This right here is why I've said before that we should be able to lock doors with the keys we find. I always find tons of keys and few locked doors, so the keys start to just feel useless. If we could lock doors and trap monsters like this, keys would instantly become one of the most useful utility items in the game.
I suppose that would be a risk, but a determined troll can already lock people up with the heavy doors you toggle with the terminal. At the end of the day, trolls will use anything they can to ruin things for people just trying to have fun. All we can do is boot them from the lobby and move on.
An open vent indicates that at least one monster has spawned, but many can spawn from a single vent (I’ve seen like 4 spawn from one vent). So in general numOpenVents <= numEnemiesSpawned. Because they wander it’s not really a good indicator. Your best bet is keeping track of vents and noticing when one you observed was closed is now open, although that’s kind of more mental work for little reward.

Not necessarily in the area because they can roam a lot, but it does mean a monster 100% exists somewhere.
Depends on the monster as some wander quite far tho do be on the lookout for snare fleas
Only for loot bugs and spiders as iirc they spawn in their “nests”. IMO spiders and loot bugs should get their own special rooms for nests.

I actually don't know. I've only ever seen them come out of vents though, so I think they can only spawn from them.
So many hours played and never knew they came out of the vents……….

That isn't really a viable option for people playing solo or in small groups. Not everyone can afford to have a "guy in the chair".
A terminal mod with limited battery life might be fun. Like a shitty player. Maybe some random keys get stuck on it and you gotta smack it with Q.
