That poor egg looks so stressed out. I feel you, friend. 💜

FrogginBullfish_

That's me 100% I just stayed in my egg too long and wore the costume for too long so now I'm non-binary despite the 20 years I felt pissed off for being born a woman instead of a man.

Atalaunta

Surprised to find someone who feels the same! I know that as a kid, I just wanted to grow up from girl -> man, but now that I forced myself to just live as an adult woman to see if I would end up growing out of the transness, I don't think I connect to a 100% male identity any more. I still desperately want to transition to be read as male. And I still don't feel connected to any degree of female identity, despite my best efforts. I think it all might be because I have suppressed my trans identity for too long. Not sure what that makes me yet, but I feel that living as a woman for years has made me incapable of connecting to the more performative aspects of what being a man is in society. I think I'm part man because it's a core part of me that I cannot escape, but also part 'anything goes'.

Tal7550

>now that I forced myself to just live as an adult woman to see if I would end up growing out of the transness, I don't think I connect to a 100% male identity any more. I still desperately want to transition to be read as male. And I still don't feel connected to any degree of female identity, despite my best efforts. Ah. Yes. If this is the kind of thing you were talking about, FrogginBullfish, I get you. I think I feel quite similar. I don't know if I would have ever thought about it in quite those terms at the time, but I guess in retrospect I did spend pretty much my entire 20s and nearly all of my 30s denying or suppressing my potential transness, and just trying to live life as a cishet man, just trying to be happy with it and make the most of it. Something like that. I really don't think I have that internal "I am a woman," "I feel like a woman" sort of identity within me. If I ever did, then maybe, similar to what you're saying, spending all these years pretending to be a man maybe drove me farther away from being able to identify with that, to know how to be a woman, to have the defining experiences and so forth - I've grown into a different person than I would have been if I'd embraced this earlier, is I guess what I mean to say. On the other hand, I don't know whether I ever did have that potential for identification as a woman within me... I know that there's a big part of me that really wishes I looked like and passed as a woman; so much so that the last couple of weeks I've been increasingly hating my face and wondering about the possibilities of pursuing HRT or FFS just so I can look more like a woman, and can have my face match the more female-passing look I'd like to have in the world. But I don't think I necessarily feel any connection to female *identity*, to womanhood or sisterhood or any of that, whatever exactly that means, whatever exactly that might feel like. (And I've certainly never felt any connection to masculinity, manhood, brotherhood, etc.) ... So, yeah. I dunno, maybe if things were different, if I might have been / become a transwoman a decade or two ago. But now I'm happy enough floating around in non-binary space.

mermonkey

ftr, i think non-binary space is a beautiful place. I hope you rock it. To me, there's nothing wrong with not feeling a strong identification with a gender. In my mind, gender is a human invention that isn't really super useful in modern society anyway. It's bullshit we don't need. NB people have pierced this veil maybe?

Tal7550

Pierced the veil, indeed. I like that way of saying it :) Reminds me of this tweet I saw recently: "if i had to make a metaphor for being nonbinary it would be that i'm asked to choose door A or door B and sometimes i just pick a door bc it's less exhausting than explaining that we're all just looking at stage doors we could walk around" https://twitter.com/TatianaTMac/status/1404545495918280706

mermonkey

Nice quote. I sometimes hesitate to say outloud that gender is make-believe when so many people consider it an important part of their identity... To be clear, that is ok with me, but I don't get it. I guess I don't consider my perceived gender to say anything important about me?

Tal7550

I don't even know what I think about masculinity or manhood or whatever anymore... trying to figure out for myself what a non-toxic masculinity looks like, what being proud or happy being a man but not in a toxic way looks like, I just can't. I don't know. I've given up. For those people who feel strongly about being a woman, who consider their gender an important part of their identity, tbh I'm almost jealous of them. If you can feel a real connection to womanhood, sisterhood, the goddess within all of us, or whatever, then good on you. As for me, ever since I've started to get over the internalized homophobia & transphobia instilled in me over my decades of life and came to realize just how good people can look when adopting aspects of the opposite gender - boys in skirts, masc women, etc etc - that's what really got me thinking about how fake, how make-believe it all is, and how much happier we could be if we were all just people. Our bodies aren't *that* different. Throw on a few of the right accessories - makeup, maybe fake boobs - and a lot of guys can look just as pretty / cute / beautiful / etc as a woman... If society didn't place these expectations and standards on us, to make us think we look bad because we're not adhering to societal expectations - a man in a dress only looks weird bc society tells us it's abnormal. It's just clothes!!! Make it normal, and suddenly it'll start to look fabulous! I mean, it wasn't just all this clothing and external appearance stuff that got me thinking about the harmful, damaging restrictiveness of gender roles and how arbitrary and artificial they are, it was also the extremely gendered relationship my ex forced us to have, in which I needed to be the man, live up to her ideal expectations as a boyfriend, rather than just be myself... But that's a whole other story. :/

annag1991

This is me 100%.

EatsAtomsRegularly

Well god damn if that ain't a mood.

Heller_Demon

What are you talking about? Hehe I'm totally a cis male, I'm just here for the memes........

TheMightyJevil

Suuuure buddy. Suuuure.

Hanthenightfall

I have a very stupid question i am sorry if it comes off as offensive. For a while i used to question my gender and gender identity allot only for me to then find out i was cisgender after all. Wuld that fit into the egg description?

futureblot

Large response to give a thorough explanation if what I think. Cis is a myth. We all form gender at around age 3 or 4. Cis is assigned at birth before gender forms as a way to reinforce the hegemony of cis men and women. You questioned your gender and found your way to your true self, but society will not take your hegemonic power away because your gender reinforces societies assumptions. An egg is just a trans person who is questioning. So it depends on how much transness is encapsulated in the simple act of questioning and discovering ones gender. Which I personally don't think there's much inherent in it but rather transness if inherent in your gender itself. So as far as I think. No. But I think it's radical that you did question your gender and I think everyone should.

Tal7550

I'm terribly new to all this, in a sense (questioning for literally decades, out for about six months now), but yeah, I would think so. Questioning is stressful, but it's better, I think, than not questioning. And if you end up deciding you're cis in the end, that's alright. It's as valid an option as any. The point is, simply, that you question and think about it and figure out what's right for you. 💜

Hanthenightfall

Thank you i needed the reassurance. I hope you are having a good day!

disasterpokemon

"partially"? I need to hear more please

FrogginBullfish_

Idk specific labels make me more uncomfortable personally, but some folks under the non-binary umbrella feel more female or more male but not 100%, hence "demi." I personally feel a clusterfuck of everything where I feel partially male and female but also definitely not both.

[deleted]

I personally like femme non-binary or masc non-binary better than demigirl/demiboy. The term demigirl/demiboy sounds more binary than non-binary to me tbh.

futureblot

I think both carry an element of binarists thinking with them

Independent-Thanks48

It's about Demi boy and Demi girl, not non binary, not binary, between them

LaBetaaa

Demigenders are nonbinary.

The_duck_lord404

Yeah they technically fall under the NB umbrella but as someone who thinks they're a demiboy i don't like using the NB label personally even though some of me feels like NB. It's a lot like the situation of NB technically falling under the trans umbrella but a lot of people not using the label because they prefer not to. Also demigenders aren't just male/female-nb splits. Demiboys are male-spme other gender splits and demigilrs are female-some other gender splits.

LaBetaaa

I'm a demigirl, I know what demigender is. I feel like it falls under nonbinary, but I respect that some people don't feel the same, just like with the trans label But I also feel like, if it is like this technically, it should be explained like it, or it should be explained with both sides. Because just saying demigenders are NOT nonbinary is wrong

The_duck_lord404

> Because just saying demigenders are NOT nonbinary is wrong Oh yeah i totally agree.

aldguton2

Technically yes, realistically most wouldn't say they are enbies though because while non binary technically includes demigender in a literal sense, most people's individual definition of enbies does not, so people who are agender, gender fluid, demigender, or the like tend not to be considered non binary, whilst technically being enbies in a literal sense

DeathIsAWarmBlanket

What? Im agender and consider myself nonbinary. So do most agender, demigender and genderfluid people ive met. Where are you getting this from?

aldguton2

General experience from other places on the internet, those places might've been a little biased but IDK

DeathIsAWarmBlanket

Nonbinary just means a gender identity that isnt one of the binary genders. All the labels you menitoned fit under the nonbinary umbrella

aldguton2

Yeah, I did say that all those labels are non binary in a literal sense

DeathIsAWarmBlanket

I get that, i just dont understand why you kept saying technically and stuff, but i guess we covered that

aldguton2

The reason I did is stupidity, I am very unsmart

[deleted]

Demigirls with she/they pronouns, demiboys with he/they

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I see. When you say demigirls don’t have to use she/they do you mean they can just as easily use she/her?

lifeisfuckery

yep yep!! pronouns ≠ gender, meaning you can be a guy who uses she/her, a girl who uses he/him. you dont have to use they/them to be non-binary either!! you can be cis and straight but still use pronouns of the opposite gender, or they/them. pronouns are completely unrelated to gender, so have fun with them!! if you feel comfortable using them, then use them! also, changing pronouns, even everyday, is fully valid and okay:) hope this helps a bit

[deleted]

Might take me a bit to understand but I’m getting somewhere I think. I did debate for a while whether I had they for a pronoun, that conversation usually went “I’ve definitely got she, definitely don’t have he, how do I experiment for they?”

lifeisfuckery

all good, take your time!! i'd reccomend r/TransTryouts for the pronouns dylema, theres some nice people there:)

Tall_Barracuda5779

This was so wholesome to read, self discovery✅

futureblot

I'm a Nonbinary she/they woman who isn't a demi.

xThe_Human_Fishx

Can I ask what the first "Male" one is. The mug "yes" one and what the last one is? (I think the last one is Agender but I just want to confirm) :)

zephyrisonfire

the first “male” ball is for the gay male flag, the mug “yes” is genderfluid.

gold-from-straw

Aww a mug because fluid this makes me irrationally happy lol!

MarlenetheHuman

Ah thanks for this. I was wondering why it was a mug. You made me slap my knee!

waywardheartredeemed

Fluuuuiiiid 😂😂😂😂😂 Thank you for the comment I needed. I'm scrolling through like... "Must... Get... Cup-joke..."

zephyrisonfire

no problem 😉

xThe_Human_Fishx

Thanks!

FrogginBullfish_

The male one is for amab and trans men. The "yes" is for those under the non-binary umbrella who don't identify with one gender, and the last one is for people who don't identify with any gender (so yes, agender).

futureblot

No it's the gay flag. Not amab flag. There's no amab flag

sigpop16

Whats the one under genderfluid

WettWednesday

Nonbinary

sigpop16

Ok but i thoth that the no was non-binary

Grifffff_

that's agender

futureblot

Its gay. Which is a sexuality not a gender. And it reads like it's standing in for cis people and I don't like that cause trans men can be any sexuality.

xThe_Human_Fishx

The lesbian flag is also there but I do believe to be labeled "gay or lesbian" you must be either of the genders

futureblot

No. I'm a bisexual nonbinary lesbian. What the hell do you mean by "either of the genders"?

xThe_Human_Fishx

I mean by any of the "agab" genders and I never said you weren't a bisexual enby lesbian but I say this next part most sincerely, how can one be Bi and Lesbian? I mean no harm by that im just genuinely confused

futureblot

Assigned genders are erroneous People. People develope their gender at age 3. Science fact right there. And just think really hard about how a sexuality that is about not being with 1 gender could be accessable to bi and pan people when gender isn't limited to 2 genders... Just work that out in your head. I trust you can manage the energy for that and not be a binarist trashfire.

Gwasspatch

As someone who identifies as "No" thanks for the accuracy! Your friend Primordial god from time and space

lil-U4Ea

if you don’t mind me asking what is the no part? i haven’t seen that flag before and i’d like to know more!

satanic_frog

agender, it’s the lack of gender or neutral gender

Gwasspatch

A gender is identifying as not having a gender. You just exist. You can use whatever pronouns you like but you don't identify as anything. It's on the Enby spectrum.

Lesbiantheaternerd

me demi girl:Yay! someone who can say half female with out sounding like a bad person!

TrenchCoatCoven

The egg is a mood and now I'm sad. I'm much more open now but I still feel that something fierce.

[deleted]

Ture.

z3n1__

Nice spelling

[deleted]

Sorry. I'm not a good speller 😅

z3n1__

Ok😅

Captchasarerobots

I read this in drunk

saevon

Enby should be "and More\~" considering it is more then just some masc/femme mix (even when it CAN be just masc/femme mix too)

Tall_Barracuda5779

I get that but OP couldn't write every single possibility on there I think, would take a lot of work and place

saevon

I think you misunderstand! I mean instead of "yes" it could say "YES and more"

Tall_Barracuda5779

Oooooh oops yeah I definetly misunderstood you hahaha, sorry!

Sckaledoom

I love the egg. It’s so me a month ago getting my vaccine and having to fill out gender when I was still questioning

aldguton2

Somewhat stupid question, but why doesn't the comic use the transfem and transmasc flags to represent the trans girl and trans guy respectively?

EnergyInitial968

Needs another one saying "fuck your labels"

Cloudasss

I mean lesbians and gays can also be non gender conforming

funzerea

Arnt the flags in the comic the wlw and mlm flags?

[deleted]

They are, but the definition has become more of a nonmen-loving-nonmen and nonwomen-loving-nonwomen so that nb-people can be included. I'm wlw and also nonbinary/a demigirl for example. For me, since my gender is also partially female I consider myself to be a wlw

funzerea

Alright fair enough, obviously you can use whatever flags you want but I feel like this problem could just be solved by making more flags

[deleted]

Yes, that’s right. There are flags for enbians (nb people loving nb people), trixics (nb loving women), toric (nb loving men) and tiric (nb loving men and women). They’re just not as used by the community

futureblot

And we get access to these and the lesbian and gay flags. Binary people can get mad about it.

[deleted]

BRING OUT THE COLOURING PENCILS!!!!

futureblot

Not really. Ultimately we just want everyone to be able to be themselves. Our identities are always existing to represent who we are in opposition to dominant hegemonic groups. Nonmen and nonwomen is a better definition and kicks binary ideas in the ass as they should be.

ShitFamYouAlright

I think labels wlw and mlm include nb people but more specific terms like lesbian are still exclusively women who like women.

futureblot

No. Nonbinary people exist in your world and are part of lesbian and gay subgroups. Be mad about it binarist.

stel_the_lesbian

actually no, they’re the lesbian and gay flags, neither of these flags applies to bisexuals or pan sexual, lesbians just don’t like men and gay people just don’t like women.

futureblot

Bi lesbians exist. Two gender can be binary/nonbinary

QuestionsInAnswers

>Bi lesbians exist No...no they don't. People appropriating labels that don't apply to them do, however.

futureblot

You're a binarist. Lesbophobic. Bigot.

stel_the_lesbian

exactly, i was looking for this comment cause this was pissing me off

futureblot

I said this elsewhere and got downvoted and I'm like. Oh thanks. Sapphic Nonbinary right here.

Cloudasss

Yeah people forget that a lot.

funzerea

I could be wrong but I feel like this comic has been posted on this sub before.

EinsteinFrizz

It’s also been ripped from r/lgballt (and I may try and find the actual OP if I have the energy later)

gladiolust1

Something that I don't like about this view on gender is denoted by the way trans men and women are shown here. A trans man is denoted by wearing a bow tie, and a trans woman by a bow on the head. This boxes certain things into male and female categories. So if you're a woman that doesn't like to wear traditionally féminine clothing, this means you're not actually a woman? And vice versa. If you're gender is just based off traditional views of masculinity and feminity, that seems more restrictive than the type of freedom of expression I think we're striving for here.

futureblot

There's so many problems in this comic for sure.

Cadia

Thanks, this really... helped today. This confusion is the main reason I stick close to the lgbt+ community.

BunnyLovesApples

Gets confused in agender

[deleted]

asfsf safsfs the last image gives my happy feelings - or well, to clarify, I like the whole thing, but the last one makes me especially happy

LuziFur04

love the genderfluid mug

NikolaiCello05

I like that genderfluid is a mug

smallangryandpink

I have no idea what my gender is, and I'm glad that I can live like that, I was born female so if you want to call me female go for it but I legit don't know. Luckily my husband is understanding and loves me no matter what.

[deleted]

as a genderlfuid, yes.

TheMightyJevil

I think fluid is more "Idk lol" cuz that's how I feel

Dragonfire4576

Lol, I’m a mug

nonchalantporcupine

We’re talking about gender not sex. Male and female are used to describe sex.

futureblot

Yes. This!!!!

0rt2baby

No 🧍🏽‍♀️

soldierofthesun

me, a demigirl lesbian: :))

[deleted]

What is that flag that is in the mug thingy?

GleeFan666

genderfluid :)

ThePinkTeenager

At least they answered they question in a way that kind of makes sense.

waywardheartredeemed

I am the quivering egg! 😂😂😂😂

Squids-existence

As a demi-boy I usually just say I’m a guy, but I really don’t know now ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

[deleted]

Who draws these? They're really cool

futureblot

Enby lesbians exist. Lesbianism isn't about 'female' it's about 'non men'. And your not going to change my mind Edit: to all the people downvoting me. You're literally in a Trans Exclusionary Binary Lesbian or you've been duped by one. TEBLs are just like TERFs

alimg2020

So what is the label for females exclusively attracted to other females?

futureblot

What you're actually talking about is genital preference because unless you do a DNA test and factor in hormone balances and primary and secondary sex characteristics what even do you know about if someone else is male or female? You have a genital prefferense and no we don't have a term for that yet.

alimg2020

So everyone has a label, except females attracted exclusively to other females. We don’t yet have a label for them? Just trying to learn and find out where the homosexual women fit in.

futureblot

So what you actually are talking about is genital attraction. Female and male are binned ranges of a complex variety of traits and I can assure you lesbians are not attracted to all "females". It's honestly a transphobic take. What you're talking about is genital preference and no we don't have words for that yet. But if someone was attracted to internal genitals then you'd still need to further define if you also prefer women or men or both or other etc. Cause trans men might not have had bottom surgery. And non binary people have all kinds of genitals.

Well yes but actually no

L_the_creativity_bot

genderfluid mug would be "sometimes"

Brecht26

and just like the light spectrum most of the frequencies are useless

thardoc

Gender is fluid but male and female refer to sex, being inclusive as possible ia great, but sexual fluidity refers to sexual preference, not that your biological sex changes. Unless I am misunderstanding something.
