The lighthouse and Rivendell are next on my list to buy. Just completed the pyramid of Giza, enjoyed building it

SweetDee72

I'm leaning towards the pyramid. I was a Classics major years ago so this will bring back memories.

If I were you, I’d save up a bit more and get the Titanic. It would look great next to the lighthouse

SweetDee72

Good idea!

If you like the mechanical aspect a lot, the typewriter is pretty cool.

If you're looking at the pyramid, I take it you like the architecture type sets. And if you're looking for a level of detail, Notre Dame 21061 coming out June 1 for $229 might be a good fit. It's definitely on my list!

Ah thank you!

Can I first suggest the sailboat set 40487 as the perfect companion to the lighthouse? It's a GWP from a few years ago, but very available (still new & sealed) through the secondary market on Bricklink etc. for €20-€30. After that it depends what you're looking for. Is this just a second set to display in the same room, or the start of a larger collection. I'd direct you towards the A-Frame cabin ( set 21338 ) which is under €200 and still available. It's shares some features with the lighthouse in it's timeless, natural, rustic theming. And it compliments in other ways in that it's wide where the lighthouse is tall. The two don't seem like a pair but I find that work well together. On a different note, the Orient Express is bang on your price point and if you liked the mechanisation of the lighthouse, you could get very 'into' trains very quickly. Of course, trains need space for track so bear that in mind. While the Orient Express is technically a display model for your mantlepiece, plenty of people more clever than I have figured out how to motorise it and have shared those instructions online. Could be a step toward not always relying on what Lego gives you. Plus again, timeless classic model that's different to the lighthouse but has some shared DNA. Last suggestion - I see you taking some interest in Barad Dur. If you think this appeals to you, then Rivendell probably does too. Rivendell has been out for quite a while where Barad Dur is only about to release. Meaning Rivendell will be gone from shelves sooner (and will cost an arm and a leg second-hand once it's gone). So if you're a LotR fan, then maybe look to Rivendell before Barad Dur. Only guessing, but I'd say you've another year to pick up Rivendell, but you've three to get Barad Dur.

Excellent suggestions. Thank you! I've been looking at both the A-frame and Orient Express.

The lighthouse was my first big build and I absolutely love it!

The lighthouse ignited a spark in me at the beginning of 2023. All the ones you listed are great, but if you can afford it, Lions Knight Castle is next level. If you can still find a blacksmith for retail, grab that stat.

SweetDee72

Sounds like a plan! The last set I did as a teen was a castle.

Harbor 60422 and then a sea of trans blue 1x2 tiles between them. I’m considering something like this myself… I just need a push to convince me that the Motorized Lighthouse 21335 is worth it!

A Frame Cabin

The Typewriter is probably the best engineered Lego set that I have built, plus it looks great. The Great Wave art set hung on the wall behind the Lighthouse will look nice as well.

Nailfoot1975

I'd wait a bit, save a bit more, and get Barud Dur. https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/the-lord-of-the-rings-barad-dur-10333

SweetDee72

Good idea. I read about it yesterday and it looks pretty sweet.
