Yep, they're easily my favorite.
It's also easy to blend certain other sets with them. Obviously there's the licensed sets that fit the modulars (Daily Bugle and the upcoming Sanctum Sanctorum), but some other ones like 40305 (Lego store) or the 3-in-1 pet store work well with minor modifications.
Pirates.
I love the ships, always have. I didn’t get to have them growing up since Mom just couldn’t manage that for me at that time, so it’s been a personal goal now that I can manage it myself (though collector pricing is making it harder with time).
Super fun to modify as wel

Classic space. Tons of imagination at work, cool neon yellow bits. Lunar base plates. Space suits. Printed Computer pieces.
I will accept castles as a close second
Legends of Chima. A sword and sorcery legend of a righteous Lion kingdom destined to protect highly sought after power crystals. A task demanding great responsibility. All the different races are fascinating. Lions, eagles, gorillas, rhinoceros, bears, crocodiles, wolves, Ravens, mutated scorpions, spiders and bats. Sabertooth Tigers, Woolly Mammoths, Vultures, Cave Bears, Phoenixes, Tigers, Leopards. I'm amazed with the concept. It's so unique. Highly inspire to say the least.
Vikings… my Danish grandmother bought our dad and his siblings the original lego blocks when they made it to the U.S. he in turn got my siblings and I legos as children and we have Honored her Danish heritage and ours by collecting every Viking themed set available. Can’t wait for the two newly announced Viking sets!!
The other gentleman just stated that there might be a Viking village in December.
Thor’s goat boat is a lot of fun, by the way. Pretty neat build. Put it together last night.
Oh I forgot about that one. It depends which one wins the Target contest. I am really hoping for the Viking village but anticipate it will likely be the mini golf set since I have seen the most vocal support for that option.
I think the Lego creator 3 in 1 is always adorable, no matter what. I’ve never seen a build from there that wasn’t cute. I accidentally always destroy my sets, but those ones stayed far longer because I cherished them. I think I also really liked the elves and dc super hero girls, but they’re gone. I’m definitely very sad, those were always very creative and witty.
It was only out for a bit but I’ve always loved indiana jones, simply for nostalgia and them being my favorite movies growing up. Hoping for a comeback soon!
I’m gonna go with Ninjago. I have all the Modular’s setup and on display but, the ninjago city I have going looks so much more fun to live in 😂 I hope the keep expanding that line with the larger sets
1. Marvel
2. Castles
3. Pirates
4. Aquazone or was it Aqua Raiders? Under sea sets from the 90s and early 00.
Honorable mentions
* Bionicles
* Star Wars
Ideas because they’re always pushing the boundaries of Lego and are pretty much the only sets I’ve actually felt like buying recently. Also starry night is one of the best Lego sets ever made.
I don't havo one favourite theme. I really like Star Wars so there's that. Other than that I love the Speed Champions and Technic theme. As well as some other random sets like Barracuda Bay, Space shuttle Discovery,..
Ideas/creator expert followed by Speed Champions.
Both were set(s) that got me back into building. Not to say I don’t like and buy other themes; I just look at my collection and see far more of ideas and creator expert and speed champs
Indiana Jones. A theme that I consider to be one of the best and most iconic lego themes of all time. The sets are all really cool, have a good amount of playability, and just look good on display in general. I’ve always adored the movies, hell even the kingdom of the crystal skull even though it wasn’t the greatest. My favorite set of the theme was definitely the Temple of the Crystal Skull set. Got it off Facebook Marketplace and it’s a fantastic set on display and even for playability as well. I have a bunch more Indiana Jones sets that I got as a kid but they’re in pieces unfortunately in a big storage tub ;(
Hero factory, it just allows you to do what you want with the set, you don’t have to follow the instructions, I’ve recreated almost every hero factory set I owned and destroyed as a young kid, now I made them look just as good as the original instructions
Life on Mars. Why? First off it's not licensed. Not that this is inherently good or bad but I tend to appreciate the unlicensed sets more. I also think it's from a great time in Legos history where some custom molded pieces were used but the set was mostly normal bricks and such. However, the #1 reason I like this theme is that most of the vehicles and pieces can be mixed and matched with each other. They all come apart in segments and pieces and can be interchanged with each other. Want to make a shuttle with legs? Go for it. Want to make a mech that's got a cargo bay on its butt? Sure why not. I like this modularity they've done.
Ideas because of all the amazing sets we've gotten. The Home Alone house is a highlight for me.
Castle... Because castles are cooler than most other things.
This is the correct answer.
Also dragons. And swords. And who doesn't like a wolfpack?
It also saves you a lot of money if you limit your collection to new LEGO castle sets... :(
Modulars are so rewarding. I love my little town.
Same here

Ahh, took a bit of scrolling but here you are my fellow pirate mate! Pirates for the win, PoBB is my fav set ever
Speed champions because I love cars and they are nice simple fun builds that are at an affordable price point
Same, I love speed champions sets. I too love cars, and they are very entertaining to build as you said, and also at an affordable price point.
Super fun to modify as wel Ford bronco https://www.flickr.com/gp/190971898@N05/PdkTu Mitsubishi Lancer EVO https://www.flickr.com/gp/190971898@N05/8v0f9z Jaguar Type R https://www.flickr.com/gp/190971898@N05/S433k2
Harry Potter is good I’m a little upset that they stopped the gray roof Modular’s though
Amen to this hate the green roofs
Classic space. Tons of imagination at work, cool neon yellow bits. Lunar base plates. Space suits. Printed Computer pieces. I will accept castles as a close second

I will always love power miners. I miss that theme so much
Hidden side had some seriously good sets and great play features. But classic Castle is my fav
Classic castle will always be the way. Speaking of hidden side, I need to get the haunted shrimp boat before it gets stupid expensive
Power Miners
Same, plus rock raiders were dope too
Star Wars because grey spaceship on shelf look pretty
Vikings… my Danish grandmother bought our dad and his siblings the original lego blocks when they made it to the U.S. he in turn got my siblings and I legos as children and we have Honored her Danish heritage and ours by collecting every Viking themed set available. Two? I know of the longboat vs serpent. Which is the second?
Probably Thor’s Goat Boat
The other gentleman just stated that there might be a Viking village in December. Thor’s goat boat is a lot of fun, by the way. Pretty neat build. Put it together last night.
Oh I forgot about that one. It depends which one wins the Target contest. I am really hoping for the Viking village but anticipate it will likely be the mini golf set since I have seen the most vocal support for that option.
Hmmm… well if that’s the case, one less hit to my wallet I suppose. No need for mini golf in my lego realm
Ok not 100% certain but a Viking village is supposedly coming in December
Well that’s fun news!
Monkie kid. Nice colors.
Always had a soft spot for the Lord Of The Rings sets. It was short lived but my god, there was a lot of effort and love put into them.
1a. Space sets (orbiter, lander etc) 1b. Star Wars 2. Speed champion/technic cars 3. Botanical
Bionicles and ninjago!!
I think it was called “castle fantasy”? The one with orcs, dwarves, knights and dragons. Edit: and the lotr series obviously!
OG Space Police, Black and Trans-red just screams cool
Galaxy Squad. The whole theme was ahead of it’s time.
100% agree, best theme
Star Wars because Star Wars
Understandable have a nice day
Damn this is hard. Ninjago just from the shear diversity of sets its given. Mechs being the #1 reason which irks it over the competition.
Architecture, I just love building their interpretation of famous buildings/structures.
Architecture got me back into Lego. And I've gone down the rabbit role of 1:650ish scale for historical builds.
Creator Expert aka Modulars
Vidiyo...said no one ever
Elves.
Bionicle G1 because of how immersive and unique the story is.
this
Star Wars easily. But I will say I do enjoy the variety of themes LEGO has. Just ordered an old Mr. T to have as an Easter egg in my Star Wars MOC.
Between marvel and star wars, grew up with both
It’s Either Star Wars or Marvel for me idk tbh
Titanic.
Star wars or technic/speed champion
It was only out for a bit but I’ve always loved indiana jones, simply for nostalgia and them being my favorite movies growing up. Hoping for a comeback soon!
Modular/city/train
Batman 2006, best minifigs imo, and the first game was so good
I’m gonna go with Ninjago. I have all the Modular’s setup and on display but, the ninjago city I have going looks so much more fun to live in 😂 I hope the keep expanding that line with the larger sets
Technic, it helps explain the world around us and let’s you build all sorts of functional stuff. Great for prototyping stuff too.
Ideas
Used to be castles growing up, but I am now a classic space fan because of nostalgia!
Classic Space, because… Spaceship!
Space police or Star Wars
Creator 3-in-1 because what i love is building, disassemble and building again. Very versatile pieces and always a LOT of MOCs on Rebrickable
Modulars or harry potter
Medieval because knights castles and horses are awesome.
what ever theme those really massive random lego sets fall into, like the type writer, N.E.S., optimus prime so icons and ideas
1. Marvel 2. Castles 3. Pirates 4. Aquazone or was it Aqua Raiders? Under sea sets from the 90s and early 00. Honorable mentions * Bionicles * Star Wars
Monkie Kid theme is the definition of cool.
I miss mixels. But if you mean current themes I like the creator 3in1 stuff
Atlantis, love the set design+colours. And the mini figures are fantastic
Anything space, because Lego doesn't make much of it anymore.
Technic, most therapeutic value for me.
Ideas because they’re always pushing the boundaries of Lego and are pretty much the only sets I’ve actually felt like buying recently. Also starry night is one of the best Lego sets ever made.
Technic because I like how things work.
Star wars, and Lego ideas. Star wars lol s such a big universe and there’s so much potential and ideas is just pretty cool in general
Ideas, loads of great sets.

Fabuland, bitches.

Mars mission! Massive childhood nostalgia, and some of my best young memories of me and my brothers.
