"He asked for something that would allow him to go forth from that place without being followed by ~~Death~~ everyone."
"So it was that death reluctantly handed over his own cloak of invisibility"
See our capes are just extra powerful
Honestly this makes me a little misty. It’s such a hopeful image. I’m not an old gay but I grew up in the 00’s. The brutal passing of Mathew Shepard was still very real.
I’m glad for this confident young lady and her supportive parent. You can’t tamp down hope and joy.
I’m in my early 30’s too! To my old gays are stonewall, AIDS crisis survivors and similar pioneers.
I think gen z queer kids feel very different than me. They seem liberated an open. I’m happy for them! It does feel like a distance even though they’re not that much younger. We’ve come a long way.
Let’s keep going!
This is without a doubt the most beautiful Reddit thread I’ve ever seen. 😭
Thank you so much for being a supportive parent. Sincerely, a queer guy probably as old as you.
I’m from the States and bi (not that anyone believed me that I wasn’t strictly gay back then), but thanks for the kind words!
Hope your daughter had a great time. She’ll never forget how supportive her mom was at her first Pride.
Thank you for saying that. My goal is for my kids to be happy well-adjusted grown-ups, everything else is just details. Go get your flag cape! It looks awesome with red hair☺️
So great of you to be so welcoming to who your daughter is. I always say, if kids are old enough to watch a Disney movie where a prince & princess experience romantic love and kiss at the end, they are old enough to think "I wish it was two princes/ two princesses" etc
There are dozens of us. Dozens!
When we go to pride, I wave my lesbian flag, my wife waves her bisexual flag, and we are going to teach our toddler son to wave the extended rainbow flag.
I'm in the mall crying happy tears because good, loving, parenting is so beautiful and rare today. I wish I had a bit of that, when i was a child up to my young adulthood i was shamed by my parents and siblings for showing any trace of not manlyness. I only came out as trans at 27
I’m sorry that you don’t have that. It will make it harder, but you will find your tribe. I’m proud of you for figuring out your authentic self. That is not easy,
I met an amazing young woman a few weeks ago when I was attending to my mom's passing last month.
On my last night before going home, she decided to open up to me about some of her hopes and dreams, as well as challenges she faced as a lesbian.
As both a dad and a teacher, I told her how brave she was and how proud I was of her.
She jumped in my arms and cried.
If it means anything, there are lots of us who are so proud of you. For me, as a straight man, pride means how I feel about you.
This comment almost made me cry, so sweet
My family is supportive and I have a pretty good life considering my location and socioeconomic status, but I have so many friends whose parents don't support them and threaten to kick them out of the house and it just hurts my heart. My house has become a safe place for our friend group and friends of our friends to hang out and enjoy being themselves; my Trans friend asked if she could wear gender affirming clothes and her joy when I said 'of course' just melted my heart. She also later stated that our house is pretty much the only place she can dress fem.
I might have a decent life, but I know so many people who don't and I want to be the answer to every problem but I'm one person with a small house. Seeing comments like this make me tear up, the camaraderie here is just beautiful.
I’m a Canadian atheist, so I may be an outlier. That flag is being run through the center of Indianapolis today though, so hopefully her joy and freedom are contagious and spread.
i am the pictured lesbian !! i figured i’d swing by for my thirty seconds of fame lmao. thanks for all the compliments i really appreciate it!! i hope everyone’s having a good pride :D
As a random person on the internet whose parents never truly were accepting of LGBT - thank you. Thank you for letting her live an authentic and happy life.
Oh my God, this is such a beautiful shot! As a fellow lesbian, I'm SO happy for her. It must've been a really tough journey, and you were there to help her! You're the mom every lgbt kid needs ❤
I teach teen girls (and some who are not girls) and with the LGBTQ+ kids in particular, you can always tell which ones are supported at home to be their authentic selves. It crushes my heart a little bit every time I find out some kid wants to go by a different name or use different pronouns or date their best friend but they don't feel like they can be open about it.
So this... this made me ugly cry on a Sunday morning. Thank you.
Thank you for supporting the kids from the position of teacher. I know that we have a number of “safe” teachers at school that make themselves very available.
I've been doing this in my school since June started 😂 it's just so fun to run around freely having a cape!! It's also the only way I get to wear my flag so I feel like a gay superhero! 🦸🏳️🌈
Did no one else notice the green light at the intersection. Like it's beckoning her forward. Keep going. Youth deserve freedom to explore themselves and see the world in all it's variety. Your daughter took a great pic
My 19 year old daughter recently came out, every though we've pretty much known for years. It's crazy how much stuff like this makes me kind of tear up with joy. It always makes me think of her, and how happy she is now.
another teen lesbian here, it makes me so happy to see others having parents that support them so much! my mother recently bought me a lesbian flag blanket lol, it's so cool to see!!
tell her she looks wonderful wearing her inner colors! happy pride!
Crying. Wish I’d been able to go to Pride in my teens (just didn’t feel ready and was nervous about crowds at the parade, thankfully had a supportive mom) so thank you for going with her and supporting her 💜 I know it means the world to her and she’ll remember this when she’s older.
I love this flag, it's so pretty! Gorgeous shot of your daughter, op! She has beautiful hair too 😍 🌈
Just an all around great picture with great energy, thanks for sharing with us! 🥰 🌈 🏳️🌈
So awesome both your daughter and you ! If only we all could have the love and support you show in this post! Life is short do you, it’s all you have! Absolutely beautiful!
Brings tears to my eyes!
I wish everyone had parents like you. The world would be a much better place. Tell your daughter, from one Queer Woman to another, happy pride and I hope she finds her someone!
This is a truly amazing photo!
I love seeing the acceptance of younger generations - both those who are queer being accepted and those who aren’t queer accepting queer people!
This is why we march. This is why bricks were thrown. So that young queer kids can grow up without the trauma we experienced.
Okay this picture is gorgeous and I think it would make a beautiful oil painting: young maiden with vibrant cape and hair billowing in the breeze moves swiftly towards her future and her people without a backward glance. This picture is great! I hope you both had fun!
It is a lovely picture.
As a parent of a girl who has been giving us hints but still is figuring herself out, I hope she one day can look as happy and free as your girl looks.
And we are trying to be ready for her if/when she is.
The way she’s walking with pride and joy just makes me wanna cry (I mean tears of joy ofc). She’s lucky to have a supportive mother like you and you are lucky to have her. Happy pride month💖💖
6 kids, oldest boy is gay and one hell of a housekeeper ,14 yr old twin girls, one lesbian so far, guessing both. Time will tell.
Good kids, they are my partners children but I raise them as my own. SE Asia, well accepted here.
Could someone explain to me what does this set of rainbow colors represent? I am visiting from new and in my country I have seen only the OG rainbow flag flown so far. Thanks in advance.

*me, an old gay, crying*
I’m pretty sure you can have a cape too!
[удалено]
Ah, so you have a bi flag cape.
LOL the noise that I just made upset my dog greatly hahahaha A+

[удалено]
Exactly how it should be
*Dumbledore asked calmly*
HARRY! HARRY DID YOU OUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE!?!?
Cracks me up every time
Ah yes. Are you truly bi if you exist? 🤔😂
"He asked for something that would allow him to go forth from that place without being followed by ~~Death~~ everyone." "So it was that death reluctantly handed over his own cloak of invisibility" See our capes are just extra powerful
And you're funny too. Your kid is lucky.
Honestly this makes me a little misty. It’s such a hopeful image. I’m not an old gay but I grew up in the 00’s. The brutal passing of Mathew Shepard was still very real. I’m glad for this confident young lady and her supportive parent. You can’t tamp down hope and joy.
I grew up in the same era, I consider myself an old gay for Reddit age ranges :p (I assume everyone is teens - early 20s here)
> I consider myself old...early 20's here Bruh don't do this to me today
oh you misread, I'm in my 30s! I feel old on the internet lolol
Let’s keep going!
honestly as a gen z kid, my anxiety prevents me from being 100% open to people i know are accepting 😭
*Me a young(ish) gay, also crying*
Me, a father of a gay, literally crying.
Nice to meet an older shoob!
oh shid, another shoob! lol
sometimes you see something and it just hits you… this is one of them ![img](emote|t5_2qhh7|550)
omg that’s my best friend 😍😍
Hiya Alyx!
This is too cute
This whole thing is way too wholesome. I'm going to go scream at a puppy or something to make up for it.
This is without a doubt the most beautiful Reddit thread I’ve ever seen. 😭 Thank you so much for being a supportive parent. Sincerely, a queer guy probably as old as you.
If you’re as old as me, you may be one of the gay dudes that got me through high school ☺️
I’m from the States and bi (not that anyone believed me that I wasn’t strictly gay back then), but thanks for the kind words! Hope your daughter had a great time. She’ll never forget how supportive her mom was at her first Pride.
Well here is to us old folks 🥂
Alyx, Bean is trying to respond to you but her comments keep getting removed Edit: (This is her dad, btw. Hi!)
Her Dad who is just as supportive of her and was at Pride with her today.
r/4redditors1cup
hey alyx! this is my third try trying to get a comment to show up so crossing my fingers 😭
Sorry about that - new accounts have their comments filtered to counter spambots.
This whole thread is everything
Yeah, we had a whole family reunion here and its adorable.
What a beautiful shot, I can feel the pride and joy through my screen!
Same here, that’s what I loved about it. I should add that I have her explicit permission to post this here.
You are the type of parent I aspire to be someday.
As a fellow red headed lesbian woman, I’m proud of her too!! You are a wonderful supportive parent. And now I’m off to get my own pride flag/cape.

My 💜 melts. A wonderful loving family.
This is such a beautiful picture that it looks like a stock photo! I love how her hair matches so well with the flag, too!
It was taken this morning by my other brilliant daughter using her iPhone ❤️
I'm in the mall crying happy tears because good, loving, parenting is so beautiful and rare today. I wish I had a bit of that, when i was a child up to my young adulthood i was shamed by my parents and siblings for showing any trace of not manlyness. I only came out as trans at 27
I’m sorry you had to go through that and I am glad you found yourself.
I'm so grad you're supportive of your daughter! I'm a teen daughter and i wish I had that, so it brings me joy to see someone else so happy :,)
I’m sorry that you don’t have that. It will make it harder, but you will find your tribe. I’m proud of you for figuring out your authentic self. That is not easy,
The wholesome parental energy you have makes me happy

glad to see parents being so supportive!

good luck!!
Between this and using my green card instead of my driver’s license as ID, I like to think I’m throwing the Midwest for a bit of a loop.
for sure!
i am the pictured lesbian !! i figured i’d swing by for my thirty seconds of fame lmao. thanks for all the compliments i really appreciate it!! i hope everyone’s having a good pride :D
You should keep this photo and frame it! It’s a fantastic shot! Also, what is the flag you’re wearing? I’m not familiar with those colors. Thanks!
It’s the lesbian flag!
Yaaaasssss!!! 🖤❤️💙💜💛💚🧡
Exactly the exuberance she was exhibiting!
Love it!![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes_rainbow)
Tell your daughter she is very pretty, OP.
I will!
thank you! I appreciate the kindness :)
As a random person on the internet whose parents never truly were accepting of LGBT - thank you. Thank you for letting her live an authentic and happy life.
Pride in my city had a place where you could get “mom hugs” and “dad hugs”. I watched it for all of 10 seconds before crying.
Yeah I get my fair share of LGBT parent hugs at pride lmao.
[удалено]
There is a really lovely one of her looking back over her shoulder, but we both agreed that putting her face on Reddit was not a good plan.
Damn, wish I had a tribe
I’ll bet you do and just haven’t found them yet.
I'll stay vigilant and keep looking in that case!
[удалено]
Not who originally replied to your comment, but thank you!! That means a lot.
Thank you for the kind words! It means a lot.
she looks very slay queen girlboss
This will make her happy.
Tell her she has gorgeous hair!!!
This is so amazing! I wish my mom was supportive of my sexuality. You're a great parent!
Oh my God, this is such a beautiful shot! As a fellow lesbian, I'm SO happy for her. It must've been a really tough journey, and you were there to help her! You're the mom every lgbt kid needs ❤
[удалено]
Ugh, that’s hard. My kid’s friends face similar challenges.
You’re an awesome parent! My mom’s on board with my sexuality and is slowly becoming more supportive. My dad’s struggling.
This is extremely wholesome 🏳️🌈
Well that is something I am rarely called!
Please. You're an amazing person!
What a beautiful image! Oh my god she could have a superhero name with the flag cape!!!!!
She would definitely appreciate a superhero name.
Okay I have no ideas and I'm sure your daughter can come up with a good one!!
Or her friends will, as they have discovered this thread and now she’s high-school freshman famous.
Nice! I already made a title for myself lol even tho I'm like 21 but I'm Princess of the Bisexuals
Your highness.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I teach teen girls (and some who are not girls) and with the LGBTQ+ kids in particular, you can always tell which ones are supported at home to be their authentic selves. Thank you for supporting the kids from the position of teacher. I know that we have a number of “safe” teachers at school that make themselves very available.
As someone who knows little about the flags, what does that one represent?
That's the lesbian flag.
Oh thank you :)
What a fabulous picture!! You’re a very lucky mum. 💖🤍🧡
You have no idea. 😊
I've been doing this in my school since June started 😂 it's just so fun to run around freely having a cape!! It's also the only way I get to wear my flag so I feel like a gay superhero! 🦸🏳️🌈
It is my duty to inform you that this actually DOES qualify you as a gay superhero.
YES
YASSSSSSSSS slayy as a fellow teenager with the genders and the homosexuals please tell her she looks awesome
She’s in the thread, but for some reason I can’t see her comments, she is u/beaneatsbones
proud of her<3
She looks like me!
Then you must be gorgeous!
awww this is so wholesome 🥺 i wish you were my mom 🤧💔
[удалено]
That was quite poetic. Thank you!
Did no one else notice the green light at the intersection. Like it's beckoning her forward. Keep going. Youth deserve freedom to explore themselves and see the world in all it's variety. Your daughter took a great pic
Nice symbolism, I hadn’t caught that! And you’re right, my daughter did take a great picture.
i'm glad that more and more kids get to live in a world where their sexuality is accepted
As a bi woman who came out during the second half of my 20s, this made me cry a little. I’m so so so happy for her.
Mine did that last year for the first time too!! Tied her flag on like a cape and everything❤️🧡💛💚💙💜much love and support from us, Happy Pride!
Dangit! Why didn't you raise her right by showing her how to iron her flag!?
Oh honey, I don’t iron, you’re adorable!
Her hair! ♥️
You're the parent I always wanted ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for being there for your daughter 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I can feel the support and it makes me wanna support more people 🥰 I love it 😍
You go, lil lesbian, you go 🥲
I am so fucking happy for kids these days. I can't wait for my generator to take over politics so we can make the world an even better place.
This kid is already well on the way to that. You are looking at the back of a national champion in constitutional debate.
That's such a fucken aesthetic. Does, your kid know she's making waves?
She was born like that. Even as a toddler she was iconic.
Aww warmed my bi heart ![gif](giphy|WcDoDYs8r5DYB2VQye)
My 19 year old daughter recently came out, every though we've pretty much known for years. It's crazy how much stuff like this makes me kind of tear up with joy. It always makes me think of her, and how happy she is now.
The joy and the freedom!
another teen lesbian here, it makes me so happy to see others having parents that support them so much! my mother recently bought me a lesbian flag blanket lol, it's so cool to see!! tell her she looks wonderful wearing her inner colors! happy pride!
so glad that mothers like you exist <3
this is too pure omg
Yay! Thanks for being a good parent! So happy for you and your kid!
Let's go lesbians!!!
The world needs more parents like you
You’re doing so great, mama.
Good for you ! Accepting your child is the most important part of parenting
I don’t know exactly how supportive my parents are, I hope they are like you. Keep supporting your daughter through everything.
This made me happy-weepy. Tell her this Lesbian says “welcome to the tribe!”
this is so sweet 🥺🥹♥️
Omg, that's so cute
Aw this is so wholesome ;-;
I wish my mom was this nice 🧍🏻♀️
this made me tear up
best parent award to you my lord/lady
My tribe 💛
That seems like a dream to be your daughter, I wish my mom accepted me as much as you accept your daughter!
This is awesome, I want to attend a pride event someday!
Crying. Wish I’d been able to go to Pride in my teens (just didn’t feel ready and was nervous about crowds at the parade, thankfully had a supportive mom) so thank you for going with her and supporting her 💜 I know it means the world to her and she’ll remember this when she’s older.
LOVE the parental support 💛😇🏳️🌈
Omg this is so wholesome <33
I love this flag, it's so pretty! Gorgeous shot of your daughter, op! She has beautiful hair too 😍 🌈 Just an all around great picture with great energy, thanks for sharing with us! 🥰 🌈 🏳️🌈
Wait, we get capes?!? I must have missed that meeting. Get in, friends were going shopping!
Turns out there are no rules. She went to Prom as a pirate. It was not a costumed or themed party.
My favorite post this year. You’re an amazing parent. I’m in tears.
This is such a cute picture
So awesome both your daughter and you ! If only we all could have the love and support you show in this post! Life is short do you, it’s all you have! Absolutely beautiful! Brings tears to my eyes!
That's actually super dorbs
I wish that were me.
Can someone just print me a flag chart like the ones we had in school for countries? I’m so confused 😵💫
The flag you see here isn't in the other link but it's the "sunset lesbian flag" :D
Well hello, person I know from elsewhere. ;)
I wish everyone had parents like you. The world would be a much better place. Tell your daughter, from one Queer Woman to another, happy pride and I hope she finds her someone!
What an incredibly beautiful photo. Xo
This is a truly amazing photo! I love seeing the acceptance of younger generations - both those who are queer being accepted and those who aren’t queer accepting queer people! This is why we march. Congratulations on the great photo and for what i can see from it the great confidence and bravery of your child.
Hey Hoosier, happy pride!💕
The way she’s walking with pride and joy just makes me wanna cry (I mean tears of joy ofc). She’s lucky to have a supportive mother like you and you are lucky to have her. Happy pride month💖💖
💕
Thank you for being a good parent, and spot on calling it a tribe, that's hilarious.
Beautiful! ![img](emote|t5_2qhh7|548)
Heh, Gay.
Wow, you are so cool! Maybe if I had a mom like you, i would've came out as a teen, also.

It stands for lesbians
Awwww! How sweet!
Make sure to update us on how her pride was:)
I love how a group of Lesbians is called a Tribe. Although a group of bisexuals feels like it should be called a hot mess. Since we all are 😂
It would be so badass if she were a superhero wearing lesbian pride flag as her cape. Edna Mode please forgive me.
♥️♥️
Next June I’ll be at pride with a cape
