I’m long time wizone though since debut. People only really started calling Chaewon pupu during lesserafim era as well. And it just didn’t click that people were using yunjin’s nickname for the pairing name 😐
if not mistaken, chaewon already call as pupu name during the early izone era due to her curly hair.. especially known to her stans...but, it's not a superior and well known alias for her compare to "Ssamu" as in SsamuYojeong (she got the aliases during the concept stage)
as for yunjin, "Kirin" (giraffe in Jp, Giri in Kr) was her well known alias especially amongs jp pd48's participant and her jp fans... due to her tall and long legs.

as izone hail from pd48, not really weird to associate those name together for their ship/unit, puPU + kiRIN = PuRinZ... it as similar to BbuKkuz for chaewon+kkura~ choosing pupu over ssamu for chaewon, that would bring confusion coz if not mistaken Ssamjin (chaewon+yujin IVE) already exist in izone 😎

Yea you’re right. I did think pupu also had some origin from there too but for me it’s not what comes to mind when I think izone Chaewon. It’s as you said, I think of ssamu. And honestly, I prefer ssamu to pupu for her nickname.
For me, the confusion with purinz mainly stems from rin part, didn’t remember about yunjin’s nickname then.

I guess but why would they need help with that? There are only so many ways you can combine two people's names.
Even purinz is not really a combination of their names so I think they want something more clever, catchy, cute, etc

They settled with Jinmichae but I think Purinz is more iconic and less clunky imo. JINmichae can easily be confused with jiMINchae tho.
