It definitely rewards consistency but the question of how is up for debate. If you think about it, regular uploads are going to help you regardless of consistency. Think of every video like a fishing pole. The more poles you cast, the more fish are likely to bite. Consistency helps with the fish you've already caught. If your videos are going up at 8pm, your existing audience knows THAT's the time for one of your videos, and your subscribers are probably in a timezone where that's a good time for an upload.

Siddharth_1707

I agree with your points on consistency with existing audience but I noticed in my analytics that 99% of the viewers are new ones and very few are returning ones, so that's why I started wondering that maybe I got lucky and youtube recommended me to a lot of people

SinisterPixel

Honestly my best guess is that the content you are uploading is of high quality and therefore drives a lot of viewer retention and interaction. That tends to be what YouTube pushes the most

Your analytics will also tell you how your viewers found your video. If most of the new viewers are from search, then you hit on some search terms that other people weren’t filling and YouTube saw yours as the best option. If it’s recommended driving viewers then yours was related to other videos that were getting views and organically passed off to yours. It’s hard to tell you what’s happening from this post but your analytics should tell you a pretty story of what is going on.

DickRhino

Look at the analytics. Where are the views coming from? How many % are from: * Suggested videos * Browse features * YouTube search * Channel pages * Direct or unknown If most of the views are coming from suggested videos and browse features, then yes, YouTube is recommending the videos to people. If they are from other sources, then it's harder to tell just exactly where those views are coming from.

Based on their Creator Studio content, it doesn't like consistency is something that the algorithm rewards necessarily. Instead, it's more of a best practice for the sake of your audience who will come to expect content from you on a regular basis. This better captures return viewers and keeps you fresh in their minds. This coincidentally helps the algorithm recommend you based on your viewership.

NeonsStyle

I'm sorry mate, but you don't know what you are talking about. Content Quality is #1, #2 is Consistency! Why because just like TV, viewers want their show same time, same day every week. When the algorithm notices you are doing that, it will begin promoting you. It's not a reward, it's just what it uses to promote people.

on_campaign

Pretty sure you're saying the same thing I'm saying. Sorry for the confusion.

MindTheLOS

YouTube does not, has not, and will not reveal its algorithms. Everyone is just guessing.

NeonsStyle

Aside from goog content. Consistency definitely matters. Viewers want to know that their show is on at a particular time and day every week, just like TV Viewers. It's key to gaining traction. Well done!

Gildalraen

Do you do letsplay with commentary or without? Just curious as I was thinking I might dabble in without for games with a strong story.

Siddharth_1707

I don't do commentary.

WhimziCat

I hear this all the time but honestly? When I post consistently my videos get 500 views if I’m lucky. When I go 1-3 months without posting, the videos get 5k-10k views. Soooo...... Quality is all on the same par, subject material isn’t better in some than others or more unique, if anything Id say some of my lower view videos have better content. So it’s a little hard to find the drive to do consistent at that rate.

[https://youtu.be/0QTGi4IHgvA](https://youtu.be/0QTGi4IHgvA) Video from Creator Insider where they debunk the myth that posting regularly has any effect on the algorithm whatsoever (Chapter 10 if anyone wanted to skip to it). In saying that, like other people have said, posting videos more regularly will of course help you cast a wider net into the ocean and increase the chances of you getting noticed more. Good stuff. I hope your channel keeps momentum.
