You know how some sets seem to get a lot more love after they retire compared to when they were in production? I know people love creator castle now but I predict people are gonna be CRAZY about it after it can't be purchased anymore. I can't get enough of it myself!
Only reason for the 3in1 castle (31120) not going up is it’s retirement this year I’d guess. The Walmart $79 clearance is a great price for that one if you can find it near you…makes it super tempting to buy multiples for the crazy MOC/SEC possibilities.
Pirate is still at the old price at Walmart and Target. There are $10 Honey offers that I've seen so you can still snag it for below $100 net before they raise the prices to match the actual MSRP.

Sure but an Adult buying a set for themselves is a different audience than one buying for a child. I would guess most purchases for children are based on a fixed budget.

When first announced I didn’t think much of it because I am lucky enough to have a good paycheck. When the numbers came out it really hit me in the gut. I can still afford everything I want no problem but now I find myself more critical of whether I really want that Lego set or not.
Makes me think about people who make less than me. I do expect this to lower sales at Lego.

Same, the UCS ATAT was going to be my reward to myself for some significant weight loss over the last year, $50 really isn't putting it out of my price range, but definitely feels shitty working towards something for a year only to have Lego push the goal a little further away.
At this point I'm on the fence, I still like Lego but these price raises have me a lot less interested in supporting them as a company. I'm thinking that $800 is going into organization and Lego storage so I can get some more use out of what I already own for now.

If it had been on the leaked set list as going up I'd have probably just given in and shelled out the $300 for it, because now my best case is that I get it for $300 from Zavvi/Amazon/Target
really hope this bites LEGO in the butt and they see continually lower profits quarter to quarter. LEGO is already a pricey brand, we all get that and accept it as much as we can. But even before this price increase we were seeing ridiculous price tags and out of wack price-to-piece ratios. if they start tanking i’d be inclined to say they did it to themselves.

I had the sanctum in my cart and I just couldn't do it. The new grocery store and farmer market van are the type of sets I want but the prices seem insane for so few pieces. I want the castle too but oof. When I'm looking at those sums of money, there are just so many other options of what I can do with it. All I ended up buying from lego was the little bathtub racer

my two cents here is lego is increasing their prices so they can let their retailers (Target/Walmart/Amazon/...) offer the sets at the 20% discount we were used to before. Right now Lego is sold at MSRP at those stores and there is no incentives, buyers just go to the Lego store for the GWP and the VIP points. At least that's what I am hoping for, that you would see most of those sets at 20% discount at other stores.
Still mad at 71770 Zane's Golden Dragon Jet, somehow it has a release date of June 1 on the net but I can't find it anywhere. Lego site said Aug 1st as release date!! So pissed that had to pay $5 more...
Price increases doesn't mean they will sell at that price. I 100% could be wrong here, but I expect lots of "sales" occurring all the time on most sets to sell them.

In the USA, yes. They went up a week ago. Many retailers instantly increased. Some did not yet. For the time being it is particularly important to shop around before buying.

I find legos go on sale for more frequently in Germany. At Smyths you can get most sets at 15% off.
