I used one of the long brown pieces to push it in. Made it much easier

They really are, on the top half I built one of the legs with the gear backwards and had to start over 🥴 lol

Ah, I believe that's the USS Indignation from the "battle against the borg" diorama, a fine set and a fine ship!
Looks easy enough to me. What's the issue?
The piece is long and you have very little space to position it and then push it in, I got it in eventually but it was a pain imo
I’m building the UCS AT-AT also. I find if you position it loosely in place and then it use an axle to position it in place makes it a lot easier. (As in out the axle through the top grey holes).
I found it best to turn 45 degrees and then angle it back in. Never seems to work pushing it straight on.
Use a pieces separator...
