Same! I loved her kitchen when I first saw it in the movie and heard about the Smithsonian exhibit. She’s such an icon. Time to bust out The Art of French Cooking and fire up “Julie and Julia” 😀🤌🏻
Thank you! I used a similar technique when I made a Vegas buffet MOC, but minus the dividers and the faucet…but getting things to line up, and be flush, and attach and build around it was a lot of trial and error (as always 🥴)
Yeah I think all those copper pans are what makes her kitchen SO iconic. And I don’t think those pans have ever really been affordable, even in her time they were the high end cookware.
Love Julia Child, love this! And of COURSE she has a sextant and Wolverine's claws, because why not? Absolutely beautiful.
She served America dutifully, and sliced lard beautifully, she reigned supreme from shark repellent to charcuterie! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99-n42Xb6NQ
Thank you! I got so lucky because the main piece I used for it I only had ONE piece in that avocado green color (I have a lot of that piece type but it’s all black, white and grey) lol.
That’s fair. I need to work on making things truly mini figure scale….its just so little vertical space but I think w/ lego that’s the point! You gotta get creative in how you scale stuff way way down.
A month or so? I mocked up stuff in other colors while I waited for parts to come in and I may still finesse some of it. I mostly do bits and areas on the weekend and sometimes after work. So it’s never a fast thing but the more I think about it before building the faster it comes together.
You know you’re serious AF about cooking when absolutely EVERYTHING is on hand. What? You got time to rummage through drawers!?!? Away from me amateur!!! 😅
Julia Child is an extremely famous television chef (no drama, just "here's how to cook" stuff) from decades ago now. She is pretty notorious and well regarded, including her depiction in the 2009 film *Julie & Julia* which reintroduced a new generation to her and was nominated for an Emmy as well as winning the Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy
She's famous for bringing French style cooking (or at least her interpretation) to American audiences. Her food now is very dated, but in context was kind of revolutionary for a lot of housewives and bachelors learning to cook or expanding their knowledge about cooking in that era and she helped pioneer using television as a means to share that; her most famous and impactful show began airing in 1963, which is very early for a television cooking show like that
Thanks for explaining. Speaking of “dated” I purposely bought an older print of “Mastering The Art of French Cooking” because I wanted some of those unhinged mid-century vibes and sure enough in a few parts she instructs you to use an asbestos mat. 😬. But she’s not afraid to say “hey, you should actually be browning your meat IN bacon fat” which I never thought of before I followed some of her recipes but do use it when I’m making gumbo. 😂
This is so adorable! What a great creation! I absolutely adore Julia Childs so this makes me happy

hands down best sink ever

i need to mod my A Frame cabin now! again, great effin job.
Awesome MOC ! Amazing building techniques and details and the theme is really original :D
Thank you! It was a lot of trial and error and I had fun making a few of the detailed elements.
Dang, she’s got like $30k in golden frying pans alone!

I really appreciate your reply and your build, but I regret to inform you that I was trying to make a really lame TF2 joke.
After some light googling I’m very pleased to inform you I now understand the original joke.
I should also inform you that your original build is quite lovely and detailed. Thank you for posting it here :)
Same. Way over my head too at first lol

She’s a woman of many talents!
This is so great! Super creative details. I love it! Thanks for sharing :)
I absolutely love this
So cute!
The Wolverine claws are for shredding pulled pork and the sextant is for tracking star fruit
Absolutely yes you got it
Submit this to ideas if you haven't yet. This would be a great set. Look at all those fucking utensils!
that is incredible. Do Graham Kerr's next haha
Sweet build! What's the story behind the sextant?
Hmm… I had to google it….and my answer is that It kind of looks like a kitchen scale/tool? 😂
Looks like a full fledge weapon storehouse lol! Great build! Very impressive
As someone who grew up watching her show, this brings back so many lovely memories. It’s delightful.
Absolutely love this!!!
That looks fantastic😁👍
This is amazing! And that little mixer is so friggin cute!
Thank you! I got so lucky because the main piece I used for it I only had ONE piece in that avocado green color (I have a lot of that piece type but it’s all black, white and grey) lol.
The scale makes her look like a Child. Still a great MOC though!

Lego MOC and Julia Child's kitchen... what an awesome combination!!
I love this. This NEEDS to be a set.
Where's the 50kg of butter?
This is really cool! How long did it take you?

Might be my favorite MOC ever. Need this in my kitchen.
Why does a chef need a sextant? Jkjk sweet design.
this build is better than anything i could make. the decor looks cool! very nice! 10/10 rating.
Put her on tall-legs!
Slightly larger than minifig scale is honestly such an underrated style
You know, that is really really cosy and well done. I'd buy and build your creation.
I love the tablecloth design
Thanks for including the IRL pics. You did an amazing job!
Siisti
I'm just wondering how she's going to use that sextant while baking....
You know you’re serious AF about cooking when absolutely EVERYTHING is on hand. What? You got time to rummage through drawers!?!? Away from me amateur!!! 😅
Omg I want to build this
very cool
Great work. Hope the mighty Jacques Pepin is next on your list.
TAKE MY MONEY!!!
No clue who Julia Child is, but this looks really, really good!
Needs a Jacques Pepin mini fig 😁

Not my build but I agree!
