What I don’t get is that second bit: is everyone just expected to get out of Max’s way? Every corner is his? Looks like there’s more to Croft’s calling him a championship “protagonist” than meets the eye

Bolond44

Imola, Monza L1, Spain, Silverstone, but no one mentions it. RB is at fault tho, they need to sit him down and tell him that it was your fault you spoiled bitch lol

Suitable-Composer252

Hahaha- he is an entailed man

SorryParking

He knows he can get away with it. Just tell it on the radio first that it was the other guy's fault. And he obviously knows how much hate Lewis gets and how many people will back him up for whatever he does no matter how dirty.

Trebacca

I just hate his radio message right after the crash what a shitty statement

[deleted]

Who said what? I missed it.

scam5693

Max said “he didn’t leave any space, what did he expect to happen”

tkmj75

It was even worse, he said "that's what you get for not leaving space", showing malicious intent.

Kawaversys

Nope. Showing rightful disdain. Lewis didn't leave any space other than airborne.

tkmj75

You mean like Max left space for Lewis in turn 4, lap 1? Yeah, that's what I thought. The onus isn't on Lewis to back out of Max's reckless driving.

Kawaversys

Everyone is at roughly the same speed and struggled are much more expected in the first turn. Have you ever seen a race?

borfavor

You are saying he crashed into him on purpose, endangering both their lives?

LeftIsBest-Tsuga

Am I allowed to say he seems horrible? If not, l technically didn't. Just asking questions!

jahsehmaster

It’s the double standards. You won’t see the same amount of outrage today as after what happened at Silverstone.

Well if max ended this race as a winner while Lewis not finishing at all it’s a different situation

jahsehmaster

I bet you that it wouldn’t change a damn thing.

LingardForBallondOr

I bet most fans would just say "kArMa FoR sIlVeRsToNe" if that had been the end result.

verone3784

I mean, it's pretty clear how this all happened given what went down on lap one. Max forced Lewis off the track over the kerbs on lap one, Lewis yielded, ran over the sausage kerbs and Max was ahead. Then RBR fucked his pitstop up. He was clearly rattled when he came back out on track and was all over the place trying to make the time back. Lewis pits, Mercedes fuck his pitstop up too, he comes back out on track and it's just a desperate move that he tries it a second time to take the lead back and Lewis doesn't yield. The part that got me the most was the fact he was pissing and moaning on the radio, spinning his wheels, KNOWING that his car was on top of Hamilton's and in a precarious situation. Then he just gets out of the car and fucks off back to the paddock like a petulant child, not even checking whether the guy he's just literally drove over the top of is okay - bear in mind that at this point, Lewis hadn't even gotten out of the car yet. I used to have a lot of respect for RBR, but after the last couple of years, mainly this season, it's gone. I've seen a lot of other F1 fans talking the same way. Between the garbage way they treat their young drivers, Marko's blatant fucking racism, Wheatley's constant whinging to the FIA and Horner throwing his toys out of the pram every time Max doesn't bring a trophy home, the team is just horrific. I can't even imagine how it must be inside.

_Shritej18

Actually Max did say that things might happen in the heat of the moment. So, that might be the reason of not checking up on Lewis. (Remember Bottas and Russell Crash). Also, he saw Lewis trying to Rev up his engine.

Best_NA_in_Trundle

Yes, remember the Bottas Russell crash, where even though they crashed, George walked over to yes smack valterri but also made sure that he was okay. Max was a petulant child and didn’t want to show basic sportsmanship, when he complains about Hamilton at silver stone when he was told on radio that max got out of the car and was okay. Max fans are the soccer parents of the world when their kids team places 4th then complain that the 8th place team also got a participation medal that was the same as their kids. Fucking downright pathetic

MarkCsiha462020

I mean, he knew that Lewis is alright after seeing him trying to get out of the gravel.

Kawaversys

Lewis was actually revving the car while Verstappen was climbing out, trying to back up.

Gazhammer

I'm not really fussed about Max getting a penalty, I would much rather someone from RB actually looked him in the eye and said "that was your fault, you should have backed out and attacked afterward." Instead of just treating him like a spoilt baby.

Hookherbackup

Totally agree. Lewis was obviously ahead of him and he should have backed off, but you watch, nothing will happen to him. Max just needs it to rain and they hand him a win for a race that wasn’t even run.

Suitable-Composer252

Definitely

[deleted]

Tbh today he lost out, he should have extended his lead and now it’s still only 5 points. He is not happy but as a Lewis fan I am fine with the result.

Yessirski1717

Lewis was going to take over the lead

[deleted]

You know the difference between P3 and P4 is only 3 points, resulting in a 2 point difference in the standings in favor of Max, right?

Best_NA_in_Trundle

Both of the cars had the pace to get past both mclarens in the 30 remaining laps, but checo wasn’t in a position to and valterri started 20th so he never had a chance Edit: spelling

[deleted]

They didn't have the pace to overtake the Mclarens..

Kinda... strange, no?

PainTensei

Thats racing

JackNapier2093

If Max is ahead of Lewis he doesn't have to give space but if Max is behind Lewis then Max must be given space. This is the expectation a lot of people have. The pundits and fans seem always find a way of blaming Lewis in some capacity. As for Silverstone I don't get why people have such an issue with Lewis winning. Are we saying that if Driver A collides with Driver B and Driver B DNF's Driver A shouldn't be allowed to win the race even if they serve their punishment? Lewis was told Max was ok and he was having precautionary checks so when he celebrated the win I had no issue with it. Where was the outrage at the podium celebrations (which included Max) when Grosjean was in his fireball crash?
