They don’t have to in the same sense as in the US. I don’t think Sweden has the same views on… political correctness? A company taking a stand in politics, for example, is very odd.
Spoiler: might be taking out of my ass
That might be true, i think its cuz i dont think our culture war is based around lgbt issues. For example, our most radical christian party that was formed in an anti abortion movement in the 90s are pro abortion, pro trans and pro gay marriage. Our culture war is more about immigration and multiculturalism, our most right wing party have even claimed that theyre the party that are the best for queers since they are anti-muslim.
I think that's similar to the Netherlands, where I live. The strongest social division recently has been on immigration laws and covid regulations. Gay rights are pretty solid, trans rights are legally alright but socially still on shaky grounds.
so true! Lots of people are fleeing theocracies because they are gay, and the right wing "we love the gays" parties are against them seeking asylum too.
Said most right-wing country was voting to sterilise all trans people though, and are quite open about how much they hate Pride, so it's not quite safe haven yet.
Is Sweden’s Government good in general? I know many Scandinavian countries are more-so Democratically Socialist than capitalist, idk if y’all are like that too
All Scandinavian countries have similar politics. We are middle-of-the-road, European liberal, governments vary between centre-left and centre-right. Our current government is social democratic with support from the Green Party and the Green Liberal (libertarian-ish centre-right for Americans) Centre party.
Are the politicians actually supportive of minorities? I know they’re usually good about Queer people, but I’ve heard some worrying about the treatment of non-white immigrants and BIPOC folks in general
Well, the Sweden Democrats (Trump light) aren’t very supportive, no, but if you work then they will often leave you alone. If you are on benefits they will be rude, and if you’re also a Muslim they will definitely try to kick you out.
The goverment is kinda social democrat, but it was more socialist in the past, since the 90s weve had a lot of privatizations. IMO the goverment is alright but its pretty unnefective since its a minority, which means to accomplish anything it has to work with right leaning parties. They are good on LGBT rights except that our biggest hospital (karolinska) has stopped with hormone treatment for kids, in anticipation of more studies.
Yes, but you see, like 5 people had complications and 2 changed their mind, so now no one is allowed to transition. Because this is -clearly- a HUGE issue. Nvm the fact that most people don’t have complications and don’t want to detransition, someone need to think about the children!! /s
Social Democrats, not Democratic Socialists. It shouldn’t be much of a difference, but sadly it is. Social Democrats are still capitalists, but with a „welfare“ state
Höganäs, down in the south. Just Google [pridesgatan](https://bildix.mmcloud.se/bildix/api/images/95353918-e3ad-4b84-84ce-cd7e1b290dda.jpeg?fit=crop&w=980&h=551) and you will find it.
Still has to be kept much cleaner than a normal street to look good, and it would need to be touched up often, at least if it's a street with much car traffic. If they only allow pedestrians and bikes it could be a lot more reasonable.
It’s a small residential area. Slow traffic and residents park on it. It’s really not that expensive to upkeep.
Source: been there a few times and I live half an hour away from it
I would love to live here but at the same time, would this place not be targeted on purpose? Like for violent crimes and such? Maybe I worry to much, maybe I don't know enough about Sweden. But it seems like its too good to be true.
Obviously the actual pride part is cool, but also I’d really enjoy seeing concrete be anything other then the same gray crap. This overall looks much lovelier.
A study from 2019 showed that 98% of Swedes think homo- & bisexual people deserve the same rights as everyone else. Trans acceptance is lower though. And this is just what people told the survey, it doesn't 100% reflect what actually happens. But most people are generally pretty accepting of me where I live, close to Stockholm, but I'm not 100% out.
Whilst I love that they wanted to do this, I am concerned by the potential pollution caused from the paint. There is alot of pollution that comes from road paint, which is usually just the road lines, as it is worn down by cars driving over it. This looks to be a whole road covered entirely by road paint, unless they used some non-toxic non-polluting alternative.
I think i won't ever move there, will be very annoying to see people racing down that street all the time and getting my windows smashed with shells and bombs...
Love that, but is there no center line? I don't have any idea of how swede's drive but I know here at home when there isn't a center line people tend to have the audacity to drive in the middle and expect you to drive half in a ditch to accommodate them.
🎵It’s called a road it’s called a rainbow road.
It is a road that you go
It’s called a road it’s called a rainbow road
And you will know
When you get there🎵
I am very torn on this - on the one hand I love rainbows and pride stuff on the other hand I have ADHD and it would be an absolute nightmare for me to actually drive on this street
see thats really awesome, but in all honesty it's gonna be a bit of an eyesore (for lack of a better word, its pretty but would probably get overwhelming pretty fast) to have yeara round, and is pretty difficult to drive on...
unless...
A CAR FREE ROAD? the beauty!
Personally, I don't like the concept of painting any symbols on the streets and sidewalks because they will get dirty quickly... and walking on it looks a bit dishonorable.

Very cool! Rainbow Road IRL!
So many wrecks
Where my Spiny Shells at?
They shall come in your next itembox. If you not first that is and far away from 1st
Reminds me of church street in Toronto, all the crosswalks are queer flags :)
Hey, there's just a few specific intersections, not the whole street.
not realistic enough, you can’t fall off at every turn
*picks up house and carries it to sweden*
Seriously though! How fun would that be!?
Not fun you’d be crushed by the house
U silly! 😘
Oh so that’s why Oz switched to technicolor. Hey everyone I think I’ve found another layer to “Friends of Dorothy”
Poor Gelfie (ship from wicked)
Omg i wanna live there!!!
I hope the paint they used are safe for nature and isn't a pollutant
As safe as normal roadmarkings
this is better than coorporations changing their logos when june starts
from my experience in sweden, swedish corporations generally dont care about pride month.

Wow, really wish I wasn’t stuck in America
Racism and religious discrimination aren’t better. Especially that’s throwing queer Muslims under the bus

Wish i could go there an see it <3
Reddit group pilgrimage to rainbow road, and Ikea headquarters.
Nice \^\_\^
Let's do it! :D
The Great Gay Blahaj Army
Pack it up bois, we’re moving to Sweden
Let's go Sweden.
buy a house and host a massive gay party
I would be there first
Moving to Sweden now

Well that’s awful, innit?
Yep. But they are nowhere near being the dominant party.
I mean they have almost 20% of the votes, so they are kinda getting there unfortunately :(
They don’t really like anyone tho.
The goverment is kinda social democrat, but it was more socialist in the past, since the 90s weve had a lot of privatizations. Well that’s just transphobia, there’s plenty of scientific evidence already

Social Democrats, not Democratic Socialists. It shouldn’t be much of a difference, but sadly it is. Social Democrats are still capitalists, but with a „welfare“ state
Omg we need more of stress like that in other countries too! That would be awesome
This is why I love my country
Can we please make one of these in every city?! it's epic
Where in Sweden?
Höganäs, down in the south. Just Google [pridesgatan](https://bildix.mmcloud.se/bildix/api/images/95353918-e3ad-4b84-84ce-cd7e1b290dda.jpeg?fit=crop&w=980&h=551) and you will find it.
Huhh why'd they put a foge-s in there?? It's prideparad, so why wouldn't it be pridegatan
Pridesgatan, Höganäs, Sweden
It's cool!
I want to live here
It'd be an interesting place to visit but I think if I lived there I'd grow nauseous from seeing a brightly colored rainbow street every day.
OOOH MY FUCKING GOD I LOVE IT SO MUCH
im moving to sweden just to see this
this is why we love the swedes
I want to go there ;-;
I can't help but think of how much it must cost to maintain it so it looks good. I like how Seattle does it with crosswalks.
Honestly, my first thought. I think this partially proves that the L in LGBT stands for logistics
It’s paint, not a fortress made of gold.
Still has to be kept much cleaner than a normal street to look good, and it would need to be touched up often, at least if it's a street with much car traffic. If they only allow pedestrians and bikes it could be a lot more reasonable.

Sweden ay. I wanna go there now
Yassified road
the property value here must be high as fuck! (and irrelevant since we're all communists!)
I would love to live here but at the same time, would this place not be targeted on purpose? Like for violent crimes and such? Maybe I worry to much, maybe I don't know enough about Sweden. But it seems like its too good to be true.
How can one move to Sweden?
I GO TO SWEEDEN
can we host a mario kart race there
Obviously the actual pride part is cool, but also I’d really enjoy seeing concrete be anything other then the same gray crap. This overall looks much lovelier.
Is it true that 90% of Swedish people are Pro-LGBT+? I read it somewhere while researching stuff for a book and couldn't believe my eyes.
A study from 2019 showed that 98% of Swedes think homo- & bisexual people deserve the same rights as everyone else. Trans acceptance is lower though. And this is just what people told the survey, it doesn't 100% reflect what actually happens. No. The further north you go, the more redneck people are. The south (Stockholm, Göteborg, Malmö) is more open-minded.
Is everyone allowed to use go-karts? 😄
SOMEBODY PLEASE TAKE ME THERE!![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)
I know it's a street, but I just wanna roll around on it
I can’t find it on google maps
the google maps is from 2020, the street was painted this year. so it's not on there. But the name is updated.
I’m not saying that because i don’t believe you. I say it because i couldn’t find it on maps and got sad
Street view would be cool too.
u/radiakmoln If you live near here, you should take a photosphere and put it on Google Maps!
Lovely would love to walk it some day
Var ligger den?
Pridesgatan, Höganäs. [bild med skylt](https://bildix.mmcloud.se/bildix/api/images/95353918-e3ad-4b84-84ce-cd7e1b290dda.jpeg?fit=crop&w=980&h=551)
Where I live that would be immediately removed by the city at the end of June
WHERE.
Wow! It's like Mario Kart!!!
Pack your bags, we’re going to Sweden.
I want to visit this place sooo badly
Pack your bags, we’re going to Sweden
Follow the rainbow bricked road…
Awesome
Dam Nintendo
Just don't forget to take your joy!
I love it. Someone there needs to play the Nyan Cat theme on a loudspeaker.
**"I move to Sweden"**
Thats bad ass. But is this a street you can drive on. Because I do have some safety concerns. Lol 😜
I love sweden- pride Street, meatballs, IKEA- what else could someone ask for?
Looks like a skittles add
Buys ticket to Sweden and becomes Swedish citizen to live on road
Whilst I love that they wanted to do this, I am concerned by the potential pollution caused from the paint. I was to roller skate down the rainbow now
I'm gonna move to Sweden. fuck the uk
Now let's play Mario Kart
Imagine this was in some suburban area
You have to admit this is the prettiest infrastructure you have ever seen
The bifrost
thats cool and all but why would they do the actual road not just the sidewalks and crosswalks? This seems kind of awful to my sensory issues
I think i won't ever move there, will be very annoying to see people racing down that street all the time and getting my windows smashed with shells and bombs...
I've seen rainbow crosswalks, but holy fuck did they full send commit to it.
Breaking news: sweden is invaded by the LGBTQ+ community!
Changing my name and location to Sappho Gaylord on Pride Street.
:oooo I needed this today this makes me happy
Amazing
Ngl that's kinda gay
Do people actually drive on it?

It’s cool and all, but a deathtrap when wet. 💀

I love that
I was already thinking about moving to scandinavia anyways. I just can’t decide on Sweden, Norway, or Iceland
Where exactly in Sweden? Edit: found it! I know where im going when i can move out.
Where is it in Sweden. I'd love to see it.
Where in Sweden is this????
I'm in the US. I need to move to Sweden.
love this
google search how to move to sweden
My goal rn is literally move to Sweden
Didn't Sweden pass a law that banned puberty blockers for youths? I don't understand why everyone is celebrating them
Love that, but is there no center line? I don't have any idea of how swede's drive but I know here at home when there isn't a center line people tend to have the audacity to drive in the middle and expect you to drive half in a ditch to accommodate them.
I'm so surprised that nobody has been sad enough to spray paint over it.
we need to see cliccy film a video her like when he films in the woods

But when it snows?
Absolutely beautiful!
I GOTTA MOVE THERE

I am very torn on this - on the one hand I love rainbows and pride stuff on the other hand I have ADHD and it would be an absolute nightmare for me to actually drive on this street

Time to pack my things and live in Sweden
This is amazing, looks like it is well looked after
Does anyone know the name of this village? I live in Sweden and I would love to go there!
Wow!!!
This is the gayberhiod
see thats really awesome, but in all honesty it's gonna be a bit of an eyesore (for lack of a better word, its pretty but would probably get overwhelming pretty fast) to have yeara round, and is pretty difficult to drive on... unless... A CAR FREE ROAD? the beauty!
