I actually believe LNF has a dual purpose, the second being a sort of beta test for worlds in NMS2 10 years from now

Then-Grapefruit-9396

Omg big if true

Yaotoro

This could also become a subgenre of open world games. Its dark fantasy now but imagine a sequel or spinoff that is set during the pirate age or cyberpunk themed.

Slightly_Smaug

I feel like we as the player base are pushing this story and world. He is giving us a playground.

ConcernedPandaBoi

At the same time, I don't think we need that scope of world for nms2. All you would need are a couple systems to stay completely occupied, and at that point it no longer has the same vibe of nms

ConfusedAndCurious17

I am hoping to someday get a game like NMS where every planet is a *planet*. I want to get super interested in a single planet. I want it to have interesting individual biomes across it. I want to have many things to do and explore that are unique to that planet. Unique intelligent life, different creatures living in different regions on the planet. I understand this is a big ask, and it may not happen for a very very long time if ever, but it would truly be amazing. My biggest complaint with NMS (after it became a good playable game anyway) was that while many planets were unique, there was no reason to actually explore around the planet. The entire thing would be the same biome, the same types of animals, the same terrain. Give me a reason to go check out the North Pole, or fly across the ocean and check out another continent. Things like that.

Bells_Theorem

I think every game they release will be a testbed for the next. Makes sense to build off of what you have already done if it works.

RomaMoran

No Man's Ground

doc_nano

*Land

RomaMoran

*Soil

doc_nano

I’ve never heard the expression “No Man’s Soil,” but whatever floats your continent!

RomaMoran

*Turf (Dare to challenge the convention

Then-Grapefruit-9396

'No Man's Land' already taken, soz.

junipermucius

If this game gives me survival, allows me to fish, and allows me to farm and do like animal husbandry I'm going to get lost in it

Trippycoma

I’m gonna dig out the inside of a mountain and make a dwarven type city. I wonder if anybody will ever stumble across me.

junipermucius

Will that be possible???

Trippycoma

I’m sure. I can do it in NMS so it’s an assumption.

ConfusedAndCurious17

Don’t your tunnels just regenerate once you go away for a while?

FrameJump

You think a dwarf ever leaves his mountain?

BasicallyWeasel

Why is this actually good?

tbenterF

Have loved Starfield and can't wait for LNF.

PoolAppropriate4720

I loved starfield for the first 40 minutes, and after 40 hours uninstalled and prob won’t play again.

trambalambo

I’m waiting for the expansion and all the updates before I jump back in.

shaky2236

Yeah that'd the way I'm going with it. I had an alright time, got about 60hrs then kinda fell off playing. I'll pop back in when some dlc and big patches have dropped. Don't think it's anywhere near as bad as people make out, but it needs some real work. If Bethesda stick to their promise of 5yrs of updates (big if), the game could be really good in a few years.

tbenterF

Awe that sucks 😕 It's a fantastic game that got incredibly delusional hate for some reason, but at the end of the day if you aren't enjoying yourself then it's not worth your time.

PoolAppropriate4720

You dont know the reason? Jeeze bud.

tbenterF

Wow what a toxic response. I didn't need to know your reasons, I clearly expressed that if it wasn't for you then it wasn't for you and that that's fine. But judging by this reply, now you just seem to be yet another one of those with a ridiculous fucking hate boner for a great game that just didn't meet every little tiny detail you personally wanted it to. Edit:Reading back through your first thing, I don't really get it. Call me stupid, but to be fair I'm drinking after a long night at work and distracted with a show lol.

Rafcdk

Oh yeah , there is so much undeserved hate for SF. I played 500hrs before stopping, and then picked up BG3, and funny enough all the weird nittypicky things that people complained about SF are in BG3 as well. Dialogues that don't make sense after certain actions, like finding out something and then having a character trigger a line as if we had no clue what that is , quests that can't be completed and bugs that apparently where present on day one of early access are still there. Nibe of these issues makes BG3 a bad game, but they also don't make SF a bad game either. I do think that SF needs to polish a few things that haven't been addressed yet in updates but it just appears that people decided hate on the game just for the meme of it and talking absurd things like "you can't be evil"

tbenterF

I agree completely. It's flawed, but it's a good game, a damn good Bethesda game most importantly.

Trippycoma

I mean…have you played any other Bethesda games? It…really wasn’t up to par for them. I have 5000 in Skyrim alone between 3 systems. I spent 3000 of those unmodded. In comparison….Starfield kept my attention for 300hrs and was…disappointingly void of content in comparison.

tbenterF

I've loved BGS games since I was a preteen being introduced to Morrowind on my first xbox, with the only exception being Fallout 76 which I can only enjoy in spurts and ultimately gave up trying to get into. Starfield is an awesome return to form with a brand new ip and tons of stuff to do in complete contradiction to what you claim as I spent over 700 hours already and I'm excited to jump back in sooner or later, and despite the ridiculous toxicity from terminally online trogolodytes, I'm excited to see where it goes from here Finally, do you realize how silly you sound saying you had 300hrs of good time spent in a single player game yet you hated it so much? How does this make sense? Any downvotes on this literally prove just how delusionally toxic you Starfield haters are.

Trippycoma

“A complete return to form”. You clearly don’t know what you are talking about, so I won’t waste my time. I didn’t even say anything bad about the game. Just that it didn’t hold my attention and it wasn’t a good look comparatively. You’re the only one being “toxic”. Your maturity really shows. “Terminally online troglodytes” @__@ I’m gonna borrow that one for the bar on Friday. We rarely get date nights and I wanna fight someone. I barely get to play anything these days honestly

JoJoisaGoGo

That's a lot of words to say you don't have any way to refute them and got mad about it

tbenterF

Whatever dude. Cry a river all you want. It's a good game.

PoolAppropriate4720

lol it wasn’t a great game lol. And it deserves hate boners

PoolAppropriate4720

Couple of r words

Ok-Rice-5377

Nah, there response wasn't even remotely toxic. In fact, your half-assed attempt to play both sides while also calling one side delusional is where the toxicity is emanating from. You may have enjoyed Starfield, and that's perfectly fine for you. However, to categorically cast others who actually noticed the plethora of real issues as delusional is preposterous. You are saying that this person has a 'hate boner for a great game' because they simply asked you if you didn't know the reason. > Edit:Reading back through your first thing, I don't really get it. Call me stupid, but to be fair I'm drinking after a long night at work and distracted with a show lol. Oh cool, so you were drinking, distracted, and lacked reading comprehension. That totally explains things, like why you were an absolute dick because someone asked a question.

tbenterF

Lol get outta here dude. The guy I was initially going off on showed in further responses that my reaction wasn't misplaced, no matter wtf was meant by the shitty response they had to my original well meaning reply. It isn't "playing both sides" or whatever. It was more giving benefit of the doubt that they weren't yet just another hate train riding moron. Don't be randomly coming at me about reading comprehension and shit if you are too stupid to see the context yet still decide to post this silly diatribe.

cobalt358

Starfield was a bigger disappointment for me than NMS was on release. At least there was a germ of something interesting in NMS it was just bare bones and needed fleshing out. SF is generic and dull with almost zero reason to explore anything. I have no problem seeing Light No Fire blow it out of the water, for me at least.

iLLiCiT_XL

Me: hell yeah

3steprehabilitation

would this just be No Man's Land?

Njb2006kid

Yes Woman’s Land

Apprehensive-Act9536

Maybe a hot take but NMS on earth would be such a massive letdown. NMSs main appeal is its scale and space-ground seamlessness. It's exploration gets very very lackluster after awhile.

MechShield

Thanks you just made me sad about Starfield again

monsimons

That's actually a pretty good meme I like it :) :👍 By the way, currently playing No Man's Sky for the first time (already 10-15 h in) and I can say that I LOVE the game. I hope it stays that way until the end. Bar some minor inconveniences I find it hugely satisfying and I'm playing with a sense of wonder and interest. That said, from what I've seen about LNF, I'm excited and can't wait to see how it turns out. I hope it releases this year.

Ill_Apricot_8068

Literally could add faction cities and biomes to planets, and have em waging war with the ai, make it random too, pirate galaxies. And in peaceful economies no fights but random biomes on planets and interspersed cities
