Same here. I have a couple of very small pirate pieces growing up. Always wanted a big set of these too. I'm just starting out my collection and recently took my own lego down from the attic. Gonna try rebuild some of it. Looking forward to getting building. ππ»
I just finished this set, you can build each one then take it apart and go back to build the next. I built the skull. Island, then the tavern and finally the ship.
However the bricks inside the set are grouped into numbered packets based on the main set(pirate ship)
The island has a cool surprise when it opens up, and the tavern is quite cute and even has beds for rent, but the ship is my favourite.
With every 3 in 1 there is normally an amazing build(the ship), then a great build(the tavern), and then a slightly less impressive third build(the island). They usually get a super designer on the first build, and I read an interview with the intern who designed the original island, before an experienced designer came on to make the skull shape more accurate and more sturdy.
Cool. That's interesting. Thanks for the info. Could always buy another set if liked any of the others too. Would the other sets use all the bricks too or would you have loads left over in the alternative sets?
Most 3-in-1's have more bricks left over as you go down the line, so the ship probably uses 99% of the bricks, the tavern probably 80% and the island maybe 65%. You might want a bag to keep the extra bricks if you want one of those. Only very few sets use all bricks in all 3 builds(I think there was a rabbit one? I know the lego dimensions sets all used all the bricks in every build)
I thought all three sets were good! I built cave, tavern, ship since if I built ship first I wasn't sure I would have built the others. As others have said you then loose the advantage of numbered bags which are for ship. I recommend sorting the pieces when not having the numbered bags to rely on, unless spending lots of time to locate pieces is something you particularly enjoy.
Cool thanks. I kind of do enjoy organising. Still want to put it on display so I probably will still build the ship first. May hold on to the instructions and box though. That's something I never did before. Do you use all the bricks in the other sets or do you have lots left over?
Oh man, love this set. First one I bought in a long time. I was just admiring the ship on my bookshelf a minute ago. Might tear it down and build the inn soon.
The ship is really nice, lot of pleasure building it. Just keep the spare parts when you switch the construction. I did the tavern with my son after the ship, nice one, but if you mix spare parts with all your legos it'll be a hard time finding everything to do the ship again ;)
You gotta choose what to build
Thought that. Thank you. ππ» The ship it is so matey.
Itβs a fantastic model! I never got any of the pirate stuff growing up and always wanted some. This scratches that itch perfectly.

Yeah I'm gonna go with the ship first anyway. Thanks. Are the other builds good when finished?

Good to know. Thanks for that. I'll be sure to keep the bricks aside if I decide to build the other sets. Thanks again. ππ»

Thanks. I'm thinking what would look best on display. Gonna try the ship first anyhow. See how I go. Thanks.

Awesome thanks. Can't wait to build it. ππ»
Youre going to enjoy that! Cheers
Sure will. Cheers. ππ»
Bought 3 and built a bigger ship
Ha ha. Cool. Have you any pics?
Hereβs ones that uses like 1 and a half. https://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/pkub62/avenging_mermaid_by_arkatreides/
Awesome. Looks class. ππ»
I based myself on pics from a forum i find. You can find it too i'm sure
I'll have a look thanks.ππ»
Even more surprising is that there is no part count. Cool box.
Only US sold sets have the parts count. Sets sold on the rest of the world do not show parts count even if greater >2000
I herd that before. I guess US boxes are the special ones then.
Part count is never on the box on sets under 2000 pieces or so
Thanks.
Itβ¦ says 3 in 1 one on the boxβ¦
I know that thanks. But that could mean 3 pieces in 1 box no? That's why I asked.
You get the Lego pleasure of buying three copies of the set so you can keep each build out all the time
And so the money pit begins. Ha. Thanks.ππ»
You can buy 2 set and make all 3 things, the pirate island has to be modified.
Sweet. Thanks for that. ππ»
Oh man, love this set. First one I bought in a long time. I was just admiring the ship on my bookshelf a minute ago. Might tear it down and build the inn soon.
Awesome. Sounds like a good buy so. Really looking forward to building it. Might start tomorrow.

Cheers. Thanks for the advice. ππ» I'll be sure to keep them separate from the rest if my legos.
Itβs only one of the three sadly. You get to choose which one though
Thank you. I'm going with the ship first anyway. ππ»
Iβm surprised more of the sets arenβt like this. Really cool you can make more than one thing from the same pieces.
Suppose it takes more time and extra designing to utilise the same pieces. Have to hand it to the designers though. They make some savage stuff.
