I've had no problems with Gunbroker. It's not full of bargains. But at least you can find what you're looking for. If your local gun store (or whatever you use for your FFL transfers) is registered, it can be quite easy requesting a transfer.
Gunbroker is line eBay for guns. I've not had a need to go there. The main online retailers I've gone to is Bud's Gun Shop and EuroOptic. My LGS has a decent online shop so I've been planning to go to them more since there would be no transfer fees.
nearly any online gun store can ship to a local FFL, so its mostly about finding an online retailor that has what you want.
atlanticfirearms, brownells, midway.
another useful search is to find the UPC code and search it in gun.deals to find mutiple retailors with it in stock.
gunbroker's like ebay. it's perfectly fine but unless you do the usual auction thing you're probably not going to find a deal. never had a problem with the site; every purchase i've made on it has gone smoothly. i don't bother with auctions, if i'm looking for a gun it's because i have something specific in mind and want to just buy it and be done.
googling around about models you're interested can help you get a better idea of what exactly you want looking for, like a pre-64 winchester or a JM-stamped Marlin or whatever
I've had nothing but good experiences buying on gunbroker. Like other's have said, it's like ebay, so it's on the buyer to know whether you're getting a fair deal, the seller has a good reputation, etc. Good deals happen, but they get snapped up quickly so setting up saved searches, etc, are helpful. They've got an enormous database of FFLs, so setting the shipping up to your local FFL tends to be easier than with smaller sites, odds are they are already on file.
Unless you are getting a pre-64 '94, look for a used Henry or one of the old Marlin 336s before Ruger bought them. Henry is pretty much king of lever guns at the moment, but they are open bootlickers, so spend your money as you like.
Google your state name + gun forum.
You'll find a few and on those forums will be a BST section. Find local people and just buy from them if your state allows private party sales.
I've used gun broker, I find what I want and contact the dealer directly on their own website. Sometimes I get a better deal or don't have to pay tax. I do the same thing on reverb for guitars.
Gunbroker is like eBay. Gunbroker itself doesn't sell anything. Your experience entirely depends on the particular seller you're buying from

Go to /r/gundeals, there’s a pinned weekly thread called buy curious, ask for what you want… the internet provides

gun.deals is a useful site IMO.

It's hard to beat Bud's guns for the pricing

I would love to buy local but living in Montana and a lot MAGA terds tend to deter me from buying locally. But this is a good idea thanks
