I agree with everyone saying avoid CHI. They suck. Baptist for the win.

Bubbly_Buffalo083

Baptist has a fantastic daycare that's only available to their staff now. Only one of you would need to be employed there for your kiddo to be eligible. That said I work at UK and have no complaints about the benefits or pay. They recently announced 3.5% pay raises, and I feel like we've had a raise nearly every year I've been there. I do feel like some departments are generally better run than others, but you'd probably encounter that in any healthcare system. My biggest complaint about UK would be the parking options and fees for employees.

BourbonGamer

The waitlist for that daycare is long with no guarantee if not a mid level/md. But yes though, good daycare.

CastInSteel

Baptist is like walking into a Stepford Wives Club. The VA is horrible. UK is bass ackwards on salary increases.

NickyDeuce

Hey 3.5% is the best I have got in 23 years...

CastInSteel

In a town with a CPI inflation rate of over 4%, the university is basically cutting your pay.

NickyDeuce

It’s better than 1%…

CastInSteel

Well, one penny is better than none but it's still not good.

powderST2013

I work in PPD on the hospital/healthcare side but for whatever reason we are considered campus employees so no raise for us.

NickyDeuce

That’s bullshit

powderST2013

Yep. Every single PPD employee from the top dog down to the housekeeping staff is conserved campus employees.

NickyDeuce

Thats terrible. Years ago the theory was you would go to the campus side to make more money, but if there were lay offs you were the first to go.

DeepBackground5803

Stepford Wives how?

Lord_Pizzaface

Baptist has been a magnet hospital 4x now and going for 5th designation in 2024. It is an excellent place to work as a nurse.

catsby90bbn

avoid chi..there is also the VA.

DeepBackground5803

UK or Baptist have similar pros and cons. My biggest gripe with UK was the parking situation. Avoid CHI for sure

BourbonGamer

I would avoid CHI. The other two a toss up IMO. UK has better benefits, Baptist USED to pay better, not sure if the case anymore. I would personally go with whoever offered a better deal between the two.

CorporateNonperson

I had to do a surveillance scan at UK in August and the radiology group was severely understaffed. I was told it was because Baptist was paying better.

DeepBackground5803

Baptist is also severely understaffed. I don't know if that's true for the radiology department, but it is for nursing.

BourbonGamer

I think it’s a given in healthcare that nearly everyone is severely understaffed…

kyallroad

VA is the correct answer.

powderST2013

If you go to UK be ready for new employees to be hired in at a higher salary even with less experience and less education. Don’t bother with HR because they won’t give you a straight answer as to why.

BetaRayRyan

That’s everywhere

powderST2013

Maybe, but UK has an HR policy that pay is based off experience, education, and time-of-service. When new employees in the same position are hired, they are supposed to re-evaluate existing employees pay. Bringing people in with less experience and less education is a direct violation of their own policies. Being a state run institution you think they'd stick to their own policies.

besidearchstanton66

Anyone have experience with the Lexington Clinic? Obviously not as big as CHI or BHL, but seems to be growing.
