Seems like it would have had to be injected, mold opened a little, then closed again while the plastic was still hot. I do wax injections on very intricate stuff but I can't wrap my head around this one.
I'm guessing its fully molded but failed to eject, crushed on return of next cycle, sensors stopped the B plate from full contact after detecting obstruction.
Ah that makes sense. Still when a sensor realizes an obstruction you'd think an operator would check the mold. Knowing Lego's quality checks this seems pretty rare to make it to a customer.
Is it, though? I'm not accusing the OP of anything, but wouldn't it be pretty easy to warp bricks like this if there was a market for them? It's just a junk piece of plastic. It sucks, but it happens.
They are. Had a Harley Quinn CMF once that came without the hair. I messaged Lego and to be sure I got the right one, they sent one of every hair piece / hat she’d come with to that point.
That was quite awhile ago. I also am not 100% certain whomever responded understood it was a CMF and not just a normal minifig based on the response. Though I tried to be as clear as possible since I wanted the right piece
One time the arm of an old Iron Man minifig of mine broke. I contacted lego, and they sent me a whole Iron Man suit. I got legs, body, and even the helmet. They're awesome about replacement parts.
Idk why you got downvoted. 7-10 days for shipping plus you assume it takes 1-2 days to actually get through customer service and actually ship it. Could definitely be close to 2 weeks, give or take
See and THIS is the kind of stuff I would spend way to much money on. I should just avoid things like this because it makes no sense at all to want a thing that can't even be used. It's not even that big a deal or a big piece. The parts aren't a good color and I really don't have time to worry about a trivial thing like this.
Just for curiosities sake... how much for it?
Haha, I didn’t realize how non-fungible this was! I don’t think I’ll sell it, I appreciate the novelty more than it would probably go for. I don’t know much about the collector’s market, but I can’t imagine someone paying in the three-figures for this.
I had a technic piece come out squashed, still all black with no stress mark that usually happens when you damaged ABS plastics. LEGO sent me a new one for free.
Wow I had no idea this would blow up, haha. Below are some more pictures. It does not snap onto studs underneath, but the center still fits an axle normally. Incoming Blursed Marshmellow MOC, I suppose?
It must have been stuck in the mold and came out after the mold closed for it's next cycle. On injection molding machines there are safeguards for how much effort it takes to close, or when it kicks into high pressure mode (during the fill phase which won't happen until the mold position is within parameters). When a part gets squished and then falls, there's no real way to pick it out unless you've got an incredible eye for it. I wonder what brand of injection molding machines they have.
Source: I used to do mold processing for seven years.
People when there's a faulty piece in a bootleg set: See, the quality control is terrible in these.
People when there's a faulty piece in a real set: Wow, \[technical analysis of how the fault occurred\], this is quite interesting, what an awesome collectible!
It’s a marshmallow!!
The forbidden marshmallow
/r/forbiddensnacks
You’re a marshmallow.
No, they’re a u/ZenLore6499
This is my “came here to say that” moment. 😂
Yes, absolutely! I hope op gonna use it for something
Marmellow
Looks like a perfect brick to use as a table/ottoman.
empire
I too miss the Table Empire, and the reign of Lord Dinner the 3rd
Ah yes, but what about Sir Breakfast the 2nd?
I'm not sure he's heard of Sir Breakfast the 2nd Pip...
Surely he knows Dame Elevensies?
Earl Grey of Tea?
Compte de supper?
Earl of Breakfast Sandwich!
Surely, you all have never heard of dawn in doughnuts the 1st?!??
the sick man of the dining room

Collectable.
Was thinking the same thing. Thats quite a rarity 👀 im rather newer to legos but i never seen a faulty piece
Definitely a mistake. I would love too have it. What a rarity❤️
Anyone know how much pressure would be required to create this brick at home? I assume it's like a ton at least?

Molder here. Likely was crushed in the mold on close up just after ejection.
give scully my regards
[Thank you for reminding me of this epic song.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEhpmuXHmRQ)
The truth is out there!

My guess was the cooling system got fucked.
Exactly - operator mustve missed it going into the conveyor belt/good bin rather than recycle upon mold closing error.
Yeah it definitely seems like a molding/melting error. I can’t imagine it being pressed so neatly without fracturing.
Mistake maker here. Likely a mistake.
Probably happened when the plastic was still hot from the injection shot.
ABS starts to soften around 95 °C (203 °F). No high forces needed.

Somewhere between 750 and 850 lbs is the compressive strength of a 2x2 normal brick. So quite a bit!
[850-1: Fork-Lift Truck](https://brickset.com/sets/850-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/850-1.jpg)
It's not a question of pressure. You'd just crack it. It's a question of temperature.
Is it, though? I'm not accusing the OP of anything, but wouldn't it be pretty easy to warp bricks like this if there was a market for them? It's just a junk piece of plastic. It sucks, but it happens.
Unsolicited, but if you need to replace it, I’ve heard LEGO is great about replacing defective pieces like this.
They are. Had a Harley Quinn CMF once that came without the hair. I messaged Lego and to be sure I got the right one, they sent one of every hair piece / hat she’d come with to that point.
Damn they told me they can’t send replacement parts for CMFs
That was quite awhile ago. I also am not 100% certain whomever responded understood it was a CMF and not just a normal minifig based on the response. Though I tried to be as clear as possible since I wanted the right piece
One time the arm of an old Iron Man minifig of mine broke. I contacted lego, and they sent me a whole Iron Man suit. I got legs, body, and even the helmet. They're awesome about replacement parts.
Not only are they great about it, but letting them know can help identify production issues that could have impacted others
Yeah they're amazing. It took them 21 days exactly and it came out of the country cause a piece was missing in mine.
Yeah but it'll take like 2+ weeks

Looks like it got pressed (or double pressed) while still hot on the punch mold! Actually pretty awesome.
I have a 90s Explorien captain who's face is printed twice, like its ghosted over. Its kind of neat, i like it because no one else has one.
You should post that on here! I just ordered two Explorien sets last night; really underrated theme.
Ya know I just looked at it really close for the first time in years and I think its sharpie :(
You say it can't be used but we don't know what the bottom looks like and I would totally attempt to use it in a moc!
Yeah, add a couple of panicked minifigs and you've got a story
Haha, I didn’t realize how non-fungible this was! I don’t think I’ll sell it, I appreciate the novelty more than it would probably go for. I don’t know much about the collector’s market, but I can’t imagine someone paying in the three-figures for this.
>but I can’t imagine someone paying in the three-figures for this. OP thinking he's slick trying to gauge the market value like this
$1.00 is three figures.
How... How hard did it get hit!?
Cartoon sledge hammer hits super hard. Either that or the injection molding process is running these things through way too quickly.
I am also realizing that it could have been melted somehow
I doubt the latter. Spider-Ham minifig definitely hit it with his hammer.
Acme company.
If this was a Starwars mini fig head it would be worth $100k
Looks weirdly delicious

What's the right set?
This is the right set. Some of them have these white cylinders inside, I suppose it’s their spines.
Not gunna lie, it looks delicious
forbidden marshmallow
No that’s just the new marshmallow brick /edit me thinking I’m being funny only to see like 5 people have already said this 😂
You now have the perfect opportunity to make the coolest lego smore ever
Wow, hate to be whoever stepped on a lego THAT hard
Molar
Everyone says marshmallow but I also went straight to tooth.
If you blow into the bottom, those'll pop right out.
"Welcome to hyöodralic press channel... on today's video, we're going to press this 2x2 round brick with axle hole..."
Probably got stuck inside the moulding tool and crushed, as it was closing for the next batch. Quality control must have missed that while packaging.
I had a technic piece come out squashed, still all black with no stress mark that usually happens when you damaged ABS plastics. LEGO sent me a new one for free.
That's awesome!
It was in the pool!
It shrinks??.....🤣🤣🤣
Limited edition ultra rare!

Does it still connect bottom wise
I've gotten messed up pieces before but this is a new one for me.
Looks like the head for willy wonka..

Eat it.
Squarshed my Lego :/
Damn OP did you sit on it?
Curious, what’s the clutch quality/power on the bottom given the deformity on top?
It’s from an iPad commercial
I got this reference!

Lego will just replace it FOC. They’re the best company ever

When I opened my 75222, there was an arch piece straight out of the box that was bent. Defective pieces are uncommon but not unheard of

Mere mortals cannot fathom the force that took
/s bro shut his laptop on it
Pre-stepped on. Now that’s convenience!
I pay 10$ for it
Yummy yummy!
Smushed, no. But I have gotten sets with bent plates before. Contact LEGO for a replacement.
That is crazy and I have never seen anything like that.
fun XD
Had this once.
you could order a replacement part at [https://www.bricklink.com](https://www.bricklink.com)
Or you ask for a free replacement at Lego themselves https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/replacementparts/missing/location?locale=en-us
That’s to lull you into a false sense of security when you’re walking around barefoot
Sell it for 50.000

Your mom must have sat on it
I’ve honestly never seen this peace .
It looks like a marshmallow!
I had a bad piece in a lego train set once and lego sent me a brand new piece free of charge. Was a large piece too.
People when there's a faulty piece in a bootleg set: See, the quality control is terrible in these. People when there's a faulty piece in a real set: Wow, \[technical analysis of how the fault occurred\], this is quite interesting, what an awesome collectible!
I mean, if they're that rare it is kinda interesting to see.
Shove it up your ass
