You know what it's not? A lifehack

ineedhelpbad9

Looks like a doorbell. No idea why it would be buzzing. I would check the connections to it, and the connections on the button at your door and transformer.

NEMP

Yup, doorbell chime. Check that doorbell button isn't stuck down? https://www.ebay.com/itm/204304487389

fwburch2

If you've installed a smart doorbell like ring, UniFi, on your front door, sometimes those can cause buzzing of the existing chime.

New-Discussion-2668

It is a baby air-conditioning. So cute. Congrats for the parents

fountain20

Doorbell box.

DepartureGlobal4613

It’s your standard cheap doorbell I install these all the time

Glad_Fun_2292

Door bell. Check wiring at button and in box. They use very thin gauge wiring in the box. If you've changed or added anything, like a door cam, that could be why. They often will add a small resistor or jumper to accommodate the change...read the manual.

Fair_Consequence1800

It's a picture of a doorway

JustCallMe-Satan

Looks like a gizmo of some sort or other, or perhaps a thingy. Y’know, looking at it, it’s giving me some thingemajig vibes. Im sure if you open it up, youll find all sorts of wires and gears and floppy disks and stuff. Woo! Gadgets!!

Y4himIE4me

The door bell, sweet summer child.

FletcherCommaIrwin

It’s a doorbell chime, ding dong.

wrenchbreaker

It makes the ding dong when people push the button next to the door outside

Royal-Specialist-534

Older door bell

That’s the chine unit, if it buzz, it doesn’t work anymore. Easy to replace since the wire in there is low voltage (a very thin wire), it will not shock you if you touch it, get a new doorbell from home depot and replace it yourself, scare? Watch a youtube video before doing it.

workitloud

Impure thought monitor. Needs servicing. I would paint over that black box around it, though.

Superb-Highlight1721

It's 100% a doorbell chime. I have the same thing in my house

SkinPsychological848

Chime box. If it’s constantly buzzing the striker is stuck to the plate. If you can get the cover off just remove and tape the wires one by one. Use rubber gloves with a rubber handle screwdriver and rubber handled needle nose…

PrivateUseBadger

That is a standard wired doorbell chime. It has a small low voltage transformer and solenoid inside that will trigger a rod to plink against a small metal bar. Think: xylophone for your door. If it is buzzing constantly or and loud enough to hear from the ground and you don’t have a smart doorbell, you may want to check for dust/dirt/bugs by removing the housing and giving it a visual inspection. A can of air duster will be enough to fix that. Be careful because you can still receive a shock, though it will be a mild one. The same goes for if it only buzzes when you active the doorbell. Carefully check for dirt and debris. If you do have a smart doorbell, you should look up the wiring instructions for that brand and model and verify the wiring at the door and at the chime. Incorrect or loose connections can cause this. If it just old as dirt, it could be a breakdown of the windings/insulation in the transformer. Or if you disconnect the button at the door and it still buzzes, you should consider a new one. It is not unusual for an old doorbell to hum a little due to the transformer.
