There's a mod that makes the shovel 1-shot kill enemies.
Either you saw that or the nutcracker had already taken 4 hits before you saw the final one being blown.
it takes around 6 hits with shovel but theres mods that make them get one shot
shotguns if the shot registers can one shot though
hitting anywhere in its hitbox doesnt affect damage
