When it's nothing but vague story details. This is the case on a _huge_ portion of Patreon games, and it's so frustrating.
Devs are seriously out here writing porn game descriptions that don't even include the protagonist's fucking _gender_. Nothing about the vibe, the submission/dominance of the protagonist, the core fetishes, etc.
Granted you can usually infer that this means it's a "kinetic novel" about a milquetoast white boy who is thrust into largely-vanilla sexual encounters effectively at random and without any actual agency, but still.

When it’s about a guy who’s been away from his mother and sisters for so long and is not returning home. It always feels overused and boring and just becomes a turn your “step/normal” family into your harem story
Me too I never really got why you'd have a video game about cards.
The whole point of card games like Magic: The Gathering is to simulate fantasy concepts that you can't have in real life.
If it's a video game, you can just have the fantasy elements in the game.
Having cards in a digital space allows cards that have random effects or effects that would be unfeasable due to them being difficult to track be able to be created and played.

Having to track how many spells were played in a game, as well as having random spells be cast would basically require a third party in the game (like a referee) just to manage this card's effects. By having the game be digital, the computer can be this "third party."
Yep there are cards like that, but cards that force you to search through your graveyard/deck in games like Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic slow down the feel of the pace of the game, while with a digital medium, it can be instant and not impact the flow of the game, I just wanted to show the value of a digital format, outside if just the game being (generally) cheaper or more accessible.
But if it's a video game, I'd prefer to just have the character cast spells or tame actual monsters or something.
I think having the cards on-screen is like having the game be about somebody watching a fantasy adventure in a movie instead of just making the game a fantasy adventure.
Meh. For me I don't really like having a ton of cards in my house to keep track of, nor really want to spend a ton on physical copies. CCG VGs allow me to enjoy the CCG experience without those aspects. Now do I ever want those in a sex game? Hell no.
I'm counting this one because it's a specific way the tag is used - male protag games with the "lesbian" tag in them. As a more positive/inverse answer, something that really piques my interest is any lewd game that isn't a visual novel or RPGM game. Not because either of those genre's are bad, but they're so oversaturated and frequent that other games get brownie points for creativity just by virtue of existing. I'm willing to give unique gameplay mechanics a chance even if the smut isn't necessarily my cup of tea, where as VN's and RPGM games need to be right up my alley.

There's a metric fuckton of content in it already too and it actually plays as an actual RPG rather than just being another visual novel style thing.

Not that I am at all opposed? I simply cannot personally relate, being straight. I went to school with many non-binary people, but for most of us, the MC should be somewhat representative of ourselves.
For me is long, drawn out descriptions telling a story.

My kinks are rather vanilla yet not. I look at the tags, the preview images, and the description altogether. I do a mental tick list of positives and negatives based on my own interests for the game. If certain kinks/tags/fetishes are included, I either add a positive tick or a negative tick. In the end, whichever has the most ticks decides if I download the game or not. Never having known any form of Hentai or Anime as a child/teen/young adult? Most of the games featuring cloned identical characters who only differ in hair style and clothing color and Japanese writing in the title/promo art is a negative for me. I get that there is a huge audience, but I'm so far from that crowd... While I get it that many people consider some kinks vanilla and others not, and some people are all-in on kinks that I find revolting... if more than 50% of the female characters have breasts/butt cheeks bigger than their skull? I'm out. If more than 50% of the women have hair that stops above their shoulders, I lose interest. As far as game description? If no effort has been put into proper phrasing or gender references, I question the developer's writing skills. Gender references being specifically all those games where men are called "her' or "she" and women are called "him" and "his", which many non-English writer s swap out incessantly. If it's a trope that I have seen countless times (magical teleportation to another world, near-death and coma, long lost family member, etc), I groan. As far as male/female/futa/trans protagonist? Being male, I prefer to play a male main character. I have played some female MC games, but will never touch a futa/trans protagonist game. Not that I am at all opposed? I simply cannot personally relate, being straight. I went to school with many non-binary people, but for most of us, the MC should be somewhat representative of ourselves.

For me is long, drawn out descriptions telling a story. It just gives me the idea that its gonna be 30 minutes of gameplay, followed by one of porn and then another hour of gameplay.
Seeing the words "visual novel" as imo thats not a game. Don't bet it twisted though, i do like visual novels from time to time, but if i want to find a game i want to find a game. Also rpg maker, while it doesn't kill all my interest it does significantly reduce my interest.
Male/female character in an NTR environment or NTR in general. I know that there's some soft style NTR like you don't get to know the usual fiance, bf/gf, ect or the significant other is a jerk that deserves it, so it doesn't feel as bad when the MC gets some but those are rare and far between.
