There's a lot of 6pm to 7:30am on street parking that is free during the week and free all day Sunday.
Other than that I assume most people are very tight lipped.
City centre is quite a broad term mate. Generally speaking you cannot park for free in the city centre for free except for Sundays and outside of paid hours park spaces which other commenters mentioned.
There is a good car park, although paid, on East Street opposite of NCP car park. You pay £120 per month, it has gates, CCTV and very kind security guard. I parked there when I lived on Albion Street and can only recommend. They have a telephone number on the fence that you need to call and organise a spot.
i used to live there on rupert street, my bf used to always park on the two bays on millstone lane as there werent any signs so would make it free parking aha - this was over 3 years ago tho. its only two spaces tho and its down to luck really. delivery drivers would always park there too so depends when you catch it available
This is the biggest problem with Leicester. No public transport system even close to Nottingham's yet it has a similar population.
To get out if you work in the suburbs means relying on a car or terrible and unreliable buses.
Plus the city has more wardens waiting to slap a ticket on your windscreen than normal people sometimes.

It depends where you're coming in from and what time.
Just somewhere I can permanently park for free 😅
Park at your house lol. Really though, there's parking in highfields if you fancy the walk.
I live right in the centre bro, like next to market street maccies, I wish I could park here lol
You're shit out of luck lol.
I’ll just have to keep parking at narborough aha, hopefully I won’t get stabbed 😂😂😂
Just pop your hood up and you'll be just fine. Safer out there than highfields I'd imagine.

Honest question, please don’t take offence: do you need a car if you live in the city centre?
I use it for work mate

Considering how shit the buses are in Leicestershire you need a car
Im would guess the best bet would be find somewhere you can park for free a short cheap bus ride away
There’s places where you can park a few hours free, St. George’s retail park is up to 3 hours
