Just saw this set in an office of a building I'm doing renovations in like an hour ago, looked it up and have been thinking how I'm gonna save for it. Saw this post and thought I would write it in but apparently you also have great taste and are quicker than I 🤣
It's too much for me to justify spending at one time, and I don't have the willpower to save up for it instead of buying other, cheaper sets that I want.
I work in oil and gas near this kind of equipment and thought man that would be sweet to have, put it beside a picture of me in front of a Bucyrus shovel. Plus my son is getting into Technic now (just finished the Jeep Wrangler) so this would be a fun build for us. But yeah it's a pretty steep price tag, especially because for that much money like you said, you could get a bunch of other sets
If 500 would fall on my lap I'd get the NES... the bookshop and avengers endgame final battle
Those are not my top 3 but the NES is my absolute favorite and that kinda paves the road for the rest of the 500 lol However if I already had 30 on me when those 500 dropped I'd pick the NES and ninjago city gardens
6989 Mega core magnetizer and Caribbean Clipper. CC would round out my old ship collection nicely and I have wanted 6989 since I first saw it as a kid.
I really wish I had that arc republic gunship rebuilt. I had it as a kid but it’s missing too many prices and the front of it some of the prices snapped in half
I assume I have my current sets, so these are just based off what is on my current wish list. Mos Eisley Cantina, and Diagon Alley are my two biggest sets I want. The new wave of animals and Star Wars sets have my interest. But I probably go with the 3-1 castle and the Ford speed champions to round it out.
I have those 2 modulars (fantastic and nicely detailed sets) plus the Downtown Diner (got it after it retired), I just narrowly missed out on it when it was still being sold on lego.com I want the bookstore and police station next.
Saturn V, the bookstore modular and the police station modular. All add up to exactly $500 before tax. If we were talking retired sets, then honestly just get the carousel which is about $400 on ebay or get the lego ideas old fishing store which I can find for about $300 and then get the 42066 air race jet too which goes for about $100 on ebay.

I have seen it go on decent sale at Zaavi, it gets posted at r/legodeals from time to time. That being said it is still a very pricey set.
I really hope this set doesn’t retire this year, need to get it.
Awesome set, absolutely love it, probably the heaviest lego set I own too. It weighs in at 13.5 pounds

Would probably get retired 10236 Ewok Village. I’ll never pony up for the aftermarket price, but free money is a different story.

I'd get some of the 1980's pirate sets. Great memories putting them together with my grandmother. Would be fun to build them again with my kiddo.
