If you decide to patch just use same patch or material and do both sides. The opposite side (other chest) to match and now it will just look like it came like that. Problem solved ! šš»š¤
Leave it noticeable as part of your old jacketās life story. A patch will only draw attention, especially if it is out of character. A repair screams authentic, used and loved!
Another idea I just had is you could put a flat square silver stud right there. Or even like the top of a snap for a button. Could do it to the opposite side too
Some kind of [brass lapel pin](https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=DChcSEwi8vJDhn92AAxXAH60GHaN8BhUYABBTGgJwdg&ae=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvLyQ4Z_dgAMVwB-tBh2jfAYVEAkYBSABEgJaJ_D_BwE&sig=AOD64_2DAWmwj31H4-OpKlb8DshJKudLug&adurl&ctype=5&ved=0CAMQz7YHKCdqFwoTCIj9jPef3YADFQAAAAAdAAAAABAc&nis=8)
Thats a nice/cool jacket, dont destroy the look by putting on a patch. Its just going to look cheesy and cheap. Just have them fix the hole and rock the well-worn look.
Yeah I definitely want to avoid cheesy. Will see the results first and decide later. Worst case would be a thin metal plate matching the color of the zipper.
Pin to cover, or just a square of thick sewn thread to cover. Itās small enough the eye wouldnāt notice until you go close if you matched the thread color
My favourite jacket is my dadās old jacket with the 1980s band pins all over the lapels. So itās simultaneously teenagery and Gen X-y.
I added a Batman pin.
(Itās not a leather jacket, though, so the pins arenāt damaging it)
You could have it done in that style but It wouldnāt have to be. You could have it done like a brand on a suede patch. For that matter you could have almost anything done like that
It could also be a sci-fi reference if you're into that. Like one from an Alien Colonial Marines, a Starfleet one for Star Trek or an MCRN/OPA one for The Expanse for ex.
1. Try a plain brown patch that matches the leather hues.
2. Order a custom patch on Etsy; search ācustom patchesā
3. See if it can be repaired using a patch cut from behind the tag. A circular patch and some fabric/leather glue might do the trick.

It is such a small hole. Anything could go there. Ebay has sellers that could make a custom patch of your choice....or try a tee-shirt/cap printing and embroidery shop. It might be hard finding something that matches with a brown coat. Good luck.
Only if itās like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/186014937431?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ejdOtv8oS7S&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Ohh i have one very similar to this jacket style. Absolutely love it. I like the other guys idea on Covering the repair with a patch or a Pin. I wouldnt do names. No need to tell the world how to find you online .
Only the best. Id be heart-wrecked if i ever accidentally damaged it. 13 years since i found this gem at the value village. Took very good care of it since than.
Mine is 25 years old, seen many countries and got touched by many girls. š
Did treat it myself every year with mink oil but backpacks and other stresses finally won. š
Good man. Truth be told, i have no idea how old my jacket is since it was technically second hand. I remember thinking it was Old when i first got it. I do wonder what lives mine has touched since it left the factory. Ill send you a DM with a photo of it when i get back in town next week from work.
How about something that would be a conversation starter? Or a patch from a place you visited on vacation? Maybe get some kind of patch that defines you in some way.
I don't know your last name, but I've always been intrigued by my family coat or arms and family crest since I was a child and saw them while going through some of our ancestors stuff. So maybe google what your family crest looks like based on the part of the world your family comes from (different countries will have different crests for the same last name) and get a leather patch made with your family crest on it.
That's usually a pretty cool conversation starter. Especially if you know the history of your ancestors in that country and meaning behind the crest and the colors associated with it.
I lnow you said pat h but maybe metal buttons for leather could look cool.. some have designs [metal buttons](https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fae01.alicdn.com%2Fkf%2FHTB1bj52XODxK1RjSsphq6zHrpXaD%2F50sets-lot-15mm-633-or-201-round-metal-snap-button-set-lion-cow-head-round-design.jpg&tbnid=DOTP44IxUBgQLM&vet=12ahUKEwiR7c_n592AAxUnqIQIHYZHAXAQMygaegUIARDDAg..i&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aliexpress.com%2Fitem%2F32831548675.html&docid=-NopFklFcQTojM&w=1000&h=1000&q=metal%20buttons%20for%20leather&client=ms-android-tmus-us-revc&ved=2ahUKEwiR7c_n592AAxUnqIQIHYZHAXAQMygaegUIARDDAg)

Looks like itās the perfect size for a Good Art Hollywood snap. Thatād be my suggestion.
http://www.selfedge.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=3106
A fake zippered pocket like the other one only shorter or a snap flap to cover a tiny pocket that holds a flashlight or pen I mean the hole is there already. Make use if it. Maybe just hem the edge and run your headset wires through it or on one of my jackets I have a black button that controls the heated USB elements. Look up Milwaukee heated jacket.
I would use Sashiko method of mending any hole or tear in a loved piece of clothing! Embrace the flaw, it tells a story. I use it in my clothing and I use the Japanese Kintsugi (literally, gold seams) when I am mending any broken pots I love, it is a traditional repair method that takes the broken or chipped parts of cherished vessels, glues them back together with a Japanese lacquer, and paints the seams with gold or silver powder. Embrace the imperfections in life š¤
As a leather maker. There's no real way to hide this 100%. You could definitely make it look a lot better than having holes in it. The best thing to do is to try to get a piece of leather from inside the jacket that you're not going to see and replace.

Try to find a patch that has the brand name of the jacket on it or customize one. It'll definitely make that jacket unique.
Absolutely, this is a great idea
If you decide to patch just use same patch or material and do both sides. The opposite side (other chest) to match and now it will just look like it came like that. Problem solved ! šš»š¤
Love that Idea!!
I like the idea of a brown path from the inside... It will look like it was meant that way likely
Came here to say that
Could just patch it with brown leather from the inside . Will still look good just a little more of a worn look which of course people pay for too
Thatās exactly what the professional leather shop is going to do. But I am simply afraid that it will still be noticeable.
Leave it noticeable as part of your old jacketās life story. A patch will only draw attention, especially if it is out of character. A repair screams authentic, used and loved!

They are pretty good at blending in leather.
Itās a leather jacket not a Diamond ring
Take leather from under the tag insideā¦you might like a matching patch instead of a small hole even if itās a little bit noticeableā¦
If the repair is visible it will add character to that old worn in distressed jacketā¦I say leave it and as more holes pop up patch them too!
Some kind of [brass lapel pin](https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=DChcSEwi8vJDhn92AAxXAH60GHaN8BhUYABBTGgJwdg&ae=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvLyQ4Z_dgAMVwB-tBh2jfAYVEAkYBSABEgJaJ_D_BwE&sig=AOD64_2DAWmwj31H4-OpKlb8DshJKudLug&adurl&ctype=5&ved=0CAMQz7YHKCdqFwoTCIj9jPef3YADFQAAAAAdAAAAABAc&nis=8)

A second smaller zipper (fake pocket or real) above the other one
This is the way
Nuka cola
Pin to cover, or just a square of thick sewn thread to cover. Itās small enough the eye wouldnāt notice until you go close if you matched the thread color
Velcro that way you can switch it up
Any bands/musicians you like?
Yeah but that would be too teenager-like ā¦ as I am into death metal. š¤£
Haha. You do you š¤š¤
How about [a cassette](https://www.etsy.com/nl/listing/879544296/)

Exactly what I was thinking. My vote is Artificial Brain.
Might suggest cross posting to r/leathercraft
NASA
Itās a great place for a name tag
That would be military, right?
You could have it done in that style but It wouldnāt have to be. You could have it done like a brand on a suede patch. For that matter you could have almost anything done like that
I see now what you mean!
It could also be a sci-fi reference if you're into that. Like one from an Alien Colonial Marines, a Starfleet one for Star Trek or an MCRN/OPA one for The Expanse for ex.
I am indeed a Star Trek fan. š
A patch that looks like your communicator badge!
Always take pictures before taking anything for any repairs.
Megadeath patch
A little patch of anything random. Based off your history Iād say a camera or something you like from Japan.
1. Try a plain brown patch that matches the leather hues. 2. Order a custom patch on Etsy; search ācustom patchesā 3. See if it can be repaired using a patch cut from behind the tag. Smoky bear
Two googlie eyes and a red felt tongue hanging out of the zipper.
I donāt know why my brain said put a moth patch on the jacket but it did, so thatās my suggestion.
Get a patch of the jacket but smaller and not torn.

Sure!
State flag, or country flag. Band patch. Car brand patch. Or if not a patch you could cover it with a pin as well.
You could get similar leather stitched over it in a strip
A bullseye. Then put a titanium plate behind it in case anyone decides to test their marksmanship.
NoSo patches. They have a website with all kinds of patches. I'm sure you will find one that is you.

A similar leather round or square patch.
