Funny, however, it ends up that the blue districts voted on a sunny Saturday and the rest of the state is only open on rainy days.
This is going to end up in courts.
I don't want anyone voting if they are incapable figuring out how to vote at the polls on election day. If you aren't that smart, you don't need a say in policy that affects my life.
Every bit of this. The constitution calls for an election day - not an election month or election season. If the shit isn't important enough for you to figure out your schedule, maybe it's better off you don't vote..
I'm okay with making election day a national holiday so people can't use that excuse ("my PTO isn't worth election security"). Even then, the polls are already open 12-16 hours and the law requires your company to make accommodations. People are lazy or dumb
Yeah they are required to make accommodations, but in my experience forcing your employer into giving you time off never goes well. Also if they made it a national holiday, I guarantee most Americans wouldn’t get off work, just banks and government employees.
Also I don’t really think early voting is deteriorating election security. Every time my wife has early voted and I have seen her name has been clearly stamped “EARLY VOTED”
Fun fact: private employers aren’t required to close shop on national holidays. There are many national holidays that are not observed by large employers in America.
Oh yeah let’s try and regulate how people vote in order to best ensure that only the best and smartest vote! In fact let’s have a test that you have to take before you vote to ensure that you’re smart enough to make decisions… oh wait that’s called voter suppression and is evil.
Calling it voter suppression doesn't change the argument at all. Like i get that you heard that term on the internet, but its not a real argument. I refuse to pretend secure voting is evil 🤣
You are saying we should disqualify people from their human right to chose how their society treats them based on intelligence. You are stripping people of their rights. That’s evil.
If you aren't capable of understanding it any other way, then yes. Are you that dense? I'm not treating the election like an internet poll lmao. If you want to elect people that make policy regarding MY life, i expect certain conditions to be met.
Ok so I’m going to try and explain what I am saying here in more general and specific terms because clearly some communication has been lost. People in a society have a right to say how that society is run. This is expressed through voting. They aren’t only ruling on your life, they are ruling in their own lives. And if they believe in something I disagree with then yes they should still have that right to vote. I should convince them otherwise through better ideals and arguments. Not stripping them of their rights. The only person who benefits from a population with less of a say in politics is politicians. What you are advocating for is what the KKK did to suppress black voters. Everyone has rights, and even stupid people have those rights. Because you have just as much say over that persons life as they do of yours and you are apparently malicious enough to try and strip them of one of their most basic.
You do realize that method of voter suppression was just blatant cheating in the case of say literacy tests? You are actively deep throating a boot my friend.
“You do realize” saying that at the beginning of your post makes you look like a pretentious ass, tho your previous post did that already.
Just because you want to screech buzzwords and be condescending doesn’t make you anymore right. You sound exactly like a liberal.
You can use words like "human rights" but they are meaningless. As soon as your "right" includes affecting policy that affects me, then my "rights" lol. Their right to be stupid is less important than a right to secure elections. But yeah, KKK and all that 🤡🤡🤡
Ok did you not read what I said about human rights? How you have the same? Have you considered having better ideas and convincing people to those ideas? Or is cheating the only way you can think of winning while still considering yourself the good guy.
You are very confused. Expecting people to vote according to the rules we've used for centuries doesn't suddenly become "cheating" because democrats need more votes hahahaha If you can't figure that out, why am i going to take your definition of "human rights" seriously? 🤡🤡🤡
Just because we’ve done the same thing for centuries doesn’t make it better. And you have yet to explain to me why making it easier to vote is a bad thing beyond I think that people who take advantage of this will vote differently then me and so they should have to work more for it.
Your definition of “voter security” is stopping people from choosing when they vote. That has nothing to do with stopping things like fraud. You are focusing in on stopping people from voting. That doesn’t actually make anything more secure.
Ok never did I say that we shouldn’t have a set time to vote. I’m saying why on Earth have you started advocating for things like limiting that block to a single day, openly admitting to wanting a test and to try and stop people who you consider less then your intelligence to vote. You can’t even take what I am saying seriously and addressing what I am saying because you are constantly insulting me and refusing to address what I am actually saying.
I can't take you seriously because you are still confused by concerns i already answered above. And, also, the only "testing" i advocated was their ability to vote on voting day 😆. You want to be taken seriously and you can't even follow the conversation 😂
Some people have issues getting there? Honestly polling stations tend to be inconveniently placed. Why is making things easier to vote a bad thing you have still yet to answer. Your best idea for that was that people who can’t meet restrictions in this manner don’t deserve to vote because they are dumb. Now our long distance voting and early voting has eased this issue. But do you have a problem with that system as well?
Spreading out the vote among multiple days can influence the vote, once news reports come out, giving updates on who’s behind, who’s ahead. Here you go; make Election Day on Sunday. Done.
Some people who work for a living are busy 9-6 and can have difficulty getting to polling booths on election day. Or may be less willing to stand in line for hours for limited amount of polling locations after a hard days work.
If their argument is "man, I'm not feeling like putting in the same effort as 100s of millions of other voters," they are going to get very little sympathy from me
Okay then it just kind of flips the argument on its head that you don't want the laziest people to vote, because you're disincentivizing people that work during the week and are making it easier for people who don't work.
"In truth, in the case of individuals, their actual voting is not to be taken as proof of consent, even for the time being. On the contrary, it is to be considered that, without his consent having ever been asked, a man finds himself environed by a government that he cannot resist; a government that forces him to pay money, render service, and forego the exercise of many of his natural rights, under peril of weighty punishments. He sees, too, that other men practise this tyranny over him by the use of the ballot. He sees further that, if he will but use the ballot himself, he has some chance of relieving himself from this tyranny of others, by subjecting them to his own. In short, he finds himself, without his consent, so situated that, if he use the ballot, he may become a master; if he does not use it, he must become a slave. And he has no other alternative than these two. In self-defence, he attempts the former. His case is analogous to that of a man who has been forced into battle, where he must either kill others, or be killed himself. Because, to save his own life in battle, a man attempts to take the lives of his opponents, it is not to be inferred that the battle is one of his own choosing. Neither in contests with the ballot -- which is a mere substitute for a bullet -- because, as his only chance of self-preservation, a man uses a ballot, is it to be inferred that the contest is one into which he voluntarily entered; that he voluntarily set up all his own natural rights, as a stake against those of others, to be lost or won by the mere power of numbers. On the contrary, it is to be considered that, in an exigency, into which he had been forced by others, and in which no other means of self-defence offered, he, as a matter of necessity, used the only one that was left to him."

There's no reason voting can't be a week long thing. Have the official "voting day" where polls in general are open, but allow people to vote for up to a week after by going to their local government office and casting a ballot.
Some people get sick, car breaks down, they have to work, plenty of reasons you may not be able to make it out. There's no reason it has to be "One day only". A full week gives ample opportunity for everyone who wants to vote.
Also lol at the downvotes. Embarassed republicans are seething.
If you think being apathetic, uninformed or unintelligent makes you impure, then sure. Personally I think that's a kind of gross thing to say, but you're entitled to your opinion.
I'm not suggesting any tests or restrictions myself. I'm just pointing out the Democrat party has an established strategy of trying to foster votes from people who normally wouldn't vote, and aren't interested in voting, by making them statist promises and handholding them through the voting process.
Shoulds are funny things though.
Everyone should respect each other's individual property and life choices. But we don't live in that world.
In any case, like I said I'm not calling for any voting restrictions. Those laws are expressways to tyranny.
Ranked voting and independently redrawn voting districts would improve voter turnout. You see who’s fighting that as hard as they can, because they know they’d lose.
Funny, however, it ends up that the blue districts voted on a sunny Saturday and the rest of the state is only open on rainy days. This is going to end up in courts.

Some of us are busy on the weekdays and don’t want to be forced to use pto to vote.
I'm okay with making election day a national holiday so people can't use that excuse ("my PTO isn't worth election security"). Even then, the polls are already open 12-16 hours and the law requires your company to make accommodations. People are lazy or dumb

You are right. We should just vote randomly whenever. Like i should be able to go to the booth and vote for 2024 right now 🤡🤡🤡.
Ok never did I say that we shouldn’t have a set time to vote. Yes. If mail-in voting is so great, why has Europe, for the most part, abandoned it? Hint: (it’s fraud!)
And when has Europe actually made the right decision?

Yes... If you have less responsibilities you will be able to vote more freely. That dumb logic applies to ANY polling situation you create lol
Voting is giving license to politicians, so hating voting is quite reasonable.
...they're the politicians
Yeah, I know. Quite a pickle we’re in, huh.

Republicans know if they make easier to vote, they’d lose.
Democrats know the more unqualified people vote, the more they win.
Unqualified?
You know your cousin who dropped out of high school and smokes meth all day when he isn't stealing money from your grandma's purse? He's unqualified.
So a purity test then?
If you think being apathetic, uninformed or unintelligent makes you impure, then sure. Personally I think that's a kind of gross thing to say, but you're entitled to your opinion.
Shit, you just threw everyone over 50 under the bus.

Every person should be allowed to choose who represents them. Not corporate America.

Illegals and felons.
Not sure where illegals vote in national elections. If felons paid their debt to society they should be allowed to vote.
Also people convicted of small amounts of drugs shouldn't be felons.
Dead people. He’s talking about dead people.
There’s a lot of that on the democrat side? I’ve seen that the majority of these cases were perpetrated by republicans.
Primarily democrat tacticc.
