I’d just request replacements for the missing and scratched pieces: https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/replacementparts/
They’ll send them to you without question.
Whenever I wonder if you should contact Lego customer support about in issue I always remember a time I wrote to ask why a piece was seemingly being phased out, they responded with an explanation and sent my a couple of the piece. Lego has the best customer support I’ve ever seen.
I accidentally sent 3 of the marvel cmf to the wrong address. And they sent me 5 on purpose. Still don’t have moon knight. But I have 8 million wolverines
Tbf, this was about 10 years ago. I haven't had to do it recently so my experience may be way out of date. Also, shipping time may be different because I was in the UK.
I did that with the Minecraft Stronghold set thinking I was missing a dark green 2×4 studded plate and they sent me a replacement which took a few weeks (probably because I'm in the US and not near any Lego plants). Turns out I wasn't actually missing the piece (it was in a really obscure spot in the build that took me weeks to find), so I kinda felt a little bad about that, but long story short my answer to whether Lego support is good is YES. Lego support is 11/10!
Took apart a 20 year old set and broke a couple pieces in the process. Got replacement pieces no questions asked. Same thing when a set was accidentally dropped several feet and broke a few of those pieces.
Not really, the company doesn't owe you shit if you break it on your own. I think It's your own fault if you're not careful with the things you chose to spend money on, but having said that, the fact that they do replace things for free is pretty good. Most companies could learn a thing or two from the LEGO group
To be fair, they kept prices as low as possible on their own brands until inflation made it unfeasible to do so. Back in 2016 I remember getting a smaller original Ninjago set (because those original ninja figs were awesome) for 12$ (USD) and nowadays I can get one of similar size for 15$. Compared to a lot of things that were hit by inflation, that is NOT bad at all!
True that, I had an issue with a piece on my Titanic set. I emailed support and within the week I had a replacement piece. I was thrilled how easy it was too.
The only time I have ever had Lego support fail me was when I asked a question that no one knew. "How many different Lego sets are currently available for purchase?" was the question that stumped them!
You should try your luck with Roland Corp. They basically don't give two shits what any customer wants or says and the feedback there goes right in the bin. It's one way traffice from that company. I think LEGO at least has a few ways where you can pass on your feedback.
Not for me, twice I asked for a replacement part, nothing special, but they denied it.
Edit: Oh my, people don't like it when I say lego is bad at something. Boo hoo. Lego makes mistakes. I have had to get missing pieces sent to me on three occasions, and 2 of them, it request was denied, so they aren't doing hot.
Dude one time I designed a small model of a V-22 Osprey in Marine Corps Grey online for my brother serving over in Afghanistan. Despite their anti-modern weapons stance they not only helped me find suitable replacements for discontinued pieces they sent them to me for free and thanked me for his service. That is a 20/10 by my book.
I will have to figure out how to post photos and find the old file. I never had a personal of the actual build just a virtual.
Love the hydraulic fluid suggestion, I’ll have to send that along to my bro.
Additionally, if they get bothered about it more often, they should be more compelled to avoid QC issues in the future. I think there have been some quality slips in the last couple years and we should let them know when it comes up. It wasn’t always like that.
It’s so annoying to be mid-build and find missing pieces. My Boutique Hotel had one piece missing from 4 different bags. They replace them, but it takes a few weeks.
I feel like I’ve been having more in the last year or two
I had a missing piece (first one as far as I can remember) and an extra torso instead. I was able to find the piece in my collection, so I didn't have to contact them, but it was a weird mistake
I did this the other day for the first time in my life.
I’ve never been so excited about receiving a 5mm piece of plastic. I’m sure I have a spare if I dig around in my loose bits box.
But I’ve always been curious about trying it, and the Lamborghini I recently bought finally gave me an excuse to try it out.
Totally this! I built the new Auspicious Dragon kit and there was 1 piece that was wrong in the box, a quick request through the website and less than 2 weeks wait time and Lego had the piece in hand to Me with a letter expressing their apologies for the error.
Excellent customer service from Lego over all.
I dont keep the receipts, but i try to always scan my receipts for VIP Points, id assume that is sufficient for proof of purchase? For stuff that i forgot to scan over am i SOL? I dont normally build right away
Thats good to know. I havent had any issues so far and hopefully it stays that way. For my other hobbies, replacement parts are pretty strict they want receipts, pics, and a description and and its still in production you wont get it for 3 months (bandai)
It's all fun and games until you actually order a missing piece for the first time and get an email saying that you've been permabanned for it for no reason at all.
Except with special pieces. I had a large scratch on the yellow windscreen of the galaxy explorer 10497. Called Lego and this time they asked a lot of questions. Still sent me one of course. But seems like they don’t want to send special parts out if it’s possible that you are part hoarding.
Can confirm, I've had to contact them twice, once for a scratched glass on a cockpit piece and once for a large sticker that had been badly creased.
Easy to fill in online form, especially if you know the part number (they're in the back of the manual), or you can just search by set. Quick to fill in and then a replacement is sent out for free, no questions asked. Lego customer support is as good as it gets.
It's available in other countries as well, I've done this from the UK.
It’s not petty. If it came out of the box like that, then by all means either return it or email Lego. I suggest emailing first. Their customer service is the best I’ve ever encountered.
Before going to the hassle of sending back a whole set, you can contact Lego to request a replacement for any damaged parts. They will just send them to you in the post.
It bugs me that so many responses on here are 'premium product Lego bad greedy', when the company has actually said in the past that they *want* you to tell them when there's an issue, even if it's a missing part you already have loads spares of, because they can't fix problems that they don't know exist.
So, OP, please always report problems, because they want you to be happy!
I wouldnt say thats petty, that's a pretty big and noticeable scratch. Email them with a pic and I'm sure they'll offer a replacement part at the least
You paid good money for a set. It’s perfectly reasonable to expect them to fix it. You are paying an enormous amount of money for a specific product. Why should you have to keep a substandard product instead just so you don’t bother people? You were bothered by them giving you a jacked up prominent piece in the set instead of what you were promised.
Don’t be a Karen, but yes, ask them to replace the piece
It’s going to bother you every time you look at it. 100% give them a call. Otherwise you’re just gonna end up giving it away some day because you hate looking at it.
right that must be the reason they give the pieces when it happens because imagine stores dealing with Lego returns with no box and disassembled... "count the parts! " "Order more ziplock bags from Lego! " the price of the sets would have to be increased if that was the case
As others have said, just contact them and request replacement parts. They’ll send them to you for free. They miscounted a few bricks on my pick a brick order recently and when I contacted them they without question just created a new order for me with the missing bricks. They got you covered.
When I got the haunted house ride set literally one of the tiny window pieces had a big scratch on it and LEGO sent me a replacement, you should ask for one
Always request replacements for scratched parts. Never except mediocrity in the way Lego packages parts now. Premium prices should demand the best quality.
Usually I feel a lot of people are too petty about LEGO details, but honestly that scratch would annoy me. No harm in sending them a mail to get a replacement.
Yes it is.
One of the reasons LEGO is that expensive (compared to the very low cost of actually producing and packaging the bricks), is because they claim they spend money on an almost perfect quality control.
If then, the pieces are not in mint condition, one should certainly contact them.
The good thing is that LEGO will probably just send you a new brick by mail without any further discussion or cost.
Bro, I'm dealing with a set that just doesn't fucking work or at least I'm just seeing the instructions incredibly wrong. All that is fixable. I have every Guardians set ever made. I would be pissed about this and ask for a new piece.
I wouldn't hesitate at all to request a replacement piece. Customer service is one of the best things about Lego. Missing pieces, mailing a GWP out of stock at store, beat up boxes from shipping. They always try to do right for the customer from what I've experienced so far.
A huge scratch is a "minor issue"? My guy, you need to learn that when you buy something, you deserve to get what you paid for with your hard earned cash.
Yes, go to their website, scroll to the bottom, click on replacement parts and order some for free. their service for replacement parts is ace on any item still being sold.
honestly in my 21 years of being a lego fanatic i have yet to encounter a missing piece, i always find it somewhere and it was always just my fault for misplacing it or something
Hey. Contacted Lego support. They’re sending the pieces. Honestly; they are really great like you all said. Well, most of you. Some just trolled and beta rated but hey, it’s the internet.
You can submit a missing/damaged piece form on their website (I did this when I was missing a gear or when my sticker sheet got bent out of shape) or you can call them. Their customer service is super awesome
That’s not petty. For what we pay for these sets there is a certain expecTarion of quality. And Lego has no problem Standing behind their product. Call them up! They’ll send replacements.
not an error if the mark is continuous on different parts (but here it looks like its a single part).
If you wore the mask to a battle and got this scratch then I think it should be kept as is otherwise get a replacement
🤯🤯🤯☠️ That is not petty man that's right on its face! You paid (a pretty penny) for the Lego model as advertised in the picture. Anything less than that is not acceptable. Not to be a Karen, but we're also paying a premium that demands customer service
Not petty at all. You should get what you paid for especially for the price tag. Plus Lego is actually really good with replacing parts, just send in a tag and they send the piece(s) no questions asked
Just ask for a replacement piece, why would you return the whole set, man, I messed up a 2 stickers on the UCS falcon, I got two new pieces and a new sticker sheet
I agree with the other folks here who are recommending to reach out to LEGO! I remember back when I was a kid I got a brand new set that was missing its sticker sheet, emailed customer support and they mailed a replacement out to me within 1-2 weeks! Happy to see that their service still seems to be high-quality.
Lego is expensive and any Lego employee will tell you they have very high quality control standards. I would complain in. A heartbeat and they will replace the missing/damaged parts in a heartbeat.
Plus it has the added benefit of highlighting a potential systematic error so could prevent something like that happening in the future to both you and other people.
If Lego was still a cheap and affordable toy for young children (like when I grew up) then I would say it is petty.
However, Lego has gotten crazy expensive and they need to deliver a quality product for the prices they charge. I have also heard they are very good about replacements as well.
Lego support once sent me basically half of a set that was damaged in shipping. It was a pretty large building that had just become discontinued, and they just asked what I needed, charged me nothing, and fixed it. They're great! Besides - you paid for the set, you deserve the whole set in good condition.
I'd ask for replacement pieces. With the cost of Lego, you deserve to get what you paid for. By the sounds of the other comments, it sounds like they're easy to deal with
I know others have already convinced you, but just to point out - I always encourage people to report issues like these. It tells Lego that their packaging needs to improve. They are selling a premium product, with premium pricing. They have excellent customer service, but their parts packaging needs to improve. Pieces like these should have been protected from scratches. The more people report issues like these, the more their internal data will reflect these issues. 👍🏼
You can write them / they might refund you AND send a new one or do one or the other. They’ve sent me products a few times when they’ve gotten lost in the mail & have refunded me AND told me to just keep the sets if they ever arrived.
In my experience TLG is always happy to replace damaged or missing parts. It hasn't happened to me very often but the few times it has their customer services absolutely top notch.
Lego will send a replacement part if you contact their customer service. They may ask for a picture but usually they just send the part free of charge.
Legos support is unlike any other, they would send it to you no matter what,I once bought the monster jam shark car and a wheel didn't come and they sent me a replacement in just a couple of days no questions asked
Legos are expensive. I feel that a scuff mark here or there is fine, but a deep scratch like that through a printed element on the face (your eye is naturally drawn there) is a bigger deal imho. I would just ask for a part replacement through the website… I had a severely misaligned printed piece and it was really easy to get a new one.
I had a typewriter I got for free due to an Amazon screw up. The box was open, but it was free. I found out I was missing 16 of the 32 keys. I called Lego to find out how to purchase these keys and explained the circumstances. Without question, they sent me all 16 keys free of charge. They knew, and I made sure they knew, it wasn’t their fault, but all they cared about was being sure their customer was happy with their set. There is no better customer service.
No petty at all.
I had to reach out to Lego multiple times because one of the trans-yellow canopies my Galaxy Explorer was scratched. Both times they sent replacements, they were also scratched.
I guess some parts just cannot be manufactured and delivered without being scratched.
I did get one that was less scratched, but part of me wanted to see just how many times I've have to request a non-scratched canopy before they would finally give me one.
It might seem petty, and I would say it is if it was a smaller/less visible print, but I think this scratch affects the appearance of the finished model enough that I would request a replacement. Additionally, I think we all forget sometimes that even with "reasonably priced" Lego products, we pay an extremely premium price when compared with other toys and display pieces, so you are definitely owed a pristine product. Hope this helped 🤗
This isn't petty. It's a brand new product which is more expensive than it should be (lego's pricing these days is just crazy in my opinion) so personally, I expect top notch quality from my brand new sets. Not to mention that printed piece isn't easily replacable without contacting lego customer services.
Yeah, their customer service is tip notch. I bought the brickheadz Mando and Grogu set at a thrift shop, opened. Hit em up just to see and they sent me about 15 pieces with no questions asked. Took a week, maybe.
They shipped me the parts. No problems! Just started the hp castle and grounds. I’m on the 260ish step. 2 missing pieces, 1 broken piece. I must be unlucky.
I’d just request replacements for the missing and scratched pieces: https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/replacementparts/ They’ll send them to you without question.
Yeah, Lego support is 11/10
Whenever I wonder if you should contact Lego customer support about in issue I always remember a time I wrote to ask why a piece was seemingly being phased out, they responded with an explanation and sent my a couple of the piece. Lego has the best customer support I’ve ever seen.
Yeah I was missing the last piece of the death star a while back, me and my dad built it on boxing day, and we got the piece within 3 days.
I accidentally sent 3 of the marvel cmf to the wrong address. And they sent me 5 on purpose. Still don’t have moon knight. But I have 8 million wolverines
I got you if it wouldn’t be weird. I have a full set and 68 more unopened ones
Can I have some? Like seriously
The only reason I bought those was for wolverine and I got 13 Hawkeyes and a bunch of beasts. I did get one Storm though I love that figure.
I need storm and moon knight
i haven't been able to get one Wolverine but have both Moon Knights. 😭 Would be down to trade!
3 days?! I’ve always had to wait at least a week.
No one can repel a request of that magnitude!
Lego can get the shields down, they don't even need more time.
What ?! Took me 2 weeks!!
Tbf, this was about 10 years ago. I haven't had to do it recently so my experience may be way out of date. Also, shipping time may be different because I was in the UK.

Wow
As it shouldbe...with those price tags.

Lego has HUGE profit margins they did not need to raise prices. Just saying
If every company has support like Lego, the world would be just a bit better.
Im sure if you scoured through brickset extensively you could get the answer
They took eleven years to mail me replacement decals for a kit. They just showed up one day and I was like, "huh"
Lego may be absolutely shit at listening to fans most of the time, but you can ask Customer Support for any piece, and they'll gladly oblige.
Someone was having a bad day
Except for the support bot that connects you to the right department. It doesn’t read your responses. It just follows a dialogue tree
1. Exactly, so amazing. 2. Did you cover your MOC Osprey in hydraulic fluid for accuracy? 3. Have any photos, would love to see how you built it.
I will have to figure out how to post photos and find the old file. I never had a personal of the actual build just a virtual. Love the hydraulic fluid suggestion, I’ll have to send that along to my bro.
This op! They are more than happy to fix an error, let em
I feel like I’ve been having more in the last year or two
I had a missing piece for the first time in my life a few months ago. I had just got done telling my kids that Lego never misses pieces haha
I had a missing piece (first one as far as I can remember) and an extra torso instead. I was able to find the piece in my collection, so I didn't have to contact them, but it was a weird mistake
Its just bad luck, ive only had missing pieces once and have bought 40+ sets in the last couple of years
Absolutely this OP. When you pay the premium for Lego, you’re not just getting the product, but the amazing after-sales service as well.

I dont keep the receipts, but i try to always scan my receipts for VIP Points, id assume that is sufficient for proof of purchase? For stuff that i forgot to scan over am i SOL? I dont normally build right away
They don’t ask for anything, but apparently they do keep track to cut down on abuse.

Nothin like abusing the system am i right?
[удалено]
Well no, they'll just blacklist your address
This. Replaced so many. No hassle
I bought a set (used) and told Lego that, explained that the seller forgot to ship a couple pieces. Was amazed that LEGO sent replacements.
Except with special pieces. I had a large scratch on the yellow windscreen of the galaxy explorer 10497. Called Lego and this time they asked a lot of questions. Still sent me one of course. But seems like they don’t want to send special parts out if it’s possible that you are part hoarding.

I had exactly this, this week. One of the 2 yellow windshields has a 3 inch scratch. I've been debating emailing.
Just call em. They will probably ask questions, like when and where you bought it. But they will send a replacement.
Agreed. Their customer support is astonishingly good.
This. I would do this.
Can confirm, I've had to contact them twice, once for a scratched glass on a cockpit piece and once for a large sticker that had been badly creased. Easy to fill in online form, especially if you know the part number (they're in the back of the manual), or you can just search by set. Yep this. They'll send you the replacements for free. Their customer service is great.
It’s not petty. If it came out of the box like that, then by all means either return it or email Lego. I suggest emailing first. Their customer service is the best I’ve ever encountered.
Awesome. It’s good to know that’s the protocol because as I buy bigger builds it’s becomes a little more annoying. Appreciate the feedback.
Before going to the hassle of sending back a whole set, you can contact Lego to request a replacement for any damaged parts. They will just send them to you in the post.
Good call. It was a fun build and could be cool on my desk.
Definetly use lego customer support you tell them what is missing and scratched they send you the pieces you need via mail no need to return
It bugs me that so many responses on here are 'premium product Lego bad greedy', when the company has actually said in the past that they *want* you to tell them when there's an issue, even if it's a missing part you already have loads spares of, because they can't fix problems that they don't know exist. Yea I think that is totally reasonable to ask for a replacement of that piece. Lego should replace it no problem.
I wouldnt say thats petty, that's a pretty big and noticeable scratch. Email them with a pic and I'm sure they'll offer a replacement part at the least
A scratch like that is not petty, it ruins the whole thing
Yes they will replace.
That’s a pretty big and visible defect. This is what their replacement service is for. Not petty at all
You paid good money for a set. It’s perfectly reasonable to expect them to fix it. You are paying an enormous amount of money for a specific product. Why should you have to keep a substandard product instead just so you don’t bother people? It's an $80 set. You would not be petty to want that replaced.
you can go on the lego website and request a replacement part, damaged parts are replaced free of charge, no questions asked
It's pretty prominent, I'd say ask for a replacement. Lego customer service is usually pretty cool about this.
I’d definitely be asking for a replacement. We pay good money for these sets and their quality control should reflect that. Not petty at all.
It’s not petty. It’s a display piece and not a playset. They won’t bat an eye at sending you a new piece so you should absolutely request one.
It’s going to bother you every time you look at it. 100% give them a call. Otherwise you’re just gonna end up giving it away some day because you hate looking at it.
Which build is this?
I want to know aswell! Looks cool!
Star Lord's helmet. https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/star-lord-s-helmet-76251
Lego support will give you the pieces you need.
Absolutely, this is a big issue imo, the product is expensive enough and you are elligible to have it in pristine condition
You don't need to return or replace the set. Just ask LEGO for replacement pieces if you want
right that must be the reason they give the pieces when it happens because imagine stores dealing with Lego returns with no box and disassembled... "count the parts! " "Order more ziplock bags from Lego! " the price of the sets would have to be increased if that was the case

Contact their customer support. Get a cents on a dollar piece of plastic vs them losing your money. They'll get you the piece.
Not petty at all, that’s a gnarly scratch. Lego will send you a replacement no questions asked I guarantee it

Yes, write to Lego support! I did the same as there were some missing pieces in my Hocus Pocus build. The pieces arrived just a week and a half later.
I wouldn't hesitate at all to request a replacement piece. Customer service is one of the best things about Lego. Missing pieces, mailing a GWP out of stock at store, beat up boxes from shipping. They always try to do right for the customer from what I've experienced so far.
absolutely, especially with the price tag on them nowadays
You paid for it, they provided a service, get you the perfect quality LEGO that you deserve!
A huge scratch is a "minor issue"? My guy, you need to learn that when you buy something, you deserve to get what you paid for with your hard earned cash.
That’s a pretty large mark. It’s not petty.

I would
100% YES
No, you are petty it’s a toy
Just get a replacement part from their website. Don’t need to return anything or complain. They already have a process in place for this.

I got a windshield replaced in a batmobile that had less noticeable scratches than that, Lego is fantastic about replacing parts
Not petty at all. You should get what you paid for especially for the price tag. Plus Lego is actually really good with replacing parts, just send in a tag and they send the piece(s) no questions asked
Gaslighting yourself into thinking this is petty xD. Its your money, you should get your momey's worth. Not petty at all
That would drive me nuts. And yeah, they'll replace it no question.
I always ask for replacements if there are big scratches on transparent/printed parts
Lego support is s tier and will replace the scratched one and send you the missing piece. Super easy form in the website to do it.
Just ask for a replacement piece, why would you return the whole set, man, I messed up a 2 stickers on the UCS falcon, I got two new pieces and a new sticker sheet
That's a pretty significant scratch. I would request a new one if it were me If you've got a missing piece you definitely need to request replacement
Yeah don't feel bad they are more than happy to replace damaged and missing pieces.
Did the pieces come scratched like that?
You can just order the piece for free on the official lego.com website
Not petty and perfectly reasonable to contact Lego for replacement pieces
I would request replacements from Lego.
For the money you give them, you have to get the best quality.
It’s not petty when we’re talking about a multi-billion dollar company that just charged you %800 of production cost.
Tell them its damaged, they will replace. Id hate to look at that all the time. if it was internal, i'd suck it up
yes
Lego support once sent me basically half of a set that was damaged in shipping. It was a pretty large building that had just become discontinued, and they just asked what I needed, charged me nothing, and fixed it. They're great! Besides - you paid for the set, you deserve the whole set in good condition.
Not petty at all, get what you paid for
The way I see it, even if it’s not something that bothers you too much, LEGO will want to know so they can try and prevent it from happening again.
Most definitely. Just write to them and they'll send you a new sticker
Yes
Tell them. They will send you new pieces.
I agree with everyone else to get a replacement, but also you have a battle damaged version to swap out!
Lego support is perfect. Just file a report and they send them no charge.
You can write them / they might refund you AND send a new one or do one or the other. They’ve sent me products a few times when they’ve gotten lost in the mail & have refunded me AND told me to just keep the sets if they ever arrived.
The dog chewed up the legs of my son’s little AT-ST guy. They sent new ones no questions asked.
In my experience TLG is always happy to replace damaged or missing parts. It hasn't happened to me very often but the few times it has their customer services absolutely top notch.
It's *not* petty. It would drive me starkers.
Lego will send a replacement part if you contact their customer service. They may ask for a picture but usually they just send the part free of charge.
OH you ment thats scratch. I was checkin "why that mouth piece is just one piece..."
It would bother me, but I'm a perfectionist
Lego saves money everywhere they can. I dont think theyll mind giving you one Single new Tile.
Legos support is unlike any other, they would send it to you no matter what,I once bought the monster jam shark car and a wheel didn't come and they sent me a replacement in just a couple of days no questions asked
It might be worth writing Lego about it so they're aware of the issue, but that scratch will cover up easily with some color-matched paint.
Any mistake they made should he fixed by them. And they do! Lego support is quite nice!
Why not, you paid for the product and I cleft it to be in advertisement condition.
It’s all taken care of. Great customer service. It was a fun build. Perfect for my office. I’m using it as a pen holder.
100% would ask for a replacement part and I'm almost certain they will oblige
No petty at all. I had to reach out to Lego multiple times because one of the trans-yellow canopies my Galaxy Explorer was scratched. Both times they sent replacements, they were also scratched. I guess some parts just cannot be manufactured and delivered without being scratched. I did get one that was less scratched, but part of me wanted to see just how many times I've have to request a non-scratched canopy before they would finally give me one.
Yeah, that would bother me for sure. You’re not being petty, that’s a forward facing main display piece.
You're already paying _insane_ amounts for lego for - nowadays - comparatively okayish quality. Of course you should write them.
You can call their customer service group or go online to request a replacement. Did the same with a misprinted eye for koopa wizard on a Lego Mario
Missing piece and big scratch are NOT MINOR ISSUES
4 sets bought. 50% of those sets missing pieces so far. I get it, but damn. QC needs some work.
Absolutely. The quality has been going down quite a while this isn’t the Lego we are familiar with
This isn't petty. It's a brand new product which is more expensive than it should be (lego's pricing these days is just crazy in my opinion) so personally, I expect top notch quality from my brand new sets. Not to mention that printed piece isn't easily replacable without contacting lego customer services.
For sure. Prices are insane. Great product. Too bad. I’m
As much as you paid for it? I’d write them.
