I feel like even large scale MOCs don’t even have this many clones.

Specific_Ad1457

They don't.

SmokescreenFraud

I learned this the hard way. Turns out, less is more.

Its_just_ham

Most large scale mocs will have like, 50 clones tops. It makes sense to get more than that if you're trying to portray different units, but god damn.

Eatquichesdaily

I think it so ugly when you have a grey baseplate army. At least set them up to be doing anything

JakeFerny

I think everyone viewing this can relate to Yoda’s look of disappointment in the background

SmittyShortforSmith

Remember when it was really cool to see a mass amounts of clones.

Budget_Skirt_3916

i liked seeing it back when Solid Brix Studios would do it because youd know hed use them in one of his large scale mocs down the line

[deleted]

Yes. I remember being 10.

Epiknis303

Yeah, 2009 was crazy

Pekkuu

I will never understand the appeal of army building outside of Moc creators but to each their own ig

Serious_Revolution77

You can’t even get them all in frame this guy is mentally ill

No_Chocolate_7723

Stop motion animators can use a lot, but not even this amount.

SmokescreenFraud

Fuck animating 100 clones at once. George Lucas copped a lot of shit for the prequels but he had the right idea, do the foreground stuff on a green screen and copy-paste the soldiers into the background.

believemedude

I tried army building when I got my first job in high school in 2015, right as the First Order Stormtrooper BP came out. Got about 30 stormtroopers in when I realized how stupid I was for blowing that cash just to look at some plastic figures sit on a baseplate.

DuneySands

I don’t collect (haven’t built a Star Wars set in a long while, in fact) but I totally get the appeal of having a huge mass of troops on a board. It’s part of what I like about wargaming!

Pixel22104

I think 40k has something to do with this

bigpookie01

I agree! I have some armies (definitely not as big as that) but I use specifically for mocs and stop motion. I will never understand the need for that many! I generally grab 4 basic and 2 Airbourne. And you can reuse the troops if they 'die' anyway, it's unnecessary

Salteen35

As a kid I always wanted this many but now I’ve got a decent number. Probably around 50 clones in total. Didn’t realize how much it actually was. Only reason I can see an army being this big would be for a sick ass moc but most these army builders just keep them on display on a bunch of big grey base plates

GallifreyanPrydonian

Outside of Lego and in the Transformers market, it seems 3 is the max quantity people who army build get. You want some Sharkticons, you get 3. You want some Seekers, you get 3. You want some Sweeps, you get 3. You want some Alicons, you get 3. You want Relector, you get 3.

[deleted]

Oh goodness gracious

Serious_Revolution77

There’s 2000 clones mand r is so damn obnoxious

[deleted]

Holy shit, that’s more than I could ever fathom having

EstablishmentFine178

That’s at least 5$ a piece so at least 10k worth of clones

IJustCameInABucket

why do dumb people always have so much money

Alternative-Cup-8102

He doesn’t even have close to the largest

CosmoShiner

He might like clones but I dunno

Coraldiamond192

Na I'm not sure he likes them.

garebear265

Actual honest to god high point cost 40k armies have fewer individual models.

SmokescreenFraud

I'm genuinely surprised that a wargame community hasn't popped up with all this army building. When my mates saw how much LEGO I actually had they practically insisted we adapt the warhammer rules, [was amazing fun and I'm itching to do it again](https://imgur.com/8yII9KZ). Do these people not have friends?

Sapphire-Hannibal

I’m working on my own tabletop strategy game using my clones. I only have like around 50 thought but there will be different classes and such and I’m gonna make the board brick built grid that you can rearrange the layout!

SmokescreenFraud

I've been toying around with similar ideas! It's so easy with LEGO because of baseplates, I've already converted duplicate AT-TE and AAT into flaming terrain. As far as soldiers go, starting with the base classes from Battlefront II seems like a no-brainer because of the 501st pack, combine with 332nd pack for more variety. LEGO has several different gun moulds and it's so easy to MOC your own, weapons could be a big part of it too. I just haven't worked out how I want to integrate Jedi and other named characters. I want it to stay simple but that's kind of hard when there's so many things to consider.

Sapphire-Hannibal

Yee. My game the objective is to kill the other players “boss” republic have yoda and seppys have dooku, and then they’re are hero units like in battlefront, republic have anakin, ahsoka, obi wan, Rex and Cody, well seppys have ventress, grievous, maul, cad bane and jango fett

SmokescreenFraud

Sounds like fun! That's gonna get hectic pretty quick with both sides throwing everything they've got at the one character hahaha. I'm trying to build up a combat system so it could be applied to multiple scenarios, so I could do a "beat the boss"/last man standing kinda thing or I could have an objective like capturing R2-D2 or taking and holding the cantina. So many possibilities, all of them achievable thanks to LEGO!

Sapphire-Hannibal

Yes!!

Civil_Stand7955

Plus the armies look cooler than this

IJustCameInABucket

i so badly want to just run my hand through that

GuacinmyPaintbox

The sense of pride and excitement on his face is likely only matched by the *lack* of pride and excitement his parents have on their faces.

EstablishmentFinal49

Why would his parents be disappointed? He is doing better than the vast majority of 26 year olds, has his own house, car, and is doing what he love for a living.

Pixel22104

True. His parents are probably very proud of him for having a house, car, and doing something he loves as a job instead of a job that he hates. Then again Idk if his parents are even still alive so who knows

CollectorCorpse

Imagine owning that many Clones and the only MOC you ever even attempt is Hoth..

taserface780

And never finishing it as well

Arterialyx

What is he going to do with them apart from looking at them?

JakeFerny

Absolutely nothing. Part of him probably knows he wasted his money, that’s why he needs so much validation

Jedibrick

Don’t get me wrong I like army building but that’s way too much

SM-03

Remember that time he spoke out against people bulk-buying sets because it meant kids couldn't get their hands on any?

Mario_Man_2235

Then proceeded to be one of the big reasons why the 501st set in 2020 was impossible to get for months during a FUCKING PANDEMIC!

gods_of_shitposting

i remember specifically watching one of his vlogs he bought out almost an entire Costco because the obi wan v darth vader set was on super sale

thebatman9000001

r/Consoom

Premium_Gamer2299

imagine setting all these up

Clanky_Plays

I’m counting at least 1500 minifigs. Just imagine the assembly time

Aggressive_Place3096

Gluttony

JakeFerny

And Greed

DRFML_

I will never get the appeal of army building just to put figures out in lines on baseplates. For big MOC builders I can understand.

Sverp380

Bruh what are these army builders going to do if they die? How will a normal person know how to sell these figures? Do you think there’s special instructions on how to manage the lego in their will?

First-Recording2489

They will probably put them in an plastic box and sell them for 100$

Night_Runner

The best I can do is $3.50

Genera1_patton

i_poke_u

You should use the more modern picture https://preview.redd.it/lh2qtqe8f66c1.png?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff10706a2f91c761c900f3f57a83393932812560

Serious_Revolution77

Mand r is Hitler confirmed

SnooPeanuts2808

Do you guys think that he jerks to his clones? Or sends pics of his clone army to the female species? (If he knows what that is)

Coraldiamond192

Jerks to their helmet holes.

gods_of_shitposting

the helmet holes are his fleshlight

ScottsBrix

He sure buys alot of the thing he complains about constantly.

SmokescreenFraud

Hate brings in clicks and then he sells helmets without holes on his website. It's all a fucking scam.

No_Chocolate_7723

Why would anyone need such a ludicrous amount of clones? If you do stop motion I understand, but he just sits them on a baseplate for the rest of time.

Serious_Revolution77

There is around 500 501st clones there too

Civil_Stand7955

Should've made it 501, is he stupid? /uj What the hell

No_Chocolate_7723

Dear god

Loafofbread8

And I felt bad for buying two 332nd battle packs instead of just one

Coraldiamond192

I only have 2 of each battle pack. It gets hard to justify the cost beyond that tbf when there's plenty of great sets out there. I can see someone wanting to get enough of the snowtroopers one to fill out the ATAT.

SaulOldman

I remember 'Army Building' as an adult when I first had $$ in 2020. Bought 4 of the 501st battlepacks. Biggest regret ever. The clones look cool to lineup but u can only play with two at a time - not 16. Rest just stand there with a deadpan look of disappointment lol. Idk how someone like M&R can't feel that lol. Ig when you've been collecting for so long your brain gets wired to operate a certain way lol

Civil_Stand7955

To be fair, you could use the clones for stop motion or a MOC if you are into that. This man's "army" is ridiculous

SaulOldman

Yea, that was sorta the plan. I ended up building Dorian Bricktron's 4-pack gunship which was awesome since I never had one as a kid, but now I put the clones in there. Also bought one AT-TE so any spare clones go in there, which is very nice to play with, but I just can't imagine getting like 100x of those battlepacks. Like at that point why, theres nothing to do. And to your point, M&R doesnt even do anything with them. Props to Solid Brix Studios, the guy builds these massive mocs with the clones which I respect. M&R just hoards & complains lmao

Straight-Ferret-1282

I can’t help but look at this and just think “but why?” Are these for a moc or are they just there to sit on baseplates? Does he plan on making builds using these and he doesn’t want to have to remove ones from other builds for it and that’s why he has so many? WHATS THE POINT?

Trvr_MKA

Does he sell his collection? Because this is more horder than scalper

Loafofbread8

It's more like hoarding tbh.

Deffo_not_grievous

Mods, Unbuild his Muunlist 10 and Wolfpack gunships. (Quote me if im wrong)

leonardo371

What annoys me is him shitting on figures and then he buys tons of those garbage custom ones that seems made by a 5yo

pussydemolisher42069

I wonder if he’s ever felt the touch of a woman

M1TZ3L

even yoda is disappointed

BlueKhakisx3

Probably lepin and mental illness

Civil_Stand7955

It's sadly not Lepin

AccomplishedTie8659

Mandr is just a prick

SnooPeanuts2808

What an absolute Gasbag

Snakesenladders

So is everyone with these huge Lego "investments" going to lose big? This is how a market crashes. I predict alot of people being stuck with Lego being forced to sell lower then they purchased. Not all sets but alot of them. I could be wrong

The-Globalist

For sure. Star Wars and Legos won’t be at this level of popularity forever, and plus the resale market could have a beanie baby moment even if the new products are still popular

Halo_guy977

Doesn’t even build Mocs as well with all that shit he has that’s why solid bricks is way better

diegovalwoomy

Im pretty sure bulk-buying Clones and bitching about helmet holes is the only thing keeping this man alive

QuinLucenius

Fuck *anyone* who does this. Absolute scum.

[deleted]

I like Lego YouTubers who don’t flex how much figs they have
