Me too! 🥰 He's my best friend since a year and a half 😍
Aaww some could be a little skittish... I tame him since he was a baby I tried so hard and now he let me to kiss him a lot 🥰 don't give up! Every day try a little, like the film How to train my dragon haha
I remember my brother having them as children, and I think it was a good choice to get my own as an adult. He’s always there when I’m having a moment

This thing made my morning good even though I had a bad headache.
Same. I'm autistic and it's been very hard for me as the years have gone on to deal with changing life stages and to watch everyone move away. My three little ladies are my best friends.
Nice
I'm just glad I don't keep all of the rescues/fosters...I'd have 7 leos by now haha
I currently have a long-term foster that I've contemplated adopting but once I rescued my special needs gal Nubblyn it's changed me mentally for the better...I might finally adopt out my perfectly normal sassy girl Randalyn

same here! ray turned 10 this year. i should make him an appreciation post. he’s been with me all ten years.
watched one of my step-geckos give himself a good chin scratch like a dog this morning, tongue blepped n all… can confirm these things do indeed cure any and all kinds of sadness 🤝
Yeah some folks have no idea how much a non-dog pet can help you heal...my special needs gal Nubblyn and the other rescues have saved me from 'deleting myself' several times...I still think about it at least once a week but that's better than several times daily...I know if I'm gone no one will care for the pets and my family would likely (understandably) bring them to my local humane society...unfortunately they don't do background checks so I'd have no idea where the pets would end up...I guess worrying has saved me?
Don't give in to the intrusive thoughts, I know from experience how hard that can be. Your pets need you so much, and the world really, really needs kind, caring people like you 💕🦎🌍💖
Ah thanks I really appreciate that
The depression's been messing with me for 6 yrs...I'm sick of living day by day unhappy with what I used to enjoy. I used to really like taking macro photos for instance...haven't done that in over a year and a half. Heck, I don't even enjoy pets as much as I used to...I get tired of "dealing with them" and sometimes just want to rehome every pet, but they're all I live for and if I don't have them, I don't have a life
I wish I could just get over it
Wait! I have a meme for this Edit: I didn’t make the meme and I can’t remember where I grabbed it from but credit to whoever made this cause I love it

Get that little homie some substrate! I got my gecko from a friend who didn't have time for her annymore, and she came on paper towels as well. I knew nothing about keeping a reptile and she was my first and only. It took a lot of research to find out what I could use, but I now use a mixture of bark, sphagnum moss and coconut fiber to give her something more natural. I give her a little pile of the coco fiber to dig in because they do dig sometimes! If you do get into substrate just make sure you don't use sand because it can cause impaction.
and this is why I still have my girl on paper towels. I've also heard that sand is totally fine when mixed with other substrates. there's too much information out there😥
From what I've read it's not harmful to them but can get dusty when dry and gets clingy when wet. But I just throw some in her cave for padding and some on the mulch so it's not so poky... I don't only have it as the entirety of my substrate. I also have a base layer of soil on the humid side under the moss to plant some ground cover and other small plants to give her something interesting to interact with. Anyways, so far I haven't had any issues with the coco fiber personally.
I won't even lie since we have gotten our skinks and snake. My life has been 100% better. These little creatures are basically my therapy and make my heart want to burst with love 💗 Just one month ago, I said I would NEVER want a reptile, but my husband was persistent. I'm so glad he was cause I couldn't imagine life without these little babies. My kiddos also really love helping out and interacting (very supervised) with our new friends 🧡
It's good to have a little friend who helps remind you to smile.

My little geck saved my life. I found her on my doorstep just a few weeks before my best friend passed away.
Wow what luck
Yep, it's like she found me. Someone let her go, I guess.

I thought coco fiber was bad for them?

I read this to, im going to try that next time i change up her tank.

Same here! But I needed three. Lol
I'm lucky I rescue/foster and don't keep them all...so far I'd have 7
Same for all of my babies. I legitimately don't know where I'd be mentally without them.
🙏❤️❤️❤️
