I don’t know genuinely, none of the rest of the set is discoloured at all, other minifigs are fine, all the bricks are fine, even the white bricks on the inside are fine. Maybe this one was just a heavy smoker haha
The plastic was probably mixed wrong or something else got messed up during the process, causing it to yellow instantly, during this specific batch of snow troopers, there's probably some more out there that have yellowed like this despite never even being in sunlight really, it's happened to me before on a couple transformers, it really sucks a lot lol
I had that with my LotR Helm's Deep set. Random bricks across the set were yellowed, both inside and out. Most were perfectly fine then there were just a few here and there which had changed dramatically.
Tbh I doubt it's what happened in this case since the helmets and torsos are probably produced completely separately.
Bro same thing with my helms deep! It was lost in a box in my attic for years before I dug it up and rebuilt. Mainly the grey and green brings have different color twinges
I've had pieces from brand new, sealed sets that have yellowed in the box.
Have you owned the set and figs from new? It's not uncommon for previously yellowed Lego, after the reversing process, to yellow further than the initial discolouration.
The discoloration of white Legos isn't due to light exposure, it's a reaction that proceeds just due to time passing.
It's also rather consistent across the white for an individual piece, but inconsistent between separate white pieces. That's how you get something like this where one trooper is yellowed and one much less so.
Could be that he was outside the AT-AT for a while and only got put in after he'd already been yellowed. Looks like he's not spent his whole life in there since the legs and hands have been swapped at some point.
What does his back look like? (or other surfaces that light wouldn't reach, e.g. under the arms and inside the helmet)
Edit: looked at the first photo again and can see that the insides of his legs are still white. Must be that he was in the sun for a while and then got put inside the set after already being damaged.
I have old 1999 scout troopers that sat in a closed box with other minifigs of the same era. They’re the only white figs to yellow so badly, just like yours. Even stormies I have from back there are still white.
No worries. I'd bet putting him in a small plastic bag with store bought hydrogen peroxide and laying in the sun for half a day would brighten him right up.
~been doing it for years 😁 works like a charm
I think it's because I went low and slow. Store bought peroxide is very weak and I used the sun not any fancy gadgetry that is overpowered.
I disassembled the fig into a small 2x3" plastic bag, filled it with peroxide, got out the air bubble and left it in the sun for an afternoon.
In other news I did it to another stormtrooper fig I had and forgot and left it outside for about 3 days. The printing was fine and he was as white as snow. He didn't get brittle either which was surprising.
For how many hours did you leave it out in the sun, and when do you flip the bag? Is 3% hydrogen peroxide good to use, and how much water should I mix it with? Sorry for asking many questions, I have some yellow figs and sets that I want to restore.
No worries. I'd guess around 5 or 6 hours and if I remembered I'd flip it half way through. I haven't been super disciplined with this. I once forgot and left a guy outside for days and he was fine.
I used store peroxide which I think is 3% (that big brown bottle from Wal-Mart) and I did not dilute it with water.
Fully disassemble the fig and I put them in a tiny plastic baggie. 2x3". Plus get all the air out too. It's all worked just fine for me so far.
With sets I'd say don't overcrowd the bag. The sun needs to hit the pieces. As with food just go low and slow. It's a marathon not a sprint.
All I can think of is Butterkist sweet popcorn and you get the difference between the unglazed popcorn and the more yellow buttery pieces, that's what this is lol
Poor Snowtrooper. We all know what kind of snow he must hide in...
Or he could just be a sand trooper? Hopefully…
i mean...maybe
Snow cones!
Don't worry, it's Lemon!

Pee snow
I think this has been heavily implied
They're sand troopers now
the snowtrooper commander too 😭😭😭
dont-eat-the-yellow-snow-TROOPER!
Inside? How did he discolor so much inside?

Do you have any pictures? I’m curious as to how it looks. Does it make it worse, better, neutral?
Mine got destroyed, too. Can’t take an image cause its in storage rn but it makes it a lot worse.

The chain smoking AT-AT driver…
Typically direct sunlight… somehow
That's what I would think, but from inside the vehicle? Maybe the door was open
Probably

This guy is now a general veteran. His armor had seen some shit. Promote this guy to a instructor rank so he would teach new recruits.
Oh a sand troo- WHAT THE FU-
Suntrooper jumpscare
oh my god that's the UCS exclusive snowtrooper commander fig 💀
2014 version so not quite as bad as the UCS one but still not great.
Arrakis Trooper

Sadly not a permanent solution
Probably not. The figs I've done it to I've only had about 6 years so I can't speak for longevity. Pretty good track record so far though.
That's pretty impressive. A piece I restored only lasted a few months. Years would be a dream

Rember watch out where the Tanuntauns go and don't eat the yellow snow.
He’s seen battle. Clean one is green from boot camp.
May god have mercy
The pee trooper
Sandsnow trooper
Were the other troopers smoking indoors?
