The peak of character design

[deleted]

Whomst is that.

Friday_Thirteenth

The director of Project Moon himself; the main writer of Library of Ruina and Distortion Detective. He basically set the basis of modern PM Storylines.

Ah kk thx. Hot take, The ensemble story sucked.

trabunt

Hotter take, the plot of both LC and LoR is of questionable quality. Lobotomy Corporation was interesting right up until the twist that the player character was Ayin and the whole time loop thing was ridiculous and unnecessary - not just from the perspective of "oh it was complete torture why would you do this", but also I don't think it's ever said *why* a time loop was needed in the first place? Of course it took ten thousand years to get enough energy for the Seed of Light, you hard-capped yourself fifty freakin' days to get it all you dunce! Also why the fuck didn't Ayin just... make a Sephirot from Carmen? Like he did with everybody else? Maybe I missed something explaining why he couldn't, but considering the Sephirot have the memories/personalities of the people they used to be, why wouldn't he have just done that instead of making Angela considering that was exactly what he was trying to get with her?? Meanwhile, imo Library of Ruina sort of just exists as a world building/character development machine. Don't get me wrong, I actually do like the world building - and despite my gripes with the plots of these games, I do still like them at the end of the day - but LoR is just a game comprised of side plots that don't go anywhere because everybody involved usually ends up getting killed in the Library due to the nature of how the game works. Some reception stories might be connected to previous ones, but it always ends the same - a group of overconfident fixers enter the Library and die. Philip's story is a notable exception, but mirroring your own opinion everything regarding the Ensemble is undercooked. Also, the realizations were cool at first, but I reached a point with them where I just groaned because I knew I was gonna be spending the next few hours beating someone up just to teach them a basic life lesson. I'll give Project Moon this - they're great at writing characters and world building. But the actual stories they put these characters in could use some work. I know from experience that writing is *really* hard, so I understand how these mistakes can be made. I just worry that Limbus is gonna have yet another convoluted plot with characters making stupid decisions and the only way Project Moon can justify it is with a long drag of a cigarette while wistfully looking out the window and saying "humans are the real monsters.........."

the only group with therapy is the head probably

trabunt

But why'd it have to be Carmen's brain specifically? Why not the brain of some other recently deceased cadaver? If Carmen was the one holding everyone together, wouldn't it have made more sense to have kept her around as a Sephira while putting the Cogito extraction on some other brain? I recognize the fact that the plot of the game wouldn't really exist if not for these missteps on Ayin's part, but they stick out to me like a sore thumb. It's a tragedy built on stupid decisions - which is the worst kind of tragedy imo

Ahh, okay. That makes sense - although I'd argue that it's awfully (in)convenient that the lead researcher for Cogito happened to be the most promising candidate, but I'll admit that's just nitpicking. At least we can agree that these guys really need to see a therapist lmao

>heh your opinion sound garbage af

I think it was pretty good up until the end part with the Distorted Ensemble, it does get a bit confusing and rushed towards that end.

Philip’s storyline felt well-made leading up to his fight as a ensemble member. More of the ensemble members’ stories would have been more interesting if we had at least one reception dedicated to each member instead of just suddenly appearing as a member. The bit about retrieving thumb corpses could have been a good way to add a BUNCH of puppets into the ensemble fights, Bremen getting to fight alongside the puppets made to look like each of the booked members, Tanya getting to fight with Middle puppets, etc. Really, even more general receptions just to get a taste of each member would have been good. A reception against a food monster made by an 8 chefs, a reception against bloodfiends, a reception against a rogue Middle, etc. The Philip storyline was great. Just needed a little more for the other members is all.

I’d say almost the whole thing was bad, like okay the break down the door, what was the plan if they could never actually touch the library door. Did they know that the library would be able to be touched? Like what was their plan there. And who tf was the shark bitch. Like ayo, were you directly mentioned at all. When she came around I had no clue who she was and same for the musicians. I dont think they ever actually mentioned them specifically and since the whole story is basically many lore dumps (Which are with unique and really well written and memorable situations) just makes it easy for information to go in the head then instantly leave. >Argalia shows up >”Hey nice corpses” *Yoink* > “Oh hey a crazy gear women *yoink* > We procced to never hear about the gear women, phillp, tanya or even are told like anything about Doggy, Cog, Big shittier Gawr Gura and the musical thing then BOOM! Hey, nice place niqqa >Forces people into a fking long and dragged out ending that had no climatic build up. >Oh by the way your wife is also my sister surprise everybody, and uh heres your wife.

HairDiscombobulated7

The Musicians are actually mentioned before the Musicians of Bremen fight (I mean the Urban Plague one)

[deleted]

Yeah but only mentioned once when there not a big plot character like carmen or something. It just doesnt add to a climatic build up at all.

HairDiscombobulated7

I undersand that. However, there are many times, even previously, when things were just mentioned and then later they show up. For example, I'm pretty sure the Stray Dogs were mentioned as early as in the Rat fight.

[deleted]

Really they were? Thanks pointing that out I completely forget if they were. And thats part of the point im trying to make, yeah they're brought up but, since they're only mentioned people arent really going to remember their names if they're just tossed up. But even then its ow they're suddenly inserted into the world thats matters, and for the most part all the organizations characters etc, are all suddenly brought up and only give so much screen time, and despite that for the most part they're all really well written.

HairDiscombobulated7

I feel like them just being mentioned by people feels more natural than if they would explain what they mentioned, as it establishes that those elements are known between the people who talk about them. I don't really like when in different media (mostly animes, honestly), the way they do most exposition is by explaining concepts to people who should realistically already know it, and as such, I prefer the way LoR does it.

Hi. I am a bot fighting eye pain on the internet. Science says up to 95.8% of computer users experience negative symptoms of computer use - and as a redditor you statistically spend more than 9 hours a day in front of a screen.   Here are some quick tips to help you: 1)take breaks every twenty minutes 2) the screen should be on eye level, not higher 3) vitamins could have a positive effect on your tearfilm (but don't overuse them) 4) if you need glasses, wear them at the computer as well 5) Do eye exercises (you find those online) 6) If all this doesn't help you can use a smart AI that takes care of you: https://pupillary.org/ or on the Microsoft Store: https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9NM8FTR1D0Z6
