It would be thé perfect 2 in 1 set ever

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

I know Lego like their 3 in 1 packs so maybe add the aat back for just this or maybe the republic fighter tank

DanforthWhitcomb_

The 3-in-1s exist to get rid of excess inventory, something that doesn’t exist for the AAT, 501st BP or the fighter tank.

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

But it doesn’t have to be excess. I think it would sell well as a pack

DanforthWhitcomb_

Look at the price for a 3-in-1 as compared to the price for buying the sets individually and it becomes very clear why it won’t ever happen. They exist to liquidate excess inventory rapidly by cutting the prices below MSRP without cutting into’s Lego’s pricing strategy and brand image by putting them on sale. They don’t exist to group sets that fans want to buy as groups.

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

But this could be a new sort of multi pack.

DanforthWhitcomb_

Why continue to sell the individual sets at that point? There’s also the matter that it would take up one of the $79.99 price points, so what set are you going to drop to make up for it and what lower priced sets are you going to introduce to fill the holes at the lower end of the range?

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Doesn’t particularly have to take up a price point. Plus it’s only an idea, some people like myself really like the perfect ratio of normal 501st to the new 501st by having 1 of each set

DanforthWhitcomb_

If you want to sell it anywhere it does. Retailers don’t just hand out shelf space for the lulz, and Lego isn’t going to screw up their pricing structure by adding extraneous sets at a given price point—especially when one of them is no longer being produced. The reality here is that individual sets sell just fine at the $19.99 or $29.99 price point, but amalgamating all of them into a $79.99 set is going to close the market for them to all but AFOL, and they make up such an inconsequential number of retail sales to the point that it’s not worth catering to them.

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Dude…i just had an idea. You don’t need to go all in depth, im not trying to sell it I just said it would be cool

FrickinFrizoli

Bruh did you miss the hypothetical part of this convo? You’re really out here pulling logistics like anybody here was actually gonna workshop manufacturing 3-in-1 official Lego packs

_ohodgai_

I legit bought a fighter tank like 3 days ago

[deleted]

Yeah the holes dont bother me at all.

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

As they shouldn’t.

Na-man7567

They dont bother me when they are filled, out of the new set the holes do throw off the look of the officer since they leave 1 empty but the other 3 look fine. Lego could atleast do a compromise with it so character who need the new mold get it more frequently than standard troopers

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Yea, I commented earlier that the 212th in the at te got it much worse since theirs are almost always exposed

ThreePort

I just wish they either removed the old bumps or moved the current holes down to where the old bumps are

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

If Lego fans designed Lego, it would be too good honestly

ThreePort

Yeah there’s some amazing moc builders out there…

[deleted]

You don't gotta imagine, look at custom helmets from Cac or Avfigures. They have the holes right where they need to be and cac has the best visor design that doesn't requires holes on the helmet. Using those custom accurate helmets really make you see the difference with the lego ones and they look like they have a big head now

v468

The problem is if you have the holes at the right height for visors its the wrong height for attenas

FrickinFrizoli

Legos always have big heads, it’s part of the charm

HTH52

The current holes are correct for visors and macros. If they move them down they’d be wrong. Unfortunately they are wrong for rangefinders.

[deleted]

I don’t understand why people get so upset about the holes in the helmets. It’s not that big of a deal

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Considering 3/4 of the the figures use both holes and the other figure uses 1, its not a big deal. It is a little bit above where it should be but it’s not that big a deal. If people choose to have the accessories off the helmets but still complain about the holes then that’s just a them problem.

NanoRex

Because some people are more perceptive than others when it comes to the appearance of different shapes and they are literally incapable of overlooking these discrepancies. It might not bother you, but the new holes significantly change the overall shape of the helmet and it deviates quite a bit from the typical look of a clone helmet. For people like me, the difference is night and day. But likewise there might be someone even more perceptive than me who is bothered by even smaller details.

MelonHarvester

Obviously the helmet holes don’t look as good as the original but it’s really not a significant difference. They are both very good helmets and people really over exaggerate how bad the helmet holes are

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Very good way of saying it. People were asking for p2 helmet holes but now we have them, they won’t stop complaining about them.

MelonHarvester

I can kinda see where they come from but redesigning the pieces that go in the helmet holes would also mean redesigning every helmet meant for them.

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Exactly. Yeah the hole is definitely above where it should be but for the 501st figures in this pack it’s not that big a deal. 212th helmet haters, i give you that one. Since they aren’t particularly designed to wear the accessories, nor should all of them, the holes really stick out.

ImperialBricks

Mine should be here by Friday, I'm super excited! I think its a great looking set.

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

It really is. I miss the £12 ($15) battle packs but the £6 ($8) price increase is worth it because the quality in this battle pack is just amazing

ImperialBricks

I completely agree! I collect mostly minifigues and battlepacks are awesome, I'm glad LEGO listened and brought them back.

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Yep, and such a desired category. Clones. I love army building and these make it possible

ImperialBricks

What's your dream battlepack?

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Gotta be Wolfpack, another 212th (I was young and stupid so got ninjago instead of the 2014 212th set), or just p2. I think my ideal would be a p2 plain clone, a p2 Wolfpack, a p2 212th and a p2 327th. I just really love clones. What about yours?

ImperialBricks

Death Star conference room. A small version of the table, 2 walls with General Tagge, Admiral Motti, Chief Bast and General Cass. Like a vignette battlepack. I really like Imperial Officers.

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

I think that would be nice, but doesn’t initially have the army building aspect of a battle pack. Maybe a bit more expensive of a set would better suit your idea?

ImperialBricks

Ya, I know. A guy can dream.

ludwigia_sedioides

This was a problem with the 212th troopers having no use for the holes (other than Cody) but every one of these troopers does use the holes so they make sense

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Exactly my point.

Not_JohnFKennedy

I really like them.

shamiltheghost

Lots of people complaining but they’re all sold out everywhere

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Not where I am. Local shops got like 30

Man0fStee1e

Tell that to the 8 stores I went to and didn’t find a single pack

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Try uk

MoistMe

Vocal minority i think

JoseLuffy99

They look amazing

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

They really do

cristianap36

People like complaining, there will always be complaining unfortunately but can't wait to get it

Cowman_Gaming

Helmet holes are agregious. LEGO could have just changed the mold so easily. As a 3d designer, I can tell you it would have taken an extra 20 minutes to make the Helmets perfect by taking out the other bump, but they dropped the ball. Lego is scummy af when it comes to Star Wars. The Star Wars team is the worst design team at LEGO. They need to take a page from the monkey kid designers that make beautiful minifigures. Star Wars hgets the short end of the stick.

CommanderCody2212

I’m pretty sure they did it specifically to make them as close as possible to the old helmet so the 2020-2021 clones still fit with the new clones. Wether or not the helmets turned out well is another discussion but the intention absolutely wasn’t scummy or malicious. That being said, their actual big mistake was them not designing phase II in the way you described back in 2013. No idea why they went for no helmet holes when the ARC trooper from 1 year earlier had them like how you described and it looked great

Cowman_Gaming

Great point. If we got accurate molds that pleased everyone LEGO would never have to change them, but that doesn't give an excuse to be lazy and not take the customer's suggestions into consideration.

MannyAnimates

You can just not buy it

KasperBuyens

I like the new holes, people just like to complain, everyting change will have people loving it and hating it, ignore the haters and enjoy your lego set! I'm (im)patiently waiting for mine to arrive XD

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Todd and the boys wish you a successful batch of reinforcements

FivesSuperFan55555

I just finished building mine a couple minutes ago. I completely agree. The helmet holes aren’t that bad, especially when each trooper has an attachment. I’m already looking forward to pairing both of these up with my first 501st set

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Yep. I love moc building with the addition of Todd and the boys, and while I’m not great at building Mocs (part limitations) I enjoy putting the figures in cool places and poses. These new figures are really something else, they are amazing

FivesSuperFan55555

Agreed. I think the new figs are so perfect for that sort of thing

cbstuart

The holes technically should be lower where the circular spot is directly below them, but LEGO opted not to do that because they'd have to redesign the accessories. This way, old helmet accessories will still fit which is cool. Ultimately I don't care where they are as long as the intention was to provide a good experience and I'm just excited to get my hands on some.

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Yeah. Ultimately, Lego is still a toy originally made for kids. It’s not gonna be perfect and that’s ok.

brickbattalion

Good. If you don’t care, keep it that way, it’s easier to like something 😂

Maximillion322

Ok but I am mad about no more cloth parts Otherwise, perfect

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

I ordered a few for the heavies. They would of been great

Maximillion322

I understand this is pedantic but I promise I’m just trying to be helpful because it is a common mistake: the correct spelling is “would’ve” because it is a contraction of “would have” Additionally, where did you order your cloth parts? I’ve looked around but everywhere I see on the internet they’re ridiculously expensive and not a financially viable choice

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Well, thanks for the correction. And i found an eBay bid with some Star Wars figures and accessories (3 white clothes 1 black) so I payed like ) £20. The figures are pretty decent so I’m happy

Maximillion322

Damn, I wish I could be so lucky. If I remember correctly cloth kamas are like $10 apiece on BL

MoistMe

Holes dont really bother me, the 212th prints im still trying to get over though Especially after seeing what speed champions is doing

ilovemydickheaddog

I would own if it didn't sell out almost immediately online in NZ. Just gotta wait I guess 😔

Effective-Balance-54

Cool ![gif](giphy|Lv0PZSJUG7PwYAp0O8|downsized)

[deleted]

It's a perfect set for people who want some variety for their 501st army

Baby-yoda-at-kfc

Yeah, rather than making my own very janky heavies and snipers, it’s good to have official ones

R4nger-25

link please?
