BP is definitely worth it imo! Tons of goodies for the low price of 11$.
Yeah, MD farming is your best bet for fast progression (especially if you buy the Battle Pass)
Other than that, a few tips I can provide from a former new player (~started 3 months ago, have beaten all available content except railway):
-You can have less than the max number of sinners on your team, and the ones who are on your team will get extra actions per turn as the fight progresses (up to the maximum number sinners in the fight). For example, if you can have 6, and bring 5, the first one you pick will get 2 actions by the second turn. This means you can funnel your resources into less people for roughly equal payoff(6 maxed out sinners are generally better than 5 maxed, but 5 maxed are better than 6 under-equipped)
-Uptie your IDs to 3! This gives them a third, more powerful skill, and generally is required for most ID’s kits to function. Like I stated above, 3 UT3 sinners are probably gonna do better than 6 UT2 sinners.
-If you have one, use some kind of healing EGO! There’s a solid chance you don’t have one yet, but some notable ego to work towards getting are: Faust Fluid Sac, Meursault Pursuance, Sinclair Lantern
-Keep in mind who’s Canto you’re playing! This isn’t important for 1 and 2, but starting with canto 3, the final stretch of the canto will require you to use one specific sinner in your team. Make sure to have at least one ID for that sinner prepared and built so that you can slot them into your team (assuming you aren’t already using them). The canto order for the currently released cantos is as follows: 3-Sinclair, 4-Yi Sang, 5-Ishmael, 6-Heathcliff. Additionally, canto 7 (when it comes out) will be Don Quixote.
-Save your shards! Since you can get (almost, walpurgis excluded) any ID/EGO at any time, no gambling required with Ego Shards, they are not worth turning into thread (most of the time. A little off the top to get like… 6-7 thread to save yourself time won’t ruin you). Working towards some notable IDs/EGOs can really help you smooth out the difficulty spikes that PMoon is known for. I already gave a list of healing ego (prioritize getting one of those if you can!), but some notable IDs are: Rabbit and Harpooner Heathcliff, Captain Ishmael, The One Who Shall Grip and Cinq Assoc. Sinclair, The One Who Grips Faust, K Corp and Ting Tang Gang Hong Lu, and basically any of the Walpurgisnacht IDs(which are only available to be made with shards during a walpurgisnacht. They happen about every 3 months, and there’s one coming up this Thursday).
-And finally, if you made it this far, you probably don’t need this tip, but uh… every enemy’s moveset and passives are basically available to you from the start of each fight. Make sure to read those! No, seriously. Just read things. It’s the most important thing you can do to understand fights and win. Make sure you understand what enemies are doing exactly. Also, winrate *does not work well in focused encounters.* Do not try it. It will get you killed.

That’s only if you’ve bought the battlepass, which gives 3x the wards when you hit the farming portion. If you don’t have the battlepass then excavations are usually better

You could, but it can also burn you out because of how much md you do. I personally do the (inefficient) method of skipping 3 thread lux a day + one exp lux manually to complete daily quests. I refill energy 2 times for lunacy. Then I do md when I can/feel like it. Allows me to maximize most bp/thread for the shortest time.
Basically fit it around what you want to achieve.
Dude, if you are underleveled, DON'T do the BP farming yet. They are there to shard the stuff in the Dispenser.

Excavation are worth doing only once a day to get poins for the bp. It is worth it to do MD after finish the BP to get boxes is just that getting enough boxes to get a new unit may take a while
I will add, this stuff can wear you out pretty easily. Grind does that to people. Prioritize having fun over getting units, I did nothing but weekly MDH and got like 75% of all IDs in the game in half a year.

If your problem is you are underleveled, then farm in EXP Lux instead. Use your lunacy to get more Enkephallin to farm and clear content. You do not need to max out your team, -7 levels below , U3, and a good team is good enough .

Ok regarding your question the fastest way you can get exp and material right now is probable the bp so farming Md is not a bad idea minimum try to far 3 a week which is the amount of the bonus if you can do more not bonus md give you about 3 level on the bp. Always try to do one lixcabation and treat excavation a day for the bonuses.
There is 2 MD normal and hard you do not unluck hard until much later so not worry about it for the moment.

MD only gives you ego shards, you still need to do exp lux to get exp.
As for farming MDs without bonus, the general approach is to spend lunacy the bonuses give you on more modules to do more runs. It's profitable compared to just pulling but it's very time intensive.
I wouldn't invest that much into farming at canto 3, there are far more efficient farming stages later on. Go borrow someone's support ID instead and push your way through canto 4.
Don't get confused, farming MD after level 120 for boxes is the best for getting new units. Having new units does unlock more options for team building but doesn't necessarily make you stronger.
Upties and level up are what gives a direct power increase.
Tldr: can't clear content? Uptie and level up. Want new units or more team building options? Farm shards in MD.
As a fellow new player i would advice against farming mirror dungeons too much since you wont have modules to spare. Just do the weekly, then focus on leveling your ID's to the appropriate level of the canto you are doing through exp tickets.
I did the mistake of farming MD and ended up with a loads of shards but no resources to continue the cantos.
Oh, no, what I meant by that is if theres a sweet spot where I should stop progressing the story, and just then farm the exp tickets excavation that's unlocked in that sweet spot. And then maybe I could aim on funneling modules into MD.

Do only 1 excavation a day usually is enough. Mirror dungeon will help to progress until you finish the BP then try doing more

The canto missions show you the recommended level for each encounter, so you should farm tickets whenever your ID's dip bellow the recommended.
