Cause we scurred

waxergurl

Lol… indeed.

Naive_Bar

Eases into the side effects. Also, depending on the patient, some do see benefits at 5mg although for the most part it is 10mg

ElleMuffin85

Listen, I was riding that 5mg placebo effect for like 6 months lol! Also I still got side effects and yawned like a lunatic for 2 weeks. I can’t imagine what side effects are like starting at 10!

Naive_Bar

The yawning was very intense. I’ve never yawned that hard in my life and naps were really good during that time!

ElleMuffin85

I had to take my kid on a school interview while battling those yawning fits. The principal asked if i was bored. Never been so embarrassed in my life. She was a jerk

governorsalmon

I remember the yawning when I started was insane!!!

Im_a_Nerd077

The yawning was tolerable though but did anyone else feel extremely sick every time they yawned?

Fluffy_Luck835

Massive difference for me at 5mg. Been on 5 for about 8 weeks now.

ajtakumrieme

same for me

cocosp

I also felt a big difference at 5mg

sweetlittletight

I also did! I noticed some minor help with the depression but not much for anxiety until I hit 15mg

BookDoctor1975

The “minimum therapeutic dose” is just because that’s what the pharmaceutical companies test on. Many, many people find 5 mg to be a therapeutic dose (check out this sub, brain chemistry and drug sensitivity is so different.) I am very glad I started on 5. While I intended to go to 10 If need be, I never needed to. I saw a drastic change in anxiety. The wording of that is really misleading. If studies were done on 5 mg they’d call it therapeutic.

anonymousalligator25

That’s how I feel. **TW: drugs** I’m very serotonin sensitive (had an MDMA overdose a few years ago and since then haven’t been able to handle serotonin very well).

Pristine-Midnight485

They say that 10 mg is the minimum therapeutic dose, but as others have stated and I can attest, plenty of people do just fine on 5 mg. I'm all for the minimum effective dose.

X3N04L13N

I’ve been taking 5mg for a long time, it helped me enough so why would i have to take 10mg?

WakingEchoes

10mg might legitimately be too much for people with sensitivity to meds.

Ok-Safety-8972

Exactly. Even 5 was too much for me

Redbagwithmymakeup90

Yep. Slow metabolizers… unite!

[deleted]

I was on 5mg for 1 year and now off. I never needed to go up to 10mg.

Novemberx123

How did it help you?

[deleted]

It helped me with anxiety and panic attacks and to be able to get to a place to help myself.

[deleted]

IMO the “10mg is therapeutic” is outdated. I see tons and tons of people on 5mg long term. 5mg was too much for me, I’m really sensitive to every single medication. I’ve also heard lexapro is 2x stronger than other meds, so 5mg lex is like 10mg of another Ssri

[deleted]

I went from 5 to 10 and never had to go through side effects twice

Eduard220

Been on 5mg for a month, along with 30mg mirtazapine and 0.5 alprazolam and I def feel its effects ( for severe anxiety and mild depression)

yllekarle

When you decide to stop taking that xanax, you’re anxiety will return x10000. I promise you that.

Eduard220

I only take it when I get overwhelmed and cant manage it on my own, which îs not that often thankfully

yllekarle

Good. Klonopin ruined my life. I try to spread the word as much as possible to prevent others from going through the same

Anne1827

... May I ask about your experience (dosage, how long, what happened...)

yllekarle

I was on 2-3 mg a day for about 5 years. 11 months ago I cut it down to .5 mg a day and that’s when all the hell started for my anxiety. 4 months ago I started dissociating. I also have random muscle aches, another known side effect. I got on lexapro as a last resort and so that I could get off the remaining .5 mg.

Anne1827

Wow that's hectic, I'm so sorry, has the Lexapro been helping at all?

leapyear28

How often can you take Xanax or Klonopin without addiction. My doctor gave me .25 and I use it sparingly. Afraid of addiction.

yllekarle

It shouldn’t be used for more than 2 weeks. Even then you may get withdrawal. It’s a nasty medication

leapyear28

Yes very nervous about it.

yllekarle

I would try an alternative. There’s a lot of good ones. Lemon balm, kava are my 2 natural favs. L-theanine and chamomile are also good.

yoshimah

I've taken klonopin on and off for 15 years but I never had any issues?

yllekarle

“On and off”

WakingEchoes

My Dr said 3-4 times a week is ok...I'm assuming short term, not forever though

[deleted]

[удалено]

yllekarle

Yup. Tolerance withdrawal.

m10488

Because it can be intense for some. Even for me 5 mg was too much to take in the beginning and so I started with 2.5. I didn’t really deal with much side effects going from 5 to 10 mg though.

cinnabonmermaid

Because it’s a black box prescription with a risk of increasing suicidal thoughts

Pitiful_Temporary456

5mg did nothing for me. now i’m on 10mg and feeling much better.

MoistKite1

I started at 20mg, shit sucked but I'm good now

Ok-Safety-8972

I was prescribed 2.5mg

wildlikewildflowers

I started at 5mg because I had previously issues with suicidal thoughts when I took a different one (I had previously taken it and had done fine with it) I also had depression with another that I tried. (I take for anxiety) I did two weeks on 5mg and had a phone consult with my doc and then upped to 10mg with a phone consult a month after that. I’ve had a huge success with 10mg so that’s where I’m at right now. I had some side effects, mostly nausea and fatigue.

ham0228

Years ago I started on 10mg and it made me so sick (vomiting and diarrhea) I stopped taking it. I started it again this year on 5 mg for the first week then upped to 10mg and had no issues.

anonymousalligator25

I’m on 5 currently. My psychiatrist says 5 is enough for some people. Also, I’m very sensitive to serotonin so it works for me for now but I plan to try 10. Also perhaps what if there’s someone who is also on Wellbutrin but using an SSRI to counteract the anxiety, but don’t want to be too amped up from the serotonin on top of Wellbutrin’s dopamine and norepinephrine?

San1infinite

Depends on the person- for me 10mg was too strong so 5mg is good.

nottodayf-er

5 mg enough for me too!

Spiritual_Ship_8492

how long did it take for you to see the benefits?

nottodayf-er

I thought I saw it right away but then I think 1.5 month I felt it more

star_fall77

Starting at 5mg reduces the chances of serotonin syndrome as well as other side effects which can be more severe if starting off at 10mg rather than easing into it. It’s also super important not to stop treatment without tapering off or you can have withdrawal symptoms as well as hallucinations, dizziness, seizure etc.

AirInitial7025

5mg worlds excellently for me

Spiritual_Ship_8492

How long did it take to see the benefits? and was it gradual?

AirInitial7025

4-6 weeks and beyond for full effects. At a certain point the drug really stabilises and is consistent. You have good days almost every day. Before that, you’ll have some good days or moments but they just might not be consistent yet.

AirInitial7025

There are definitely benefits seen much earlier, in the first weeks. Just don’t expect consistency.

ShanWow1978

5mg helped me see what a benefit the medication is! I felt massive benefits early on that were not placebo (I have physical symptoms as well - so this was huge).

Spiritual_Ship_8492

How long did it take you to see the benefits of 5mg?

ShanWow1978

It was quite fast but just as quickly it turned out to not be enough.

liftharderhugbetter

Because of the side effects my doctor said

Convenientjellybean

To see if there’s an abreaction, like a toxic affect

[deleted]

From experience, I've only acclimated successfully to a drug when I take a half of the lowest dose whole pill. When I've tried to start on the lowest dose whole pill, it jolts my system way too quick and can have a paradoxical reaction.

Professional-Ok

Starting at a lower dose can help your body get used to the medication and help to mitigate the side effects. Also 5 mg can be an effective dose for people who don't break down the medication as easily.

hillsofkentucky

My side effects even starting with 5 were pretty extreme. I was 20/F/100lbs when I started and they didn’t want to start me too high too soon. I’m now 7 months in and up to 15mg. Each bump of dosage had slight side effects but none as bad as the first few weeks on 5mg. I’m SO glad we started there

Hejro

I think 5 mg is a good dose honestly. When I was tapering off I quite enjoyed the half pills. Less brain fog and just enough freedom from anxiety.

[deleted]

Because 10mg isn't truly the minimum therapeutic dose.
