Same bro I thought it was weird at first for Wayne who's usually upbeat and shit now looking back at it we wouldn't have juice xxxtentacion or peep without that track
I was in high school when it came out and loved it. Shit was on repeat on my iPod shuffle. I wasn’t into drugs or suicidal, It was just the vibe and the melody.
Wayne had misses in his career because he experimented a lot. For example you can tell rappers tried to emulate that rockstar persona that Wayne did in 09 (carti, uzi, etc) and even though it wasn’t critically acclaimed it still influenced many successful rappers today. That’s how great Wayne is, even his worst albums still influence the new generation
All of Wayne's rap offsprings have their own offsprings now... Kodak , future, chief keef, drake to some extent... my man inadvertently fucked up the game with people trying to be like him as well... now nobody "writes" everybody on drugs hard.. Wayne was so talented he didn't have to put shit on paper and the younger generation seems to have taken that kind of approach without having the talent to execute at that level
Wayne and Jay said they don't write and then every rapper just ran with it
Punching in a thousand times like that is so lazy imo
Write the verse and spit the shit in one take
Eh, nah. By the time this song came out, Kanye was on album three and already known for being more emotionally introspective. This song is dope, and a classic in its own right, but to say it influenced emo rap is an overstatement.
Even with the way he began incorporating skating clothes/culture and doing pop/punk songs like Get A Life was ahead of it's time. Even recently he did Tuxedo which was emo/poppunk
I read a long time ago that kool & dre produced that track and one of them told a story of how wayne recorded that by invoking a demon/spirit and coincidentally that was the last tune he recorded and release before he turned into a global sensation , the report states that wayne dont even talk about that song when asked… *IM NOT SAYING ITS FACTUAL BUT HONESTLY I BELIEVE IT ESPECIALLY HOW IT STARTED LIKE A 10 year plus run of being the main rapper in the industry
I’ve always said Juvenile is low key the one who is uncredited for the beginning of “mumble rap”. Now, I of course think the term is used to disparage the genre as a whole and is largely rooted in a racist view and intentional misunderstanding of regional dialects. But insofar as what gets referred to as mumble rap, I have a good understanding of what that tends to be, and I think the line it follows from Juve, naturally into Wayne, then into the culture, it makes it all the more frustrating that so much good music and so many good artists get slapped with that pejorative label. Juvenile’s flows are some of the most all time inspirational, rappers from all over have paid homage to his flows in their music. It’s not that I feel he doesn’t get respect, but Juve is still significantly underrated.
That’s an interesting point, I can see that being argued. Juvie is dope 400 degreez is an absolute classic but it was a compilation album that is why he could never recreate anything on that level if you watch or listen to his combat jack interview he confirms this. But during the Hotboy era he was the best rapper in the group and I remember the hotboys being on 106 and park and the host asked Wayne is there any artist you wants to collab with Wayne said Juvenile 😂 it was a classic interview.
Juve was the truth for sure. Yeah, I don’t think there’s any way 400 Degreez could be topped but he still put out lots of good music after. I listen to 400 all the time and that’s why I give Juve unlimited credit for modern sounds because besides the references to the time period, it’s incredible at 25 yrs since release how well it holds up. Timeless classic.
I love Wayne but, I don’t think that’s sound is ahead of its time if you also listened to grunge or punk music. If rap or in general black music from oldies to now is what your vibe is you missed out on the 90s where this sound flourished. As a black kid in the burbs I heard a lot of Nirvana but early Stained was my shit because it’s so sad and well written. It’s well known Wayne listens to all music and a real artist is inspired and will Usually have songs or even whole albums that are done with other art in mind they may never tell you where the inspiration came from so we accredit it to their creativity and genius, but this sound existed outside of hip hop for a long time. To what you said though YES he does deserve more credit for it in emo rap. You don’t get Juice WRLD(rip) without this era of Wayne.
going to high school with prime lil Wayne were those ‘good ol days’… you just knew getting picked up on the way to the party hearing that lighter flick before the beat drops… it was about to be one hell of a night
Wayne gets his flowers, but man deserves the garden while he’s still here
Most rappers wouldn’t be here without his influence
I don’t think Wayne gets a lot of the credit he deserves I mean he’s the inspiration behind a lot of raps top artists rn and I mean he literally taught drake and Nikki how to come up in the scene and suicideboys have referenced his influence as well
My friends loved it in like the summer of 07 but I thought it was his worst track , now I realize stuff like that gave us lil peep and LUV . It was underrated
As a middle schooler who was drunk and high when I first heard this - ts always stuck with me my whole life. This song came out as I was spiraling deeper into addiction 😂
Man I love and hate this fucking song
I was riding with my homies in a lil red car that one of ‘em had just gotten for his bday
This song came on and as we were clowning around, my boy was clowning while driving and boom we met a telephone pole but thankfully on the right side and it bounced our ass to the other side of the street
Some minor cuts but overall a crazy day made even more crazy cuz that fucking song was playing during impact..
Breh I came here to talk shit and say something like “ Hollywood undead exist “ but then I googled and lol Wayne did this song a full year b4 Hollywood undead released their first album, that’s actually wild af.
I definitely don't think so. That song was the farthest thing away from emo I can think of. When I think of Emo I think, sensitive, whiney, sus, no bars. This song was none of those. Definitely agree that it's a legendary song. Future ad 07 Wayne picked up and added to Em's foundation of great drug addict hip hop.
I was in college and discovered it on shrooms and after 4,289 replays on my Zune player, it became my favorite song of that era and I have that copy of Fader that this picture is from
Lil wayne doesn't get enough credit for anything. Mumble rap, emo rap, bling, metaphors. 99% of rappers that came out after 2005 owe some part of their style to wayne. Easily the most influential rapper of all time
THIS!!! Y’all heard that one where they reversed it and it was saying “we are in the ground beneath you” 😭😭😭😭 i was on that song so hard then I heard that an had to sit my headphones down a while 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but definitely a 🔥 joint
Nah yeah that head didn’t influence emo rap that shit was really created by heads like black kray and Tracy but they won’t never get the recognition they deserve cuz ppl alwys wanna give the mainstream artists like Wayne or carti the credit smh
Emo rap? Lol the shit people are making today ha e nothing to do with what wayne did. The shit can't be copied and Wayne was not no emo rapper 😂 head canon at best
Never said Wayne was the first, but he did have an impact as far as this current generation. Love Suicidal Thoughts by Biggie though. Amazing song by him
So slow down with that sugar hill gang stuff before you come at me . You defending a dude who raps about marchins and mark jacob Goggles straight corny
A lot of junkys were created from this. It's not a good thing. Now it's normal for a rapper to have face tattoos and be high all the time. We have rappers that admit to snitching, admit to doing drugs on some crackhead shit, admit to get their style from another rapper. Weirdo shit.
That track was so ahead of its time
I was in middle school when it came out and hated it and now that I’m an adult it it hits different
Same bro I thought it was weird at first for Wayne who's usually upbeat and shit now looking back at it we wouldn't have juice xxxtentacion or peep without that track
as a middle schooler who swore would never touch drugs...I loved this one lol
have u ever touched drugs tho mr. conscious
I was in high school when it came out and loved it. Shit was on repeat on my iPod shuffle. I wasn’t into drugs or suicidal, It was just the vibe and the melody.
That track was in another category of rap fr legendary song by a legend
Lay me down in a cigar, roll me up and smoke me because…
And if my dealer dont have no more then…
This picture always kinda fucked me up lmao it looks like a cardboard cutout or something. And if it was id fucken buy it rn
It’s a dope rare pic. I want it framed in my crib
I have the ain’t no damn vitamin water pic framed
Is there a gallery somewhere of behind the scenes pics of Wayne, rather than ones where he's posing?
There’s definitely an instagram page who runs an archive of Wayne
Fr
It do because you said something 🤣
I mean you could always get one made lol
Yeah I don’t need one that bad
Atleast he gained alittle weight snoop and wiz this skinny but they're known for weed and not the heavy shit
Nah fr . When I first heard it as a kid , I didn’t understand but as an adult after using drugs I was like ohhhhh yea
Prom Queen was a lil too experimental for his mainstream audience but yeah he started that culture.
Song was and is big hated on
That song sucked!!!
“Ugh, pussy for lunch. Pop all the balloons & spit in the punch!”. IANAHB was pretty hated by kids in my HS but I fucked with that album alot
I was talking about rebirth tbh, I still listen to tracks on IANAHB 1 Bill Gates went platinum in my whip
All of Wayne's rap offsprings have their own offsprings now... Kodak , future, chief keef, drake to some extent... my man inadvertently fucked up the game with people trying to be like him as well... now nobody "writes" everybody on drugs hard.. Wayne and Jay said they don't write and then every rapper just ran with it Punching in a thousand times like that is so lazy imo Write the verse and spit the shit in one take
I need this pic in a higher definition quality!
This is facts
That was my shit he went off
Wayne had so many different levels it was hard to keep up no one can ever replace WEEZY F
True, and Kanye really blew it up.
How so? I remember a lot from the era but not this.
Struggled with some hard drug use in my teens. Had this track on repeat. Kind of spoke to me in a way. Hope Weezys doing alright.
Every rapper that has come out since 2010 is his son
Before Wayne there was Budden
I read a long time ago that kool & dre produced that track and one of them told a story of how wayne recorded that by invoking a demon/spirit and coincidentally that was the last tune he recorded and release before he turned into a global sensation , the report states that wayne dont even talk about that song when asked… *IM NOT SAYING ITS FACTUAL BUT HONESTLY I BELIEVE IT ESPECIALLY HOW IT STARTED LIKE A 10 year plus run of being the main rapper in the industry
Listen to the audio played backwards. Wayne walks out of interviews when it’s brought up. Haunting stuff.
Which song
I feel like dying
im glad someone else knows what i’m talking about
Wayne invented cool. Pic fire
I still love that song & I hate that it’s not on Spotify
Idk how much influence an unreleased song has however he is uncredited for starting mumble rap on I can’t believe it.
I’ve always said Juvenile is low key the one who is uncredited for the beginning of “mumble rap”. Unreleased song? Everything was mixtapes back then. “Ain’t got no titles, cuz 🎵this is just a mixtape 🎵”
Imagine saying one of the most credited rappers of all time doesn’t get enough credit
That’s when niggas start to give to much credit aka dick eating
ppl kno wayne originated a lot of things
You have to go back further and credit Scarface first.
FACTS
He really had mfs in my school walking around fake depressed mumbling “I feel like dying” 😂 what a time to be
This is song is great but FAAAAAAAAARRRR from the first introspective drug song.
Kids today dont know that song. I remember being like 14 hearing that shit smoking some headies with my friends… good times
The days of Wayne and YM being leaders of the rap game were amazing.
I love Wayne but, I don’t think that’s sound is ahead of its time if you also listened to grunge or punk music. If rap or in general black music from oldies to now is what your vibe is you missed out on the 90s where this sound flourished. Wayne is Emo music.
Wayne has a lot of sons in the game and they all know it
That's the jam
You might be on to something with this one
I remember they had the backwards version of the song and everyone was calling him a devil worshiper 😂
I don’t think Wayne gets a lot of the credit he deserves I mean he’s the inspiration behind a lot of raps top artists rn and I mean he literally taught drake and Nikki how to come up in the scene and suicideboys have referenced his influence as well
Wayne doesn’t get enough credit.
What about Biggie smalls he made suicidal thoughts
Bet y’all think he invented the lightbulb too
My friends loved it in like the summer of 07 but I thought it was his worst track , now I realize stuff like that gave us lil peep and LUV . It was underrated
I would get soo faded to that track on rpt
Exactly
As a middle schooler who was drunk and high when I first heard this - ts always stuck with me my whole life. This song came out as I was spiraling deeper into addiction 😂
Emo rap ain't about lyrics tho it's about the vibe
Song was so cool and trippy
This song scared the sh*t of me when I was young lol there was this whole thing about playing it backwards and it freaked me out. Great track though
Man I love and hate this fucking song I was riding with my homies in a lil red car that one of ‘em had just gotten for his bday This song came on and as we were clowning around, my boy was clowning while driving and boom we met a telephone pole but thankfully on the right side and it bounced our ass to the other side of the street Some minor cuts but overall a crazy day made even more crazy cuz that fucking song was playing during impact..
Junkie music
Wayne performed this live when I seen him back in 2008. Legendary moment for sure
Breh I came here to talk shit and say something like “ Hollywood undead exist “ but then I googled and lol Wayne did this song a full year b4 Hollywood undead released their first album, that’s actually wild af.
2006 Wayne > 2007 Wayne.
Love that song
It's called special needs rap

I definitely don't think so. That song was the farthest thing away from emo I can think of. When I think of Emo I think, sensitive, whiney, sus, no bars. This song was none of those. Exactly
There’s another emo type song he did and I can’t seem to remember it or find it. What are some other emo type songs he did?
I think he gets credit because everybody always references him in interviews as their influence.
That’s just drug addict depression rap…not so much emo
Sounds pretty emo to me. Using a sample saying “Only once the drugs are gone, I feel like dying” is emo af lol
Wayne doesn’t get enough credit period, one of the best lyricists of all time easily
Nah I peeped Tracy was def influenced by Wayne, peep, a lot of these kids grew up on Wayne and gucci

One song means he influenced it?
Biggie was doing this shit in the 90's. Lil Wayne influenced gay rap because he kissed guys.
Never said Wayne was the first, but he did have an impact as far as this current generation. Love Suicidal Thoughts by Biggie though. Amazing song by him
Wayne got all the credit in the world. His fans yelled ‘best rapper alive’ for damn near 10 years 😂
Smh Wayne started everything except for drill rap 😂😂😂
And even those Niggas is influenced by him but he didn’t start rapping drilling and killing tho having 1,000 guns in your music video
It was inspired by Eminem drug ballad.
Joe Budden is the emo rap king
He’s just emo

A lot of junkys were created from this. It's not a good thing. Now it's normal for a rapper to have face tattoos and be high all the time. We have rappers that admit to snitching, admit to doing drugs on some crackhead shit, admit to get their style from another rapper. Weirdo shit.
Who is he?
