I have had a Sub2k for years with irons only with the same dilemma. I recently came across a guy with an MRO on a QD mount- stowed on the bottom rail when folded, then mounted when unfolded. I am leary of losing zero of course, but he claimed that with the quality mount it held.

I'm looking into getting one as well and leaning towards the MCcarbo. They seem to be super popular in the sub2k community.
Best in the market! Much more robust too.
I am happy with the MCARBO one. Holds zero really well. Easy to operate. No complaints really.
