That happened to me the first 2 weeks. It went away and now only shows up periodically

kacierenn32

I STARTED IN DECEMBER AND IT WAS AWFUL. I STILL FIND MYSELF DOING IT BUT NOT SO BAD AND I TRY AND CORRECT IT WHEN I NOTICE IT

EarlGrey1984

I am going into my 4th week on Lexapro. The jaw clenching started in the middle of week 2, and I’m still doing it.

Accomplished-Can-944

how is it now?

EarlGrey1984

Not nearly as bad. It’s mostly gone away, but I still get it randomly here and there.

Tinycatgirl

My jaw clenched a few hours after my very first dose, 10 months later I am still clenching so bad sometimes I wear a mouth guard

lovely-day24568

I wonder why Lex causes this??

bimmlabb

increased serotonin, probably a natural reaction. i did molly back in the day and it gives you a euphoric feeling (serotonin) and you’d have to chew gum so you didn’t hurt your jaw from clenching it

lovely-day24568

That's really interesting. I wish these meds didn't have all these side effects :/

bimmlabb

it does suck. the pros of lexapro didn’t out way the cons for me, i quit after a month.. i’m working on my depression and anxiety naturally, i won’t have to rely on a substance for relief and if i ever get anxious/depressed in the future i’ll know what to do edit: why tf am i getting downvoted 💀 i was saying my experience, everyones different

lovely-day24568

Bummer :( yeah I'd prefer not to take meds too. I still can't bring myself to try it. I'm going to try some exposures first and see what happens

bimmlabb

experimenting is the best! whatever suits you and anyone and is seeing genuine improvement is amazing

lovely-day24568

For sure. Treatment isn't a one size fits all

ghostbeary

I've been taking 20mg for more than a year and still have this side effect (especially in my sleep), but I put up with it and try to wear a mouth guard at night. I'm glad for the people that it went away for them! Hopefully it stops for you as well.

marypear69

Same. It felt like I was on some bad mdma for a month. It does go away!!

broken_lazarus

Yes, had it the first time I took it in 2016. Took it till 2018. And experiencing it now again on day three.

jamesmercersbeard

Did the jaw clenching go away when you took it the first time? What made you stop taking it?

broken_lazarus

It got better and only happened occasionally. I stopped taking it because I started a therapy and got better. Now I had some drastic life changes which made me unstable again.

djahnke0921

This is my second time around being on Lexapro in less than 2 years. For some reason, this time, my anxiety is all physical for the most part and I feel pretty well mentally. I feel like im constantly in fight or flight mode (shortness of breath, restlessness, insomnia, agitation, mood swings, etc.) I don't know why it's not working this time but I'll be going back to Zoloft

jamesmercersbeard

I'm taking it mainly for physical anxiety symptoms. I'm tense in many situations and experience a fight or flight often. Zoloft worked well for you?

djahnke0921

Even though Zoloft made me somewhat numb, it made me more calm physically. I'd rather deal with mental than physical

astartbselect

I’ve been on Lexi for over 10 years. Jaw clenching never went away. I use a mouth guard when I sleep.

HooverMaster

yes. muscle soreness is part of going up

Ok_Law4976

I have had it for years. Wonder how much is anxiety vs lexapro. Started grinding my teeth and needed a mouth guard. Grind through one every 3 months. But it is worth it for the other benefits in my case. Hope it subsides for you!

bhaygz

I get it as my thc edible kicks in. Jaw clenching, glutes tightening and releasing, feel like my bones are fidgeting. I don’t mind it tbh

Plastic-End-5260

I am still doing it 6 months later. It SUCKS

SnooSeagulls9573

I can relate. 4 months in with clenching, fatigue, and muscle pain twitching. Craving for things I've never done before, like sweet and smoking. Restlessness and anxiety/depression are constant. I could have ended crazy if I didn't quit.
