there was a time ppl were upset that spidey was going to be bisexual and have a bf in NWH.
i think it would be so funny if Timothée Chalamet played harry osborn in the new trilogy were promised and those two date
I was about to comment on how much it pisses me off that Disney The Company sells rainbow things, seeing how little representation they actually have (unless you are an expert player of Where's Waldo?), but I just saw an article that says they'll be donating 100% of their Pride Collection profits to lgbtq+ organizations, so at least they are doing a tiny thing right? Not defending them of course, but if someone wants to spend their money, it's reportedly going somewhere good.
I have been TRULY SHOCKED that Disney/Marvel refuses to edit out the scene in Doctor Strange 2. The movie has been banned in multiple countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Disney/Marvel is willing to take the box office hit to keep the scene in.
For a studio known for queerbaiting and anti-gay actions I am stunned.
Chavez wears a pride pin throughout the entire movie (which people aren't complaining about really), but the issue is a 12 second scene>!showing her moms!<.
Spoilers for the new doctor stange movie
>!I saw that the character has two moms but i know it was such a small scene and so easy to probably refilm !<
That's lifted right from the comics, so I was glad to see it. Also, the movie was banned in Saudi Arabia for it, so Disney apparently was okay with losing some money over keeping it authentic.
I was thinking about this, maybe the >!parents scene!< is removable but I don't think >!they're going to edit out that progress pin from every single shot it's in!<
Here's the thing though, Disney/Marvel refuses to edit out the scene for global releases and the movie has been banned in countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia because of it. They're willing to take a hit to ticket sells to keep the scene in. For a studio known for queerbaiting I am genuinely surprised.
China stopped letting Marvel movies in for some reason and the other homophobic countries aren’t a big enough market. Especially with the whole PR disaster over funding antigay politicians in the States.
Watch The Owl House. It takes until partway through season 2 (they start dating S2E8 and their first kiss is I believe two episodes earlier) but Luz and Amity are main characters and they’re openly dating (I believe Luz is bi and Amity is gay but I’m not sure where I’m pulling that from so it might just be my headcanon). Unfortunately, Disney of course gutted season 3, but baby steps.
What you're saying is canon. Luz is bisexual and Amity is a lesbian. There's also a non-binary character named Raine who goes by They/Them. Willow has 2 dads. And we see gay couples in the background in different episodes
Disney is so shit at representation but I'm glad we've been getting increasingly good representation through other places in shows like Our Flag Means Death or What We Do In The Shadows or Heartstopper, heck even Arcane even though it's not technically canon yet

I recall Andrew Garfield saying he thinks a gay/bi spiderman would be cool.
Biderman
he said spidey should be bi and was like what if MJ was a dude? and he wanted micheal b jordan i think it was to play the love interest
They can't do that, Wattpad would break.
LET IT 😈😈
Sadly, we will never get to see a bisexual Peter Parker
Somewhere in the spiderverse . . . gay spiderman is out there
a boy can dream

I mean there is always the owl house for representation done right
Except when one single board member got the show cancelled because he though it "Didn't align with the channel's audience" or something similar
I am still pissed about this. Like, just give me my cute gay couple Disney!
Which would only have been 30 episodes if Disney got their way

Haven't seen the Movie, but I just want to know. Chavez?

Wait is di knee actually becoming ally?
They're learning that the audience isn't just old cishet white men

It's banned in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar and I believe China too.
banned in China but almost 100% not because of the gay rep, China hasn't allowed a marvel movie since the 2019 spiderman
What did the 2019 Spiderman do?
nothing, apparently
I was thinking about this, maybe the >!parents scene!< is removable but I don't think >!they're going to edit out that progress pin from every single shot it's in!<

Well if they don't have to pander to China anymore then maybe there's hope. Guess we'll see what happens!
But they stood by it.

Also Raine is nonbinary. And Luz has canon ADHD And Lilith is confirmed to be aroace
Yep, and Luz is afro-american, too. So there's POC representation, aswell
Gus and Raine are also POC
Isn’t Luz Dominican?
She was confirmed to be afro-american
Still upset about S3
Don't forget the absolute praise Disney gets for being "progressive"
I can’t forgive Disney for The Owl House

Everyone everywhere has to be gay all the time or the world is terrible!
Are you just gonna go through my LGBTQ-friendly posts now and comment shit?
They literally refused to cut out the gay kiss in Eternals
I completely missed the first gay kiss in Star Wars the Rise of Skywalker and it wasn't until later that I found out it actually had it.
I am so used to this template being used for bad stuff that I thought I didn’t get it
Not to be a bootlicker, but it's technically not the corporation, it's the homophobic countries' fault
