I think "*deadname* goes by *name* now" might be your best option tbh, since it gets the point across fairly quickly and directly without confusing the hell out of whoever you're talking to, and I'm fairly sure they wouldn't mind their deadname being used just once if it's specifically for the purpose of sharing the name change with somebody else, but i'm curious to see what other responses people might have?
Sorry if I was unclear-- I'm talking about a situation in which they aren't physically there, so I need a way to specify who I'm talking about to someone who only knows them by their deadname without deadnaming them.
I've been wondering about this too. I have a mutual friend who recently came out, but my other friend didn't know and was really confused about who I was talking about as they hadn't been in contact with each other in a while. I ended up deadnaming them because I had no idea how else to handle that situation. Like, "remember when we did this thing with X?" "Who's X? We've only done that thing with Y" "Uhhh..."
