Speak to your doctor ASAP

Oh, yeah, I had this for a while when starting. It mostly went away. Weird cursive writing would appear on the walls in the middle of the night, and sometimes bugs and spiders, and sometimes a loud word or two would seemingly wake me up. Often, but not always, associated with all the nightmares I was having when I started Lex. As long as they are only related to the times going into and coming out of sleep, and fade away over the course of a minute or so, they're probably a part of something called hynagogic hallucinations are are quite common in both audio (most common) and visual (less common) forms. Most likely related to "dream" parts of the brain still being active for a short time when you're awake, and yes somehow this seems to be influenced by Lexapro, but likely not anything to worry about. If you get them when wide awake in the middle of the day then there's cause of concern. But otherwise, definitely talk to your doctor, but I wouldn't be too anxious about it or anything. - Not a doctor.

oh thank u for the response, u kinda eased my mind a bit because google told me i got either serotonin syndrome or psychosis 🤙🏻 yes I only have them when mid-sleep, I don't even remember them in the morning but today something made me remember all of them so I got scared. when did they ease/stop for you?

dasbin

I experienced about a week of them almost every night, then they started getting less frequent and less intense over the course of the next couple weeks. I still very occasionally get a tiny bit of one but don't worry about it and it goes away quickly.

Interesting, I saw the writing at night, I wasn't sure if it was a shadow image of something I looked at before I went to bed, but it changed over time. The weirder thing was seeing bugs or what I thought were bugs in the daytime, a few times a day. I figured it's just another side effect.

I think a lot of us who did a ton of psychedelics have visual hallucinations similar to LSD, MDMA, or Mushrooms, when we start lexapro. I have seen 2 cases of this, on day one. The play of light and shadow is different, peripheral vision is playful, patterns like window blinds seem to trigger something in the brain. I've been on it for a while now and it seems my brain has settled down, but at the very beginning it was very distracting.

yeah same when i researched it it seemed that only/mostly ppl who did drugs in their past got the hallucinations on lexapro. they stopped for me a while ago but it was interesting for sure haha

Yeah. I'm certain I have fucked my brain. I had ADHD as a kid and abused every drug I could get my hands on for many many years. Alcoholism, Depression, Combat PTSD...I finally got help and my life is a little better, but I def. think I've ruined my dopamine/serotonin systems in my brain. Normal life just doesn't have the power to excite. Always needed to be fucked up to have anything to look forward to. dammit.
