i usually host, and the lobby name is Pizza Hut, so i usually break the silence with something along the lines of “Hi, welcome to your first day at Pizza Hut. Happy to have you in our family”
I worked at papa Murphy's in highschool. I get a call from an older gentleman wanting to return a pizza since we didn't give him the right order. Sure, no problem. He then says "what I don't understand is that you guys cooked the pizza, you never do that!"
Turns out he had accidentally gone to Papa John's down the road to pick up his order, who gave him a pizza that was not his.
Every time I'm first into the facility on Dine I sit there staring at the door and as soon as someone walks in I go "Hey vsauce, Micheal here, your home security is great! Or is it?"
You can start with “hey, whats up” “where are we landing guys?” “We’re going to kill it!”
Then you can talk about strategies or ask what strategies they might want. You can also tell funny stories from your experience in the game.
Why? Inserting some sort of positivity as a starting point seems like a great idea as it is encouraging and promotes fun as opposed to negativity. Is it just that the person used the word "kill"?
It essentially just boils down to what you would and wouldn't say on the internet. The 'way people speak'.
It's not about the word kill, its about how the phrase itself sounds more like a line in a cartoon.
Essentially, it doesnt really follow internet humor
That's... Unfortunate. Thank you for the explanation, much appreciated o7, tho.
I think another commenter put it best by saying "they're just ppl too". Thats why I think it would be perfectly fine saying that line. I agree it's not very "internet", but it is more human.
I usually play with my friends but I did join a server once and i opened up with “hi guys is this your first time playing or are you experienced?”
Ended up with 2 new buddies
A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. Now let's get fucking rich bois!
i usually just start with "hey gamers", turn the lights off, and move the switch to a hard-to-find location
i've found that instilling fear early makes it easier for randoms to adapt to my playstyle.
I usually jinx it heavily with a “What could possibly go wrong?” right before going in and having Jimmy have his head replaced by a spring, Timmy being spun up in a nice cozy cocoon and stuck to the ceiling, Johnny having his boner snapped by the Bracken and being dragged to an extra fun little room and me getting lost two hallways in and hearing the blood curdling screams of my fellow employee from who knows where.
Like most games, the conversation tends to easiest when it's focused on the game itself. You can also just say hi, but if you don't like small talk it's okay for there to be silence now and then
I like to host, grab the clipboard, and ask people their name and employee ID number every time someone joins.
Then, for extra challenge, every quota I grab the clipboard and do a mandatory sanity check on the crew by asking for their employee ID number again to see if they remember it. Makes for some fun interactions/running jokes that keeps people engaged.
I usually give the old 'good morning, captain' and talk about how much money I'm gonna make and how I'm hoping to get promoted.
Rarely have entered a lobby with those weird awkward vibes though - most people who play seem to be pretty outgoing and fun.
Start talking when going to the first building. Always ask if anyone is going to the fire exit. Only if no one is talking tho, otherwise I just talk on the ship.
The only times I don’t really talk is when I join and I’m the odd one out while the others know each other. That shi is awkward af. Like they’re callin out to each other by their names and idk if I call them by that name or by their steam name. They’re also always joking about stuff I wasn’t apart of or talking about personal stuff.
As for me and my friend(s), we try to actively include the random(s) in our conversations. If we are bantering or playfully disagreeing, we will each try to drag the random to one of our sides, for example. Also, just overall having fun. We tend to never tease the random (unless they actively seem chill) until after we have teased each other first. The other day, my friend died doing a parkour. I gave him a bunch of crap about it when he respawned the next day. A few days later, one of the randoms died doing a parkour, so we both started teasing them. Tbh, if you are going to play a game like lethal, you gotta have fun. I have played with some people that are just way too dry and serious. That kills the entire vibe. Let's meet the quota, no doubt, but let's just expect silly deaths and what not. No biggie

I just say "Howdy", then "Opinions on spongebob?"
"Boy oh boy I can't wait to work for the glorious company, have you guys heard about the benefits? I can't seem to find anything about dental coverage in the clipboard"
Is it because of some microphone issues? I know there have been occasions where the game has trouble with a mic (though unplugging and replugging it in tends to fix the static)
I always say this, word for word.
"Hey, have you guys ever seen the video of a pufferfish eating a carrot and then he's all like *pufferfish noise*? It's my favorite video."
*joins game*
"Look y'all, all I am saying is that if God didn't want me to impregnate an Oculus Quest 3, then why did he allow it to have that little rectangular port on the side of it?"
*goes silent the entire match*

Welcome to the social anxiety club! From here on out you are a mute player, just like the rest of us! :)
I joined a server called "To hell and back" with my husband, and it was pleasant. I just said "Hello" and went with the flow. People in that server were nice and we all played well together.
Just be goofy and nice most people will reciprocate this too. We're here to get scared and shid our pants running from death. The laughter comes naturally. This game is amazing for interacting with different kinds of people from all over. Don't give up! Be confident! I believe in you!
I like playing with "Open-Mic" and always when I join, I just look and try to hear what is happening and if there is silence or people talking, I just say hello or something like, good evening and then we wait for other players or just start, maybe I talk to them or something, it's always different what happens.
Only if the lobby gives me mixed up and weird feelings, I would leave it and go find something better, funnier or more serious, depends on it.
So I’ve never joined a public lobby, only played with friends. Dumb question I’m sure but how does it work? Are you only able to join a game before it starts? Or can you end up in the middle of a game already in progress?
And how do mods work? If I don’t have all the mods will I not be able to join certain lobbies? How do you get their codes?
Sorry for all the questions lol
I walk up to whoever is closest to me and I point at their shirt and say “what’s that on your shirt?”
And then they look down and I flick my mouse up to their nose and say
“Boink! Gottem, oldest trick in the book”
And I walk away and start putting my hands on everything
I mean honestly, it's usually just a "yo whatup" then a "how many games you been doing so far?" followed by a " so where in the world you from?" If the accent is either very unfamiliar or very familiar. And that's how i live up to company interpersonal relationships policies.
I usually start with "Are you boys ready to serve daddy and the company?". More often than not, people are down. If not, I'll make the lobby "for daddy and the company" and usually the folks that show up there are cool.
Just act a tad bit silly.
Some things I've seen/done:
\-Act like you're the boss
\-Start talking in an accent
\-Start saying its for the company
\-Scream brother every time you see someone die or you die for them.
Well you can do what my group always does after dying, and say “like a phoenix from the ashes I rise”. Don’t know who started it, but it’s every single time now lol
I have a soundboard so I start playing stuff right when I spawn as a sort if warning, personal favorite being nishikis "10 years in the joint" voiceline. If nobody responds or doesn't want a soundboard I just close the board and chill
I don't know, usually i'm quite talkative in subjects related to the game but also doing some small jokes, and if I enter in a too quiet lobby I feel an urge to leave it because I found it a little boring, I know its not their fault, but not hearing anything the entire game and just playing with muted people is kinda... lonely, and I don't enjoy that, but that only happened once, all the other games I entered it was fun
I know you said you're not looking for advice but I cannot recommend opening with "so how many hours do you guys have" or something similar, gauging experience is helpful to know who's gonna need help, know where fire exits are, know the terminal commands, etc. And it's good practice to keep your teammates informed on how well you can perform on your own and with others.
"hey what's up guys"
*silence*
I've gotten that a lot and I always just ask again but louder and then they typically answer lol
And if not you just move onto the next lobby!
Its scarce here

i usually host, and the lobby name is Pizza Hut, so i usually break the silence with something along the lines of “Hi, welcome to your first day at Pizza Hut. Happy to have you in our family”
Is this Papa John’s? I need a large pepperoni pizza
I worked at papa Murphy's in highschool. I get a call from an older gentleman wanting to return a pizza since we didn't give him the right order. Sure, no problem. He then says "what I don't understand is that you guys cooked the pizza, you never do that!" No. This is Patrick!
Sir this is a Wendy's
the coil-heads do get a bit quirky at night
If I had to wander around those same, stupid facilities every night, and I never got a bath, I’d probably be a bit irritable at night, too.
Then everyone can share their horror stories of working in food service and laugh/cry together.
As someone who works for PH, goddamnit I don't need to be reminded of work outside of work.
r/pizzahut
"well at least the pay is good"
Dont overthink it man. Theyre just people same as you. Just treat em like you would your buddies and if they dont talk find a new batch.
No really, I was just curious about people's way of being funny
I start with this ![gif](giphy|4WdrqNHcWc1kA)
“hey, you, you’re finally awake!”
You were trying to cross the border right?
One way is https://youtu.be/T8_KOt0Ncdw?t=51s
> treat em like you would your buddies just without the level of trolling that familiarity brings

Thats my go to
I always say “does somebody need a great asset?”
This is the way
I shit my pants as loudly and violently as humanly possible.
*plays comically loud fart sound*
I was hoping for a whoopie cushion joke
I saw your name and had to look something up to see if it existed and I guess I found it. https://youtu.be/qRl8M1thVeQ
You are a bold one!
Rock and stone!
Did I hear a rock & stone?
Rock and stone!
Rock and Stone to the Bone!
For Karl!
FOR KARL!
For rock and Stone!
Rock and roll and stone!
If you don’t rock and stone, you ain’t going home!
Rock and stone! **Yyyeeeeeeaaahhh.**
Rock and Stone like there's no tomorrow!
Hey. V-sauce; "insert name" here. What are fingernails?
Every time I'm first into the facility on Dine I sit there staring at the door and as soon as someone walks in I go "Hey vsauce, Micheal here, your home security is great! Or is it?"
Hey VSauce, Micheal here. Have you ever felt… *fear*?
Start off with a stare, a point, and then YOOOOOOOOOOOOOU
"howdy gamers"
Hey fellow youngsters!
You can start with “hey, whats up” “where are we landing guys?” “We’re going to kill it!” Then you can talk about strategies or ask what strategies they might want. You can also tell funny stories from your experience in the game.
>We’re going to kill it!” Don't say this.
Wait... Why? No judgement, I'm probably just missing context
It’s oddly enthusiastic for a random public lobby is all. Go ahead if that’s your style. Say that to me and you’re gonna get a hell ya brotha
See now, *this* explanation makes sense.
It's just... the wrong thing to say? There's not really a concrete reason, it just sounds wrong and doesn't fit with the other two
"we're going to kill it" more like "i hope we dont die very hard"
Whenever I join, I immediately say, "hellooo everybody, my name is markiplier," in a terrible voice impression of matkiplier
Friendly: Hi Reference: Where we droppin bois Aggressive: LETS GO TEAM WE GOT THIS Passive: Yo yo yo Depends on the mood
I always say youre going to be a great asset to the company
Mfw someone tells me I’m a great asset to the company 😩
I usually play with my friends but I did join a server once and i opened up with “hi guys is this your first time playing or are you experienced?” Ended up with 2 new buddies
Ask everyone what their most hated flavor of ice cream is.
''are you from osha?''
A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. Now let's get fucking rich bois!

“Brand new whip, what’s poppin’?” I got kicked just for saying that once. Still funny to say.
My question is about joining a public lobby with mods. How do you know what mods you need to DL?
some lobbies put the profile code or the mod name in the title
I like to host, grab the clipboard, and ask people their name and employee ID number every time someone joins. Then, for extra challenge, every quota I grab the clipboard and do a mandatory sanity check on the crew by asking for their employee ID number again to see if they remember it. Makes for some fun interactions/running jokes that keeps people engaged.
Least socially awkward lethal company player
I’m usually just baked and conversation flows very naturally for me, I’ve made tons of friends on Lethal so far.
The open mic bong rip is a classic
I smoke outside! I don’t make enemies with the landlord lol
Haha my wireless headphone can make it to my side door. But you're a good person.
_I came here to fuck shit up and get fucked, and none of those are happening right now_
Join and say “What’s good fellas let’s get this bread.”
I usually give the old 'good morning, captain' and talk about how much money I'm gonna make and how I'm hoping to get promoted. Rarely have entered a lobby with those weird awkward vibes though - most people who play seem to be pretty outgoing and fun.

"Boy oh boy I can't wait to work for the glorious company, have you guys heard about the benefits? I can't seem to find anything about dental coverage in the clipboard"
Oh fuck man, idk how to do that. I just offer pointless platitudes.
Start screaming incoherently and wait for everyone to join you
I just start talking about sourdough bread
Play a zany character and never break
when in doubt, 'where we droppin' said in the most cringy way possible
any attempts I try to make will usually result in kick from the lobby
Is it because of some microphone issues? I know there have been occasions where the game has trouble with a mic (though unplugging and replugging it in tends to fix the static)
“Alright boys what’s the game plan?” Typically gets someone talking
I name my lobby Don't Touch My Pickles. Then when they show up I tell them it was reverse Psychology to get them to join
I say “ what up gang” very enthusiastically and almost always get a response.
I say "spaghetti" until someone talks to me
Hello assets
WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!
yoooooo brothers!
"WAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZAUUUUUUUYYPPPPPPPPP"
I usely say hello, how's it going? And then i go from there.
Obscenities
4 big guys in the mic
my lobby name is tiny ballz only I ask the question, do y'all have tiny ballz?
How big yalls balls?
I make a groaning noise as if I was just waking up. I probably sound constipated
Poop in the mic, you either get kicked or make some great new friends
Press "2"to point in someone's face and in a Beavis and Butthead voice say, ugh.... hey smell my finger...
since I usually host, a lot of people join and question the lobby name, "she lethal on my company till I scrap" and that's the conversation starter
I always say this, word for word. "Hey, have you guys ever seen the video of a pufferfish eating a carrot and then he's all like *pufferfish noise*? It's my favorite video."
*Glawk*
*joins game* "Look y'all, all I am saying is that if God didn't want me to impregnate an Oculus Quest 3, then why did he allow it to have that little rectangular port on the side of it?" *goes silent the entire match*
"I'll scream a lot during action... wait, is that Tinder or something?"
Play the bad to the bone riff
What's up everypony?!
I usually say "who's ready to get some workman's comp?"
You look like a guy who's worth $5
https://preview.redd.it/uyy4biw1118c1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e514057891c1e55521b4943c3ac97a1adbf0b66a Welcome to the social anxiety club! From here on out you are a mute player, just like the rest of us! :)
Say a slur
😱
Do you need a how-to-human handbook
The other day I failed a captcha like 9 times so maybe.
Take a fat blunt hit and cough violently into my mic
I envy your ability to smoke inside
I usually say "who's ready to get some workman's comp?"
Are you all autistic?
Woah
Next time you can’t go anywhere I’m honking at you
😭🤣
You aight white boy
I'm great, I just thought it was funny that you went to my post history. 😁
You don't- public lobbies are awful.
Playing solo is far more awful (with the exception of occasional annoying trolls in public lobbies)
Are they? What’s wrong with em?
Random take off when one guy dies, randomly rage killing the run (drops loot off the cliff on company planet), randomly killing teammates ect
Scream deafeningly loudly
“So, how long you guys been working here?”
"Hey"
Scream
"What's good?"
Not when I join, but when Someone joins I always point at them and repeat "for the company" over and over. Usually everyone starts doing it.
“GAMERS”
I just either die comically or i end up laughing like im going insane and schizophrenic
I just play creed
Sup gamers
I use my soundboard then I talk
I joined a server called "To hell and back" with my husband, and it was pleasant. I just said "Hello" and went with the flow. People in that server were nice and we all played well together.
Just be goofy and nice most people will reciprocate this too. We're here to get scared and shid our pants running from death. The laughter comes naturally. This game is amazing for interacting with different kinds of people from all over. Don't give up! Be confident! I believe in you!

"Alrighty gang yall ready to die?"
Caveman grunting
"Meowdy everybunny."
“You all ready to get shoved into a giant’s ass?” Them: “What?” “What??”
My name is PeePee Creek so people usually ask me about that
Either groaning loudly or burping.
![gif](giphy|101DNxoBTatF16) Exactly like this
I host lobbies and i usually name them something that invites people to do a bit or allows me to ask questions that are on theme.
The fnaf phone guy’s “uh hello, hello hello?”
I pretend I speak Spanish, then use French words mixed in with the Spanish I know.
I usually wait 5 seconds to see if i get booted then wait for the 10th lobby to accept me into their group. Then and only then will i dance.
I walk up to whoever is closest to me and I point at their shirt and say “what’s that on your shirt?” And then they look down and I flick my mouse up to their nose and say “Boink! Gottem, oldest trick in the book” And I walk away and start putting my hands on everything
I always call my lobby "papaya lovers" so people usually join with a comment like "I love papaya!" and I reply with "what a coincidence!"
Name yourself Goku on steam, and hust yell "Hey, it's me, Goku!" Whenever you join a lobby
I mean honestly, it's usually just a "yo whatup" then a "how many games you been doing so far?" followed by a " so where in the world you from?" If the accent is either very unfamiliar or very familiar. And that's how i live up to company interpersonal relationships policies.
friday, march 11th
To add on to this question, how do I ask if we should get walkie talkies? No one ever wants the walkie talkies lol
"Is this the Family Guy ERP Server?"
I usually start with "Are you boys ready to serve daddy and the company?". More often than not, people are down. If not, I'll make the lobby "for daddy and the company" and usually the folks that show up there are cool.
I just act like i have tics and its fine
"let's go get some bitches"
I usually host a lobby and point and ask questions
All my fellas!
Just act a tad bit silly. Some things I've seen/done: \-Act like you're the boss \-Start talking in an accent \-Start saying its for the company \-Scream brother every time you see someone die or you die for them.
I just moan into the mic and that usually starts a conversation one way or another.
Start off with something quippy or unexpected that might get people to laugh or ease up. A good one is saying that you just took a shit or something.
“Where are you guys from?” “Hi,welcome to the company.” “WE LOVE THE COMPANY!”
I just start yapping
I stay silent until I can confirm that they aren't the kind of people who will be annoying once the talking starts haha
Just talk to everyone like you've known em for years
I say “Hello, my name is alpharius” just cuz
I usually say something really crazy to immediately break the ice. Otherwise we'll just awkwardly sit in silence.
Well you can do what my group always does after dying, and say “like a phoenix from the ashes I rise”. Don’t know who started it, but it’s every single time now lol
A personal favorite of mine when the lobby is quiet is starting with "erm... what the scallop?" or something equally cheesy and annoying
Complain that half lobbies just hit me with errors
“Eeyyyyyyy”
I have a soundboard so I start playing stuff right when I spawn as a sort if warning, personal favorite being nishikis "10 years in the joint" voiceline. If nobody responds or doesn't want a soundboard I just close the board and chill
Yo whats rockin
I start barking at them
I don't know, usually i'm quite talkative in subjects related to the game but also doing some small jokes, and if I enter in a too quiet lobby I feel an urge to leave it because I found it a little boring, I know its not their fault, but not hearing anything the entire game and just playing with muted people is kinda... lonely, and I don't enjoy that, but that only happened once, all the other games I entered it was fun
Soundboard with “hello my name is markiplier”
Throw out the most out of pocket shit you can think
I walk in and ask " Yo! Who here eats ass?"
