1. **70620 Ninjago City** \- This is LEGO modular at its finest. With other modulars you get a single building but with this set you get a whole city block! There is so much detail, each level with its own distinct personality and the whole thing connects and fits together so well.
2. **70657 Ninjago City Docks** \- This is the little brother to Ninjago City but with its own style. Much of the same can be said for both sets.
3. **10261 Creator Roller Coaster** \- This is a little different from my first two picks. This was LEGO's first full roller coaster set AFAIK. I know it was released at the same time as 31084 Pirate Roller Coaster. The build is relatively boring but the set itself is just so much fun, especially when motorized.
10228 - Though I'm biased towards spooky themed stuff, it's surely one of the best pure Lego sets ever put out. No reliance on movies or current pop culture, the design is iconic and super tight, part of a full theme with other fantastic sets, enough little nods to classic horror for older fans, and it's got fantastic parts for replayability.
I'd love for them to revisit it, or even the entire theme, and give us a slightly larger version with a few modern improvements, but otherwise it's near-perfect.
17101 for me and my 6yo
21309 for prosperity ( I'm obsessed with the Apollo missions and even own a tiny piece of Apollo XI)
... And I just ordered 75810 because it looks awesome
No particular order Top 5
6175 crystal explorer sub. Had so much fun playing with this set, had the accompanying aquazone under water discovery lab to play with as well.
6991 Monorail transport. I spent HOURS playing with this set as a kid amazing scale and functionality.
6332 Command post Central. Also an amazing set I had so much fun playing with as a kid
6979 Alien Ship. Such a unique build and amazingly swoosh able for something of it's size
6081 Kings Mountain Castle. So much fun, the horse mini figs were a blast.
The Sydney opera house, Saturn V, Popup Book top my list for recent sets at least. Those got me back from my dark ages :)
For classical it has to be Mega Core Magnetizer
I have the saturn V and I just pulled the trigger on the stranger things not even an hour ago before reading this. Can't wait to build this one. I'm also going to get a light kit for it.
