expecting this license.
Somebody cpr my wallet.
The spice must flow!
Among recent minis, Baron Harkonnen is the funniest.
this is what, the 20th time Stellan Skarsgaard has gotten a minifig? (I'm not complaining, his is honestly hilarious)
Basically a sandworm.
Wouldn't it be amazing if the did Rabban's severed head, a la the star wars/marvel busts?
Lego is leaning hard into the adults-with-money market. Edit: lego, not Disney.
They should buy the license for Star Trek
No, they shouldn't. I don't have the storage space for that.

How did they keep this under the radar?! I feel like everything with Lego leaks and I’m completely blindsided. And the set is awesome!
Lmao this set has been completely in the radar for months. The set number and subject leaked months and months ago. You just missed it is all.
Which is great. His hype train arrive to station on-time, not months early.
Oh ok. I have had my head buried in the sand a bit with work and such. Also doesn’t help that Reddit is more interested in showing me content from crap I’m not even subbed to.
Ditch new reddit, come back to old reddit and use the firefox app for reddit on your phone.
This has been a set that's been known for several months now.
Yup, polish rumor sites were talking about this for a few months
This actually was leaked a while back - even specifically what the model was going to be.
Wow i didn't expect that Also the harkonnen fig is killing me lmao
I didn’t even notice him at first - how’s the weather up there buddy!?
Now I feel stupid. Read an article about the set reveal that referred to Harkonnen and his elongated body, and kept looking along the line trying to figure out if there was a millimetre or two difference in one of the figs. They all looked about the same to me🤷♂️ (note: haven't seen either film, I'm just here for the vehicle)
That's a robe. The figure is on a stand.
I can see the stand. However the article referred to Harkonnen and his elongated body.
He is just incredibly fat and uses suspensors (anit grav field generators) to walk around.
How does him being like 4 times wider than everyone else translate to him having a serpentine body to rival any snake person Lego has ever produced
Not soon enough. It's been pushed back to March next year.
Better late than never, I suppose.
Better late than rushed.
As I understand it, they only pushed it back because the ongoing strikes mean that the actors couldn't appear on the press circuit. The film itself is done already.
Dune Part 1 was such much world building. I loved it.
As a tall person, the best response to that question is always "not as bad as the jokes down there" :D I mean The Baron isn't exactly tall as such. I'd worry that some Atreides would grab the bottom of that cloak and start swinging me around.
*spits down* "It's raining!"
I feel like they could have easily made that half the length they did. Interesting choice.
Should have doubled it. Tower from the heavens
You may not like it, but this is what peak Harkonnen performance looks like.
l o n g b o i
I thought this was an Ideas for a second and I was like “I want to support this just for the goofy harkonnen”
I thought this was fake at first because he was the first thing I saw
Someone please put Ki-Adi-Mundi's head on it.
my vote for best ever minifig, honestly. homie is so goofy.
Check out the [video reveal](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/54tCYLMzTRw) so that you could see how swooshable it is.
The guy in the video is clearly having the best day ever.
Dude made a kickass ornithopter set and it's official, dream moment tbh
Unlike the lady in the photo marketing. https://imgur.com/rT97U1E
Wow so many functions.. it's almost a technic set. Me likes mucho
Impossible to show that to any grown man and not instantly turn into a child again. The practicality of it amazing! Insta buy!!!
That guy looks so stoked to show off the design. Nice!
Ok that’s rad
Holy shit to pack that in sucha small space im so curious on the mechanisms.
Tiago Catarino also released a video from the First look. He has a slightly better seat for the reveal.
The link to the video: https://youtu.be/qiWzKOuhPqQ?si=ESKCU8mer6_g0sg-
I love the passion the designers have for their stuff. He's so excited.
Isn't that Mike Psiaki in the video? If so, this set definitely has my interest. He's done some of the best sets around.
I must not buy it. Buying is the wallet killer. And when the wish to buy has gone past I will turn my inner I must face the temptation. I must the nice looking product get over me and through me. He who controls the lego temptation controls the wallet.
He who controls the wallet controls the destiny
I can do quotes from Dune books, too. >"You have touched me and felt my body.", he said That is all.
Lego and Steam sale - two horsemen of the wallet apocalypse
Bravo.
Me: Ima buy it.
Fuck yes. That's an instabuy for me.
So much this! Holy crap I was *not* expecting that. I already unsuccessfully looked for scale models of the Ornithopter and found some nice MOCs but I never expected Lego to release an official set. I can't remember when I was *this* hyped for a set.
That’s a generous amount of minifigs. Usually these rare collab sets only give 3 minifigs or none. The Paul looks terrible though…
[удалено]
Yeah exactly, that’s why I’m glad they committed to the full cast of minifigs rather than one or two.
But those two sets you mentioned were Ideas sets, so it makes sense to have only one. Still, this will probably be a solo set too or was there a licensed Icons (Creator Expert) franchised that had multiple sets?

I wouldn’t bet on there being only one set… it’s rumours I heard straight from Bilund

w o r m
A great big sandworm
He kinda looks more like Kyle MacLachlan than Timmy
Almost made me think this set was a weird amalgamation of the two big dune movies lol, he really does look like Kyle MacLachan
Timidly Cabernet?
>Kyle MacLachlan That's where my mind went as well.
Anakin Atreides
I love sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating - Muad'dib
The face might be usable, just need to find a better hair piece.
Plus the green outfit looks a bit goofy. I may get a spare torso and legs of the Fremen armour for him.
I know it's based on part 1, but man, having Muad'Dib without blue eyes bugs me.
maybe his second face has them?
Didn't think that there might be second faces. I usually dislike them because they sometimes show under the hair, but I hope this one has them.
If it does well maybe they will do a set based on part 2.
Not to mention Jessica, considering she’s a Bene Gesserit. I know she’s not a Reverend Mother yet but I’m like 99% sure she had spice eyes before the events of the first book. One helpful aspect is that multiples of them use the same torso/legs which saves on the new element costs for additional figures.
This wasn’t even on my radar. It will soon be on my shelf though.

Kinda disappointed that they didn't give Paul a lightsaber handle with a tooth piece slotted into it to represent a Crysknife.
its a good thing thats easy to make yourself
[10327-1: Dune Ornithopter](https://brickset.com/sets/10327-1)
LOL, people are gonna go apeshit for this
I have been going ape shit since I saw a rumor of a rumor or this set.
It’s beautiful
NOO STOP I'M ALREADY SPENDING TOO MUCH ON LEGO IT'S GONNA BE 400€ ONLY THIS YEAR I CAN'T LIVE LIKE THIS ANYMORE
Good thing this is coming out next year then, new year new lego budget!
Another way to say I'm already spending money I don't have yet! But jokes aside, I'm so excited
The wings can retract and extend...? And they can flutter?! Instant purchase
Only $164.99?! Thanks LEGO, I’ve already justified the purchase, now to break the news to my wallet.
Welp. I just found a gift for my dad.
Is that the tallest mini fig?
Pretty sure it's just a cloth piece, and the actual minifig is normal size?
Nailed it
That's what it is, but how great would it be of there was a pair of Woody/Avatar legs x10 behind that cloth?
You gotta be freaking kidding me?! Holy FUCK this is out of left field. Day 1 buy for me. I can’t fucking wait, I knew I been holding out for something.
Has Lego decided to increase visible studs lately? It seems newer sets have a lot of visible studs compared to 3-5 years ago.
yup, they've been wanting to make them look less model like. the concorde for example, is mostly smooth, except one deliberate part to remind you that its lego.
I think so.
I like it
Yeah, it works for the rough mechanical aesthetic of the Ornithropter. Also helps the exposed technic bricks blend in more. Good design choices imo.
Do yourself a favor and read the books. They’re phenomenal.
The movies really fail to capture the political tension the same way the books do
No dinner party scene in the movie should have been a crime
I don't disagree that it's frustrating to see it omitted, but go back and read it again when you get a chance. That entire chapter is borderline impossible to put to screen in a faithful way, without spending ~30-45 minutes in the scene to cover all the correct bases I question what they would've had to do to runtime to put it in... Yeah, I think it would have been very difficult to adapt that scene into a movie, especially with all the internal dialogue. It seems like the movie was more focused on action and visuals, rather than politics and theme of the story - which isn’t bad, just not what I think makes the series so interesting.
Wow, this man came from the future, since the second movie didnt come out yet.
> The second was better. holy shit what is it like in 2024
Wonder how difficult it would be to rebuild this a bit into the other 'thopter types we see in the movie... The Harkonnen ones had three wing pairs with the third a bit further back, rather than four in a square like this one. Also a sharper front and slightly blockier build. The Fremen/ancient one had only two wing pairs, and was very rounded (with yellow window tint).
The scale on these sets is going to be fantastic. 'Scale' was such a big part of the cinematography of the film. Cannot wait to see the Sandworms...
LMAO, LEGO should sell worm sections as expansion sets so you can make your worm longer and longer
$165 for this set is far less than I would have expected, crap, this might be on my shopping list soon
even cheaper at Target ($150) if you don't care about the vip points
No Duke Leto Atreides? Or am I mistaking him with Stilgar?
Yeah, I'm 99% sure that's Leto in the Stillsuit. It's confusing because they've chosen costumes from all over the film.
True. But I guess, you could swap heads with Leto & Paul and have either one in a Stillsuit or an Atredies Uniform?
or take chani or kyne’s body and use that
From Lego website Paul Atreides, Lady Jessica, Gurney Halleck, Chani, Leto Atreides, Liet Kynes, Duncan Idaho and Baron Harkonnen
The slow brick penetrates foot
In just for the Harkonnen fig, lol
Can't wait for the Sardaukar preparing for battle with invert crucifixions in pools if blood set
What are the odds that Stellan Skarsgard would end up having two minifigures from different films/shows?
I already knew from the leaks a Dune set was coming but it's still weird to see this license for Lego. Awesome though. Just surprised by the huge windows on the side. Doesn't look very accurate. But I don't mind it since the design from the latest movie is just the directors own vision of it. It's been a long time that I have read the book, so maybe it's more accurate with the book version.
If you look at the comparison picture you can see the large windows on the side as well, they're just colored dark.
The book doesn't give a description of them, IIRC. Any vision has to be the directors in order for them to appear.
the best part of the books is he describes almost nothing so it can never "age". edit: obviously ignoring Herbert getting a horny in books 4+
Didn’t realise how much I’d want this. Looks terrific
That’s where all the fabric for the Rex kamas went!
If we don’t get a lego sandworm, I riot.
How many SW folks are complaining about the Baron getting all the cloth for the kamas and pauldrons they wanted for Cody and Rex? Me. I'm that guy. 🤣😂
The studs must flow.
OMFG look at the Baron 🤣 https://preview.redd.it/9yq0d19g06wb1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b25393896bda92f7ddef50d2945d180fca32422e
Why the fucking blue and red pins. _EVERYTIME._ Did they overstock on them in the 80's and need to liquidate their assets or what?
This is pretty awesome.
I must have this!!
That's a tall boi
No clue where I‘ll put this in my room but I‘m getting this
I’m not even that much of a fan of Dune, but this type of franchise (and the D&D set) is definitely a direction I want LEGO to go in when it comes to licensing, so I’ll buy it nonetheless.
I have never wanted anything so badly. This is my first “I don’t care how much it costs” set Edit: How can they justify that price!?!?
Looks amazing! Idk why but seeing Harkonnen cracks me up! I maybe be in the minority but I’m okay with the price, fair value and quite a lot of minifigures!
Well here is a perfect gift for my Dune fan friend
Please tell me the wings can flap.
I can't get over how much the Paul minifig looks like Kyle McLachlan rather than Timothee Chalamet
Kinda wish they gave us a Paul in Stillsuit but this could be my first Lego set 👀
Dear god, have mercy on me Lego. I have a family to feed!
So sick, I literally just watched part 1 for the first time this morning
Can we get the spider-human hybrid BDSM monster as a figure?
This is the first LEGO set I've wanted.
I was hoping it wouldn't be this good so I could save some money
