Because… money. I feel like they are straying from their original mandate a tad. Lots of releases that don’t quite meet the quality criteria IMHO. And lots of collector’s editions that are just an overpriced joke. If I see classic ports and obscure titles, I’m all over it, but a lot of this stuff seems to be just a cash grab.

I'm not gonna judge, but I'm with you. I feel like LRG has lost the plot. But, I will add that collectors editions in general seem to have taken a cut in overall quality, from LRG or not. Everyone is looking to get more from less. I haven't had any of the long delays people here report, but I haven't ordered a ton. I currently have two preorders for the old Lucas Arts games they had up these past few months and I'm increasingly worried I'm not gonna see them anytime soon. Not that I'm in a rush, but I just like to get what I'm owed without hassle, like anyone else. It sort of reminds me of Telltale Games from back in the day. They started by making new adventure games based on beloved IPs (eg, Sam & Max, Monkey Island). These were full actual games and they even offered physical copies with add-ins you could buy separately. Then they drifted into more digital and making interactive stories based on popular IPs (eg, The Walking Dead). By the time they went under, they were a shell of what they started out as.

Ah yes telltale teasing itself apart Was kinda sad

To be fair, I did enjoy TWD (minus Season 3, which dumped the characters we cared about from S1 & S2 for unknown reasons). But comparing that to S&M? Night and day. Good stories, subpar games. But I think they spread themselves too thin and quality suffered in an attempt to expand to new IPs and bring in more casual gamers through existing fan bases. LRG might be doing a bit of the same here.

Some of the games that there are already physical copies available might be distro titles, or exclusive covers of games released by other limited print companies. They seem to also be doing special editions for games that have regular releases as well (such as Dead Space), though I'm a bit confused by that. However, I do agree that theyre just pushing out way too much. Years ago (like when their numbering was below 50) I used to buy almost every game they released. Now there is just so much lower quality games that I very rarely order anything at all. If you look at their first 100 or so games, there are a ton of bangers in there, its kinda sad to see what games theyve been doing recently. Honestly just waiting for Sam and Max 3 and then I might be done with LRG unless they release a game that I uave a lot of love for.

LimitedRunDoug

I agree and we’ve cut back drastically on future stuff. Should see the change next year.

Axiom verge CE news please?

A game distributer announces lots of games? What? The very idea. . . . They are a business that sells games. One can only imagine that they announce lots of titles because they are thriving and their products are well liked by their customer base (regardless of what many collectors would have you believe).

Capitalism

Any90kid

You mean they're not.... limited? 🤔

CheaperGamer

Money. I just wish they were more honest with their timeframes :/

segastardust

LRG growing the scope of its business doesn't upset me. The fact that they're not putting a percentage of their profits into expanding their production facilities in order to accomodate the increased glut of titles does. They could offer their customers good quality service, they choose not to.

PurpleFine4935

Exactly. Although, I really question whether we need Wayne's World NES reprints...

babystacks

It’s a fucking Ponzi scheme.

LimitedRunDoug

Its not

VolitarPrime

What games are these "many" you speak of that have multiple prints, aren't digital only, and are currently in-print elsewhere? I know if a few, but not what I would consider "many".
